Fuddle - you can choose your friends but yer cant choose yer rellies!!!
Cranky - lovely, we had one cat who used to sit in the tree, one under it and then the kittens who climbed it, that year the tree was destroyed as it had been knocked over so many times it was awful.
Last year our girlie had only been here a few weeks and we still thought she was going back, so we werent worried about her habits or integrating her, she was confused as our tree was real and she had never seen anything like it, she would dive across the room throwing herself at it. Am hoping we can train her not to do that this year as when she missed she invariably landed on a human all claws out - it was not a pleasant experience
Stiltwalker am so pleased you enjoyed your day, yes please for the pics.
I planned on dinner for six as normal, ended up with dinner for 9:eek: when DD6 had friends over whose parents went out without saying anything to us and DS14 friend stayed as well.0 -
As requested.... nearly that time of year again. The sound of tinsel being chewed - I can hardly wait! Please can someone resize this if it's too big. I'm technically incompetent.
Thank you:snow_laug:snow_laug:snow_laugI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
53p for a toilet brush, cheaper than the bleach and will last ages.
Would you use a bit of stardrops to give it a clean or just swish the brush around in the water?
On that note I'm going to get a life (a bath) and stop talking about cleaning toilets on a Saturday night :eek:0 -
Fuddle it's Strictly!! Well done on putting up with your mum.
Stiltwalker glad it was a lovely day with happy memories!0 -

We've had various cats scaling the Christmas tree over the years, and puppies attacking baubles, eating the chocolate decorations, etc  No harm ever came to themthough most of my lovely vintage glass baubles from my childhood have fallen victim to one or the other of them
Funniest was a ferret that one of the children once brought home, who actually moved into the tree for a while, and you would see her peeping between the branches and decorations. V. disconcerting for some adult visitors, but huge fun for childrenSometimes she would manage to dislodge a bauble, and proceed to chase it manically around the room, kitten style :rotfl:
If anyone is wondering, she came down and used a litter tray when necessary, and was more reliable in that respect than most of the cats, and much more so than the puppies
Ferrets do pong though :eek:0 -
Is the weather due to change for the worse this week then? We are pretty well sorted for the cold, but I do need to do a small shop on Monday. So I'll pick up enough milk to see the kiddies through the week. I have had a look in my storecupboard today and started a list of what we seem to be using up quickly.
I got some of that window seal tape today. DS bedroom window seems a bit "leaky" so will see if that will help. It was only £3.60 for a big-ish roll...Bossymoo
Away with the fairies :beer:0 -
My three kittens are just over 9 months old now so this Christmas will be fun. I'm already rethinking the tree location. Having three the same age makes for good fun as they play so well together. Last night ginger boy brought in a pigeon, still alive and let it flap around the kitchen. One of the elder cats caught it and took it out, only little miss fluffy drawers (black and white longhaired) kitten brought it back in. Pigeon yo-yo continued for about an hour before they all had a chomp on it.
Is strange how most people are either cat or dog people, i can't abide dogs but would happily have a houseful of cats."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
We used to have our tree behind a baby playpen for years, and not just to protect it from the littlies, it helped protect it from kitties too!!0

Ferrets pong but they are gorgeous beautiful funny cuddly wee lunatics
I do love ferrets.
I want sponge pud and I WANT IT NOW.
I didn't realise making a steam pud was so easy, my mother used to say it was a nightmare. It sounds easy....
Been to Aldi and got a turkey crown for £9.99, threw it in freezer.0 -
Cranky - what a fabulous picture! Oh, do you know, we are seriously considering not putting a tree up at all this year because I know Baloo will wreck it! And he is such a big boy I worry about the damage he would do if he tried to climb it or something. This is him:
It's a deceptive picture, he doesn't look that large but he is a metre long when he stretches and weighs about 9kg! (Was 9.5kg when we got him ). He's a bundle of playfulness and he makes me howl with laughter. But I won't be laughing if he pulls the tree down and breaks a window or takes out the TV doing so (I've a tiny house and nowhere else to put it.0
