everything in this house gets recycled, repurposed, reused and lots of other people offload stuff that they can't use because they know I will. (one of my colleagues laughed at me when I grabbed a big plastic tub with a lid out of the bin to store the kids lego in because you can buy one for a quid...there gonna laugh at me even more when i rifle through the bin for the big baked bean tins to repurpose)
operation skinflint has begun!!! :T
Hah! If you worked at my place we'd be elbowing each other out of the way for big tins! Aside from growing things in them, we cover them in old maps/magazine illustrations/whatever takes our fancy and varnish or craft glue over them and use them for "putting things in".
Amazes me what people will throw away whilst shelling out for very similar stuff.
Hi all, by the way. Just discovered this thread whilst killing time waiting for chicken carcasses to finish roasting and an aubergine to collapse into roasted deliciousness.0 -

Hi Adorian! I always snaffle them up too, at my work they end up in the recycling. I spray-paint them, paint on a chalkboard panel on the side for tins (these become herb planters) or on the top of the lid if it's a sweetie tin, (these become cake tins). Then I give them as gifts0

Nope but it may be my computer playing up - can anyone else see it?0 -
Have just watched masterclass bake off and they recommend a jam jar lid under the basin when steaming a pudding, they say it helps prevent the basin from shattering when it hits the hot water.0
