Thanks guys, no the damage isn't too bad I don't think, unless there's something that's invisible to me. It's a 7 seater and I was glad the children weren't right at the back, although they would have been fine. Maybe the work can be done quickly, who knows. If we have to take a hire car to my parents for Christmas though we'll need a big boot!0

Possession so sorry about the accident but thankful everyone is safe and injury not as bad as it could be.
When Mum broke her back(and that was not too long before even worse was to happen)on the way home from hospital(via a taxi)five minutes from our home a foreign driver came out of a road junction and smashed into the side of our taxi.
We were so fortunate that Mum was not injured again. Lets hope that the New Year brings better news."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Possession - dont want to alarm you but the courtesy car provided may be small, really small, we had an espace that the insurance sent a micra to replace. Small print in insurance says they dont have to provide like for like just a car.
Thankfully we were lucky and my dad paid for us to hire a car the right size and then we added that to our claim from the other driver. We got paid out fairly quickly for that one as I handled it myself, but if injuries are involved it will take longer, they will need medical reports to show the injury now clear.
I think if the damage is minimal you may be lucky, if you hassle the garage enough you will become someone they want rid of and will get it done for youRemember the insurance company pay them for storage fees as well so the longer they have the car the better off they are- the way to get round this is to be worth more to them out of the way than the car is sitting there!
I remember OH having a big smash in an old battered car many yeasr ago and the garage kept delaying starting work, I had a newborn so left it a while and then started hassling them and the insurance company, reminding the insurance of the price they were paying. The garage started work very quickly afterwards and when we collected the car the manager said he had never had so much hassle from an insurance company over such a small cost!0 -

Possession I was once offered a Corsa as a courtesy car after an accident. I told the hire firm it was too small as ds's pram wouldn't fit in the boot. They said it was an extra £10 a week for a bigger car and I just said fine, signed the paperwork and the other person's insurance company paid. I did explain to my insurance company why a Corsa wouldn't have been any use to me and they were very good about it (ds was quite small at the time and needed a pram).0

Possession - sorry to hear about the accident. If DH is in pain get him to get it noted at the hospital or GPs so it's on his records. Hope you can get a replacement car sorted quick x
Fuddle - glad the move has gone well, so pleased for you and your family. Hope Alfie settles down well too.
Meme - my parrot goes through an elaborate ritual of nest building and rubbing her vent on a perch before laying her eggs....she's also asking for lots of "strokes" but only from me and then presents her belly for rubbing.....mind you as soon as she saw my Dad today (the only other person she can tolerate) she went all soppy and let him have a stroke in exchange for a polo (she loves polos). She's now shouting the cats names and counting whilst dancing but has missed number 4 so it's "Georgie, Harvey, one two three five, who's a good boy, get down!". She's got a huge vocubulary and has supreme comic timing (making a burp noise when my BIL went past the cage earlier had us all in stitches)."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Pooky I've been wondering about your parrot all day. I'm so glad I know the answer now :rotfl: My friend has a parrot who sulks if she goes to bed too late or wakes it up too early.0

we should be eating butter, lard, meat plus fat (preferably stewed ie not roasted), unhomogenised milk, a little olive oil and a possibly a smaller amount of coconut oil. I have been doing a lot of research and our worst illnesses started after we were sucked in, by the big food and chem companies, into using polyunsaturates and margarines of all sorts. Also bad are refined sugars and white grains. Monoculture ie farmers growing the same crop on the same land year after year and I see it here, feed wheat every single year and again the biggest companies and their profits are to blame, the likes of monsanto
Personally I have used only butter and wholegrains for a long time but have now gone onto non homogenised milk and got rid of my remaining rapeseed oil and am cooking with coconut oil or butter or lard or ghee or olive oil. For sugars I use billingtons non refined brown sugars, muscovado sugar or molasses, which is packed full of goodness
Don`t get me going on sweetners either. The only one I use is stevia and then only in the likes of a sour hm compots
one of my first books, as a `housewife` in 1970 was `you are what you eat` and tbh it has never been so true
You have just described my normal diet except I can't eat the grains (I tried Quinoa but it reminded me of frogspawn so the cats had it to finish....they loved it). I went to the doctors for a review of my blood tests and he said my cholesterol levels and vitamin levels were fantastic and asked what I normally ate....when I told him about the eggs, red meat, butter, cheese etc his jaw hit the desk and he just about managed to mutter ''well carry on eating it then, it suits you''. It made me feel so good I made him repeat it louder by pretending I hadn't heard the first time:rotfl:
I don't like stevia it has a horrible after taste to me...unfortunately my husband bought me a pack with 550 tablets in it:eek: It's in the emergency cupboard lol. I use local honey instead of sugar in tea etc although I like Earl grey without any sweetner at all.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0
