There's been a bit of a turn up for the books today. We've signed and paid for the rented house today (Mar 12 months agreement) After a little discussion with the letting agent about the state of house buying etc she said that the rental sector had gone through roof and that they were looking for 2 new letting agents in January. She then goes "you don't need a job do you?" Er, I do actually. "Brilliant, email me your CV and i'll see what I can do" I explained that I had only worked with children and it didn't appear to be a problem. On the way out she gave me her card and said "don't forget your CV, sooner rather than later". I'm a bit blown away. I might actually become a letting agent lol We'll see. This whole few months has been rather surprising and if it doesn't come off, it doesn't come off... worth a try ;)

The snow was just a thin covering pops. We got the black ice in S'ton this morning. Dreadful to walk on.

Erm, been taxed again - HMRC now owe me £70.

LL has been for his pre move out visit. He seemed ok DH said (as I was walking the dog) He said he was going to get someone out to look at the facade of the house re: damp issue. DH is going to clean the carpet (won't cost us as DH knows loads of people in tool hire) which is only fair. Hopefully we will get the deposit back. :)

They were doing a collection in Waitr0se in my very small market town as we also have a food bank. Very sad sign of the times:(
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Fuddle: GO.GO.GO. In life you only regret the things you don't do.

Make sure you get it back. If the LL tries to keep any of it, appeal to the scheme it is lodged in. Most appeals are upheld, though it can take a while.

Is it really really bad to pinch the jelly babies out of your grandkids' xmas hampers?? :rudolf:
 Bad?! Positively EVIL.............:rotfl:You go, gal.

Katie, I would do the card. When my Grandad passed, Nan received 77 cards from family, friends, wellwishers in the village. She referred to them often, and those cards, plus the village church being packed out for his funeral, meant an awful lot to her. Even if it is only saying I've noticed your loss, and I'm sorry it means something to the bereaved.

Been busy doing stuff all day, have only seen SuperGran in passing to wave at across the carpark as I took out my recycling. The person who is in a coma is from the country where the accident took place so I hope that the family that they were out there visiting are at their bedside and that they will recover. It's a heck of a shock to the system.

:T Well done, Fuddle, sounds like someone appreciates your qualities and that you may well have a foot in the door there. Best of luck with that.

As rain stopped allotmenteering happening, we had to go shopping and I said to Mum, d'you mind if we go around to that c.s.? She didn't mind, esp when I found her 2 totally unworn pairs of Hotter shoes in her size..........:rotfl:She's made up. I am, too, but if they'd been one size bigger there could have been an ugly brawl on our hands.

I've found my living room floor again today. Blasted thing has the habit of disappearing in the shuffle and going AWOL for days at a time. I quite enjoy it clear, must do this tidying-malarkey more often.

Hope everyone is warm and has some nice tucker tonight, GQ xx

I love reading about all the lovely things you are all cooking -so much nicer! I decided to make a batch of cheese straws for Xmas, they're in the freezer now. At least , what's left of them, DH couldn't leave them alone and I was nearly as bad:D, but at least managed to stash 30 away.
We also managed to cellophane wrap the HM Hampers this afternoon and they look lovely -I quite fancy one for myself:D. Just two or three small pressies to wrap now and then I'm done and just have cards to write, maybe tomorrow if I have time.
It's freezing again here, slight thaw this morning but the pond had started to freeze over again by about 3pm. So we've just finished dinner and I'm all wrapped up in my fluffy dressing gown and slippers:)
katieowl I was sad to read about your neighbour, I am sure the family appreciated your card. It was very thoughtful of you.
Fuddle Good luck with that job!
PS Mardatha I'm sure you didn't mean to eat those jelly babies really........

Good luck Fuddle, sometimes you've just got to grab those opportunities. Think about how what you've got on your CV can be seen as transferable skills, and instead of saying you've only worked with children, say I've worked with children and I can do this this and this.
It's been a Christmassy day today. DD woke me up too early as she was too excited to sleep more (which doesn't bode well - last xmas eve she was up until after midnight as she just couldn't get to sleep) because she knew her advent calendar was waiting downstairs. We put up the tree and the other decorations, had fully loaded bacon, sausage, egg and saute potato baguettes for lunch (emptying the freezer), and dropped off multiple sacks of stuff at Oxfam. Feeling a lot less cluttered now. Tomorrow we are going to see Nativity 2 courtesy of Mr T so the Christmas spirit continues. A nice weekend, which didn't cost lots of money.
    Kidcat, welcome to Harry.

Yes, I'm going to concentrate on the side of my job that was liaising with Ed Psych's, OT's, speech and language teams etc to try and show I'm used to communicating with different agencies in order to fulfil a common goal. Something like that

I'm wondering whether to mention that I did my work experience in an estate agents but unfortunately it was 17 years ago. :rotfl: I don't think it will be relevant.

Welcome to the madhouse Henry :D Enjoy Kidcat
