  • Good morning all and hugs to all feeling unwell - i hope you feel better soon. I have had lots of giggles reading back the last few pages and in particular the radiator kill story:rotfl:
The news from America was so sad. How can people do this to each other? So pointless.
Fuddle i hope your move goes well and that gas bill is shocking! I'm sure next months will be a lot lower.
I have to go and change a gift i bought for my 15 yr old daughter this weekend as i have just found out her father has also bought it. If i ask him to change it then she will get nothing at all. She is still waitiing for her trip to london for her birthday which was in march....bear in mind that we only live 25 minute train ride from centre of london and there is no excuse. He keeps 'forgetting'
Today i am going to try and wrap as many gifts as i can and make sure everything is correct. I also want to assemble the childrens stockings to make sure they have equal amounts in them. If i can do that, i will be able to reach the crate with my scrapbooking supplies which also contains the glue stick i need so my youngest daughter can do some lapbooks (i home educate her). YEsterday we read an entire 68 page storybook about dinosaurs as she was really loving the story despite my voice getting squeakier and squeakier at the end. I have been slowly losing my voice this week and my older children have been teasing me by squeaking when they talk to me:o.
  • Kidcat have a big hug from me - you sound so fed up (entirely justifiably). Take care of yourself and, even if just for 10 minutes, say stuff it and sit with a big mug of hot chocolate all for you;)

Here's hoping we find our missing Mojo''s - I think there is a whole herd of them heading for the hills leaving several of us bereft!
  • Morning all, lovely and bright and sunny here

    Good luck fuddle!

Jem - hope you have a better day today - maybe all those mince pies will help a little?;)

Kidcat - oh sweetie, big hugs to you. I bet your daughter didn't mean not to tell you and the sulking is probably because she knows she has behaved badly. Give her a bit of space and if she doesn't apoloigise then, then tell her how you feel. (btw its great news about the uni space isn't it?)

In the meantime give in to it and just be ill (not that I want you to be ill but you know what I mean) if you don't rest, you will take longer to recover. snuggle up with a nice blanket and lots of warm drinks. Be kind to yourself and a bit selfish if you have to. As long as the kids are fed and watered (and DH and sulky DD can manage that between them surely) sod the mess and have a day off.

VJs - hope you feel a bit better and survive the family party. I have a mental image of them all ;) Don't fret about getting stuff done, you are getting there (says she who is also half done and no energy left)

SW - saving the best til last - absolutely brill news about your DD, what a superstar. You should be proud of yourselves as well as her. :j

well we are still a poorly household, though DH ok just a bit tired out and DS8 a lot brighter this morn. DS6 still quite poorly but def looks better so think he's on the mend.

Meant to be doing Christmassy stuff today like getting the tree, we'll see. I didn't wake up til after 10!!!!!!!!!!!! rarely get the chance, I must have been so tired. Even had chips from the chippy last night as I felt so exhausted. My waistline

right must go and do something off the list.

    sq:)

    Morning everyone

Been away for some time, very tough times here, but there's a TINY chink of light at the end of a blooming long tunnel, so hope you don't mind me coming back! :)

Have only read a page or two, so sure I've missed loads, but lots of hugs and love to all, whether it's for good or bad news.

The littlies are going to a community Christmas party this afternoon, DH and I going to a shopping centre (yeuch!) tomorrow for a few things we can't get in town, but a gentle weekend for the first time in ages - we're so pleased; is that sad? :rotfl:

Hoping to get the decs up this weekend, or Monday, as we're going off for a few days at Christmas, for the first time ever! I'll miss Christmas lunch at home, but won't miss the horrendous food shopping, queues in local shops, cooking and arguments at family bash....think we're getting the better deal this year. :D

No hope of catching up on 2 weeks worth of chat, (sorry!) so just know I love you cheery toughies and will be back shortly! :j

I have to admit the news has hit me very badly one report says that the shooter was aspergers/autistic and it has really hit me hard. So hearing such lovely news and success has helped lift me a little.

I was thinking something similar, and you know what? It's one of those things where if you substitute any other word for Autistic it's just so prejudiced it's not true. Try inserting a race, physical characteristic (like fat!) or something...and you'll see how daft it it to place that label like it explains everything. I bet there are 1000's of Aspie's and autistic people today RAGING at the way that's being bandied about, because NONE of them could even contemplate such a heinous act of violence. (Aspies often have a very highly developed sense of right and wrong don't forget) It's close to my heart too...so I do *empathise* The perpetrator of that act was a very disturbed and sick young man, who had access to legally held lethal weapons, there's a whole perfect storm right there...and I don't think we should forget that.

7Up & SQ- thank you, have managed to get a grip now, am not watching any more news today, it really throws me. My dad has also called in and taken away all my recycling (had been spread across the kitchen as OH had not taken it), stuff for the tip (all over kitchen table) and moved DS14 new bike into the bike shed (was in hall taking up space and DS was getting all precious about dog hair on it!)
This has made me feel more manageable, am now planning an afternoon watching Christmas movies with the littlies. :)

Cheapskate - good to see you home, and am pleased that you have light at the end of your tunnel. :)

ETA - katie thank you :)
  • Hi KIDCAT - Wonderful news that your daughter has a uni offer, sad that she didn't think to tell you, but magic all the same. You must be so very proud of her, or rather you will be when you feel better. You should take care of you too you know, I know you always do the best for all of them and at the expense of your own wellbeing sometimes, well most times really, and there are sometimes when you need to just take 5 minutes out of your hectic schedule and just be. I know it's a difficult and busy time in the build up to christmas but you need a little recharge of energy once in a while, so be kind to you too, please!!!! Sending you hugs and happy thoughts and hoping you feel better about it all soon, Love Lyn xxx.

OH will have to get up early Christmas morning and switch it on so that they get up to a snow covered front!!!
