The little boy I used to work with used to call me Nanny McPhee :rotfl: it stuck and his dad in particular called me it constantly, an Educational Psychologist and knew (psychoanalysed no doubt) me well enough to get away with it ;)

Am just having a catch up on here whilst waiting for DS1 to phone to order "mums taxi" lol.
He has gone to the Indian Restaurant a couple of villages down the road with a couple of friends, one whom "passed out" from basic training yesterday in the army and is now home for a couple of weeks before phase 2.

We have spent the afternoon watching his football match, which DH is also manager for the team; DS2 went with some of his friends to watch Skyfall whilst we were at the match.

Thanks Kittie for the heads up, just need to get a few bits in mostly milk, and we'd be ok.
Although I do hope to get to Tosco as I have some points vouchers and want to double them up to use to fill the freezer. This is more longer term as with DH being on JSA it would be more prudent to have a good supply of food in, so the weekly cash can be stretched.

Hope everyone else has had/is having a lovely evening.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).

Thank you! Like people said, you can't choose your relatives unfortunately - it's probably character-building having to deal with them! :D

fuddle, you're certainly much prettier than Nanny McPhee - it must have been the way you dealt with the lad! :rotfl:

That turkey crown is good value from Aldi's(but last year Tesco's had some for a similar price)too large for one unless I could refreeze some of it for other meals but I did get a yellow stickered Turkey joint worth £6 for £2 so that will be enough...

Mind you, I am wearing thermal long johns, hiking trousers and three layers of fleecy stuff, including a thermal base layer! My neighbour thinks I'm nuts but it keeps the heating bills down. I'll put the heating on for an hour later as I think when it's so cold and damp the house needs heating through once a day to stop damp setting in. The house was so cold earlier that I was wearing a woolly hat. However I did shave my head last night and let me tell you, a skinhead provides no insulation whatsoever :rotfl:

Not unlike me then regarding the heating, but I have my hat on because I don't have much hair in the first place, not through choice, I wish I had enough that I could shave itlol-061.gifI have most of the same clothes on too...I seem to feel the cold mostly in the early evening(9pm until 3am)then for some reason it seems to get warmer as the night goes on. If I get cold it is my feet that get cold. But if it persists I will use my hot water bottle and/or my electric blanket...even invest in a heavier duvet.

I plan to have another of my casseroles and a warm drink soon which will help...but if I have to because I have a decent store of food I can now switch the money I would spend on food to keeping the heating on for longer...

Thanks for the video MaryB. It is nice to smile...and rather appropriate after the talk of cats in Christmas Trees...

Mainly I just have to clean the kitchen a bit cos the cooker gets a bit messy due to enthusiastic cooking and the bathroom because, weirdly, it gets really dusty.

    I'd go along with that...

So happy that Stiltwalker had such a lovely day...and has many more.

I'm off to bed with my kindle download of ideas of how to celebrate winter solstice with the children.

Somehow celebrating light makes sense to me. I love holy and I love ivy... both of which never die, just sleep. Oh cripes, I'm off to bed before I go all funny on you.

Good night. Thank you for another day of propping me up. It's just the girls and DH tomorrow with toad-in-the-hole and dog walking on the cards. It has to go without issue huh? ;) x
