I saw one of my neighbours at the market on Tuesday and she looked dreadful, I knew she was on a second or even third round of treatment for cancer, I came home and said to OH I didn't think she'd last the winter... We've just heard she died last night. She was 47, and has teenage kids. Awful. So terribly sad. I suppose I should stick a card through or something? Not good at knowing what to do in these circumstances.

I lost my mum aged 47 to cancer back in 1988, when I was 21 and my sister was 19; family were there for the organising etc; but it was the practical help from the neighbours like letting the dogs out at lunchtime or checking on dad who was also very ill whilst myself and my sister were at work that really helped. My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
Afternoon All,
Sorry if I miss anyone, hugs to all who need them...
The Food Bank is collecting again in Tesco's and I did not quite catch the deal but the SM is matching what is given by those donate in some way by 30%(not sure if that is the value of goods or money)
Found some yellow stickered items(sausages, ham, mixed salad)worth £17 and I paid £7. I can get quite a few meals/sandwiches out of that little lot.
Went into Aldi's and got some extra items for the cold weather(a woollen hat, apair of gloves with that Thinsulate stuff in them, a hat that is made of similar material and for a change to wearing a scarf a fleece neck warmer.
Biggest mistake in a long time...I allowed my Tesco vouchers to expire by two days(not paying attention)but worse, they had reprinted vouchers not spent previously(I don't think they arrived the last time they were meant to)so valuewise how much do you think I have lost out on?
£28.50!:eek:and if I could have doubled up(which I think was possible in November)that is nearer £60:("A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Help  I can't finish my sentence for my CV. Dawn I pinched your words and added them in my personal statement. Can you all help me finish this bit off?
Personal Statement
I have, until recently, worked in an educational context within Secondary and Primary schools where I supported children and teenagers with learning and behavioural difficulties. I have a positive, can-do outlook with good communication skills and relate well to people at all levels from the very young to senior professionals. I am good team player, adept at defusing difficult situations and have excellent organisational skills. I have been a mum and housewife for the past four years and looking for a change in career. I have many skills that I believe are transferable towards customer services and a professional attitude ....................................... what? something about challenges? I'm stuck and don't really know what to say! :eek:0 -
Pops do you mean clubcard vouchers? If so you can view them online and ask for them to be reprinted, I lost a good few last year but was able to see them online and get them re-issued.

Thanks Kidcat and Craigywv,
They're the one's. I'll see what I can do next week...No room in the freezer so may have to treat myself in another department but I'd be happy to get the £28.50 back."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Nearly finished now. I've wrote about my customer service experience in a dry cleaners when I left collage as I think it's relevant and in my interests section (as well as qualifications as I have completed and passed 2 modules) my interest in psychology and completing part of a degree while being a mum/housewife.
I'm so scared, so far out of my comfort zone here.
I have read today so will have to comeback later for a catch up. Thanks for the help pooky x0
