I was hoping to investigate Costco for sacks of dog food, litter etc but again havent managed to get there again yet.

Their own-brand dry cat food is very good and ridiculously good value - £18 for 11kg from memory - Baloo loved it but he has a sensitive tummy so he's on a prescription diet now. Not sure about the dog food. They have an unconditional money-back guarantee though so if you're not impressed send it back!
The supermarket brands like Whiskas etc are cheaper than full price but not special offer price.

Litter is not much cheaper than supermarkets/pets at home but have you ever looked at Zooplus.co.uk for litter? I buy one called Biokats for Baloo and it lasts really well because it clumps, you just scoop out the used stuff. You only have to replace the lot every few weeks or so. Works out really cheap and it's much nicer to deal with than the 'value' type stuff. Plus they deliver it to your door. Oh and don't forget cashback ;)

    Mums!

I'd have my OS guardian ladies anyday ;)

Whenever kittie tells us PC's weather she's so right. I am gearing up and feel like I am privvy to very useful info but what worries me is there's not a sniff of it anywhere on the weather.

Thanks thrifty - I currently buy the cat litter from a pet wholesaler, but they are no cheaper for the cat or dog food than supermarkets. Hence the Costco idea as it would be all in one rather than driving to wholesaler for litter, Mr A for cat food, Ald! for kitty bikkies, Lid! for dog food etc

I told OH when he came in from work (he has learnt not to question that words - MSE says!!:rotfl:) and he checked weather here which did say it would get colder next week:D thats probably as good as its going to get I'm afraid.

I watched HIGNFY earlier this week (had it sky+) and they were saying that one country is trying to have the scientists put on trial for not predicting the bad weather - Ian Hislopp said, blimey Micheal Fish would be in the slammer then:rotfl:

OH has invited a friend and his girlfriend to stay tonight as there is a bonfire party we are all going too. I'm annnoyed as the house is a filthy mess and he doesn't seem to understand that i'm embarressed about it. There is no way that I can clean it all myself before this afternoon. Think I'll just swish the bathroom and run the hoover round and that will have to do...!

You'd be surprised how uncaring people are about a tidy house. After I was off sick for 5 weeks on my own unable to do anything, I embarrassedly caved to letting a friend/colleague came round because she was always texting me and being worried (love her!) and apologised about the state of the place but now she's "I hate it the panic tidy when people are coming round but I don't mind when you come round when all the washing's airing and the place is untidy." Yeah, cos you've seen MY place. We're all a bit untidy sometimes and I think we stress too much. So many people apologise for the mess but it just looks like a normal lived in place. Mainly I just have to clean the kitchen a bit cos the cooker gets a bit messy due to enthusiastic cooking and the bathroom because, weirdly, it gets really dusty.

I'd love a companion, I'm ok with cats or dogs but not knowing what the future holds(Income or location)I am probably best waiting. Mum was scared of cats but would not harm them. Think it went back to an incident when she was a child. A cat would be better for me as I don't have to walk a cat.

Then again if it wasn't the thought that if I move I may not have garden/outhouse I would happily have a rabbit again...she was so gentle and loving and used to come indoors and lay stretched out in the lounge.

Lovely photo's Kidcat, Thrifty and Crankey...

I don't watch Strictly either...but then I gave up on a lot of those shows and just never got back into them...that includes The X Factor and I'm A Celeb Get Me Out Of Here...

Just started watching some TV recently and most of that is documentaries or food programmes. I sometimes start to watch a series but give up...I no longer read newspapers and avoid the news but obviously hear that as most radio stations carry it on the hour...

I am more of a radio and/or music person...

As said by others, it does not stop it hurting and if you can come to terms with not liking a relative even if it is someone as close as a parent, so be it! You cannot choose who you love...I was fortunate that my relationship with Mum was special and close, that I had Mum as long as I did. In many ways my life was enriched but perhaps that also makes it more difficult to accept that she is no longer part of my life. But you cannot change things...

Remember what I said about avoiding the news? That probably has upset me as they are talking about how the care plan that has been used in hospitals for those coming to the end of their lives has been abused and not explained to those who are close to them and I realise that happened with me, I was not asked for my consent but told it was being instigated and now there are cases coming to light where the plan was stopped and people have survived much longer and managed to return home...

But I'll never know...and now they are looking into changing how they use this plan...too late for us...but I tend to blame(can't help it)the care home.

Fuddle, Enjoy your special times with your daughters and OH...(and Alfie too):rotfl:

Hello all - what a lot of chat over 2 days! :)

Possession - tried to PM you but your inbox is full.

Forgotten what I've read as I skimmed so fast, but many congratulations to Famille Stiltwalker, sounds like you had a wonderful day!

DH and I took youngest DS (5) out for an hour tonight to see some fireworks, would have stayed longer but it's bitter here. It's smelled like snow for the last couple of days, hope it holds off for a little longer as I've a few necessities to get Monday or Tuesday (including new tyres as I don't think these will be safe in the snow!).

My mum's a lovely lady, so I feel really lucky, but I do have a few really toxic close family members who have contributed in a big way to my brain fog. Also my 2 great aunties were my "real" grannies - were much more maternal than the real ones, knew how to talk to and treat children, always had interesting things to do, etc. Does it sound horrid to say that I was so sad when they pre-deceased the biological grannies? I'm not feeling nice tonight, can you tell? :rotfl:

We watched Nanny McPhee with the littlies and now DH and I have ET on, I unexpectedly saved a few quid today so have "spent" it on a bottle of wine and some of those malty round little chocs...I'll be asleep by 10! :D
