Afternoon toughies,
Well it may not be the end of the world, but it certainly feels like it is: it is so dark and gloomy here at the moment.
However the house smells very Christmassy and I've just got two rooms left to sort then I will light the candles and let Christmas commence. Tomorrow we go south to get my mum for Christmas and into the New Year, and so this evening will be the last time it's just me and OH for a wee while.
Got a pleasant suprise in the post: we got our elec bill and it was down from last year. I didn't even think we'd been trying that hard!
I've still got everything crossed for those waiting for dentists or important phone calls. Keep us up-dated!
Take care everyone.0 -
Dark and wet and horrible
I WANT SNOW

We are back from the hospital and all has gone well, they used gas to totally knock her out and we were only about an hour in there in total. She was fine with the anaesthetic as well so am very relieved.
Have done very little prep today other than gets the pigs in blankets made and frozen. More stuffing done too. DD18 has tidied her room - I had forgotten that her carpet was different to the others its been that long since I saw it!!
As punishment for leaving it so bad for so long she is now tidying DS8 bedroom ready for Christmas - am hoping this makes her think twice about putting her stuff away.
Meat for dinner has not defrosted and has not even begun to defrost so am looking at having to brave the shops again which I really do not want to be doing.0 -
Evening all!
Seven - that's ridiculous, no way should the carer be allowed to treat people like that. Luckily both of the girls phoned the police, just ridiculous, hope both of them are fine now.
kidcat - glad everything went well at the dentist.
Fuddle - what a pr!ck your old LL is, take him to court, the cheating little get
Lovely GF recipes, can't wait till i'm allowed to bake again.
i'm always concerned about school dinners, ds1 said at his school they aren't to bad, he goes to hot dinners and said they pretty good portions and better than primary school lunches.Ds2 though i'm always concerned about his dinner sizes, he says they okay, but he generally always has a snack after school.
Mar - your not the only one, we want snow too:(:(:(
Went to ds2's christmas assembly, was lovely, seeing the children singing.
DH was a bit funny about me going though, it was pretty wet and cold out. Still i persuaded him to take me, ds2 was so chuffed seeing us both in the audience.
We went and paid £10.80 for school lunches, so that's sorted at least. DH said we caused a stir with everyone looking at us, some people came over and asked what had happened, so explained about arthritis and things. OH reckoned we gave them something to gossip about, saying that the whole time we were there, we were holding hands and smiling at ds2.
My friend turned up today with a pressies so need to get them some tomorrow, still haven't finished for chrimbo, it all works out in the end. My dad turned up with money today to buy xmas presents with, the daft thing was all stressed. Tried giving him it all back but he wouldn't have it, so going to get the boys some things over weekend off him.
Had a lovely lunch with my eldest today, he decided he wanted to make us beans on toast with cheese on top. It was gorgeous and spending time with him was brill. OH is still out working so just waiting for him to come back.0 -
Yes, still here. Not one of my good days. Tried waling two streets to the shops. Nasty rainy cold day. Really bad trying to walk, my mobility is so bad and painful(is this what the future holds for me?)Not being able to do much. Was thinking to some extent how difficult it is for Kezlou as it is obviously Arthritis I have too.
Then of course I have been filling in those horrible forms and wondering what will come of them when they are sent in...I wanted to post them today but the place I was going to photocopy the forms so I have a copy has removed the copier:mad:so I will have to go out again tomorrow early on and hope the library is open and has one.
The only other machine on the town is faulty. My Dr has let me down so I cannot include his reports with the forms so they'll have to be sent in ASAP as soon as the mail gets back to normal and the Dr's surgery opens as it should. I hope I have filled them in ok but they've changed the questions and added some questions difficult to answer properly and others you cannot answer the way you used.
So I can only hope it goes as I hope.
Will try and enjoy Christmas as much as I am able. I had planned to listen to the Christmas music as Mum and myself used to but I realise it's almost here and I haven't heard much at all...oh well..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. any news unixgirl?
mcculloch did you say you were going to have some news to share too?
I just wanted to make it clear that the DDs school is an absolute exception. I used to be a mobile cook, providing sick cover for all the kitchens in the borough and i have never seen anything like that before, never.
I spoke to the catering manager and he laughed, he thought I was winding him up. I've told him if a vacancy becomes available due to the circumstances then i want to be the first to know so i can get my cv in quickly. he's also put my name on the list to do a catering nvq. he's reassured me that he's going to take action quickly but cant discuss what action or who.
DD1 came home from school with a new notebook and pen from her teacher. she's just shown mw what she has written...
"christmas list
please may I have ai tatty tedd figger and 10 packs of moshi cards. please I beleave in you I love you father christmas xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx."
"dear santa please may i have ai barbie and ken dream house i beleave in you santa i love you so so so much"
all i can say to that is !!!!!!...if she's going to keep believing then i need to go back out and get her at least some of these things. and here's me thinking i was all done. she's a canny one my eldest!!
moshi cards are 75p a pack, no chance she's getting 10, maybe just 1 and say santa left his glasses somewhere?? and i think the card shop has little blue nose bear things that look like tatty teddy very cheap.
i really could do without trailing round the precinct on the sat before christmas!!!
ETA, ive sent her to bed with instructions to put the notebook under her pillow and just hope that fc gets time to read it as he must already have started loading his sleigh, afetr all it's only 3 days until christmas evefreecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -
Oh to be an innocent child...nice story Lisa. To all who can have a Christmas with loved ones you are truely blessed."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

OH reckoned we gave them something to gossip about, saying that the whole time we were there, we were holding hands and smiling at ds2.
That is probably the most important thing of all...to quote the title of an old Bing Crosby song "That's what life is all about!""A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

lisa know what you mean my eldest, he's 12, came out and said "Oh mam, can i have a watch. for Christmas". So i'll be joining you in town tomorrow, going to get him it off his grandad.
Oh and the school meals used to be awful in ds2 school, till the dinner ladies kicked off and least now they edible and have a choice of a salad bar. One school i worked at, i'm sorry but i had to do the same thing as you. The school meals improved after i threatened to report them.
Pops keep warm, whack the heating on! I can't afford to but your health is more important right now!
I actually managed to hobble to my sisters door from the van today, had both crutches and OH assisting me. Hurt like mad, i'm laid up on the sofa now so having a rest. OH booted off at me as i made gammon and veg for tea, i admit i shouldn't have done as i've truly done myself.
Does anyone know if osteoarthritis can spread to your other joints?0 -
lisa - umm yes is all I can say, she definitely has her head screwed on.
OH has been to walk in centre over his toothache and they refused to see him, he gotin the car and some woman has reversed into my car, I cannot describe my reaction, but it is safe to say she is very lucky she lives in middlesex!!! I now have to deal with a car insurance claim, my company will write it off over the damage as its that old, so am going to go direct to her company and run the claim myself. It will be alot quicker and hopefully much less stressful
So have packed OH off to hospital with my dad driving this time, to have the tooth looked at, have told him to tell them he was involved in car accident and needs checking and then when he is in there mention the tooth!! I figured he should get something out of this.0
