I don't think DH is in pain now luckily, so we won't be pursuing that. The size of the car is a bit of a worry if we have to use it over Christmas, but yes, if it comes down to it we will just pay for a bigger one. I'm not sure having to transport lots of Christmas presents will be an adequate excuse!

Your parrot sounds a right laugh Pooky.
Anyone see Strictly? I've gone off Louis and reckon Kimberley to win now. And while I love her, I hope Lisa goes this week, she just isn't up to the standard of the others now.
  • Posession keep an eye on Mr P. I was not in much pain for the first few days following my accident but 2 months later I am still on regular painkillers, physio and acupuncture, not to mention the wheat bag permanently attached to my back. Glad to hear everyone else was OK. Hope the car gets sorted out before Christmas for you.

Have pulled out the first one of our HG parsnips 1LB 12oz . Will only need one to feed us all on Christmas day.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

I had a friend with a parrot and when someone came in and said, "Oh, you've got a parrot." It would say in a frightfully refined voice, "An African Grey, actually."

Fuddle: For goodness sake girl, how do you have time time chat on here on moving day. I've heard of being organised...............

Look after your Alfie, he probably thinks it's the end of the world and he's got another 6 days to wait for that!
    Take it gently.

Enjoy your new home Fuddle, you deserve the best.

Pooky, your parrot sounds adorable. I recently fell in love with a handreared rainbow lorikeet in a pet store. If we had been allowed pets here in the unit, he would have been coming home with us. And to think I wasn't a bird person, but he seemed to fall for me as much as I fell for him. I think there's every likelihood of me being a parrot owner at some point in the future.

I made some asian-flavoured pulled pork today. What an easy, cheap recipe with a multitude of uses. I'll be making that repeatedly. I'll be making some steamed buns containing that with hoisin sauce tomorrow I think. Seems I might be regaining my cooking mojo.

Sorry to hear about your car Possession, hope you get that fixed easily.

Sorry for whatever I've missed, but love to those in need. I skim read the last bit only. Haven't been sleeping too well at night and next door has 2 young girls with extraordinary lungs who screamed at a high pitch non-stop for 8 hours during the day yesterday. I wish I was exaggerating, I've never heard anything like it before. They leave soon, thank heavens.

Pooky:- It sounds like your Parrot has a great personality.:)
Kidcat:- Hope you are feeling a bit better today, Katieowl is quite right, this young man could have been anyone. How big is the snow machine?:T
Fuddle:- Hopefully today will not be quite so manic and tonight you will be able to sit in your new home feeling a bit more sorted.
Possession:- I second MrsVegPlot whiplash injuries emerge slowly over a few days, an appointment with your GP is a good idea. It's over 18 months since my DD's bump and she is still needing physio.:(

I don't think I have ever looked forward to a New year so much. We have had such awful news throughout the year and to be honest I thought the end of the year was going to be ok. But no, in this last week two young friends of my DD's have died and then yesterday my Bil's uncle. Ok I thought that's number three, (it's an odd superstition isn't it?) and of course these awful events in the US were very upsetting.
So I started yesterday feeling a bit down but just got on with it, as you do! Went to Al*i and got through the checkout and realised I had left my purse at home! I had taken it out of my bag to get some stamps and left it on the dining table! I was very red faced :o as you can imagine and I just left the shop! I can laugh at it now but at the time I'm sure the staff must have thought I was loopy! I have to go back this morning because we still need to eat!!:D
Then I got the news that my DD's friend's three year old was very ill. So I baked all afternoon with my mind elsewhere. How I didn't mix up the sausage roll and the Biscotti ingredients I don't know. (Biscotti came out great, thank you SDG. the house still smells wonderfully of Chocolate Orange this morning)
The poor bairn has been diagnosed with Leukaemia. Devastating news. So I'm lighting my candle again, and will see what help I can be to her parents who could hardly speak last night and who have to break the news to her three siblings today. I'm not too sure if the Royal icing will get on to the cake today, but I suppose it will keep me busy.
I don't know why I think a New year will be any better, I suppose it's a new page, washed clean sort of thing.
I know what it is, it's Hope.....What would we do without Hope?
Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”

Hugs Meme - I do understand that without HOPE we are nothing. Be kind to yourself today xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Hello toughies, I've read back a bit but can't keep up!

May you be happy and prosperous in your new home, fuddle family!

Monnagran, I am wiping coffee off my monitor now thanks to your post about Alfie thinking it's the end of the world! :rotfl:

Pooky hope your parrot manages to lay her eggs successfully! There are times I'm glad I'm not a bird, I must say. I love parrots too, how do they manage to be so clever when they only have a little birdie brain? :D The you tube videos of dancing cockatoos has me literally :rotfl:

Possession hope all is well after the prang.

I'm off to refill my hot water bottle now, will read again later - wishing a warm and happy Sunday to all xx

edit: Meme, so sorry about the awful news for the little one. I hope she has a swift and full recovery.
