    Morning all

Glad you had a nice evening out Stiltwalker and the kids had lovely stories.

Sorry to hear your news GQ. Thinking of you.

Can I add a hug for your smiley and gentle strokes for Bruno.

sitting in here in my dressing gown, about to have a nice bath and make myself look presentable. Have the beginnings of something I think, sore throat, heavy eyes and fluctuating temp, hopefully just a minor cold. DS1 feels the same.

Just bought in towels accidentally left out overnight. They are all covered in frost - hope they will dry quickly indoors. I have so much washing and no (functioning anyway) tumble drier this year so will see how I cope with the laundry this winter.

Also had a letter from local police warning of current high levels of burgluries in the area and in the local paper a man going about stabbing women in the stomach for no apparent reason always at 3pm (happenned 3 times) - its in the area where the boys' school is so feeling a quite edgy atm. I wondered why there were lots of police cars milling about yesterday on way back from school. They have issued a clear e-fit so hoping he will be caught soon.

gotta go, DH champing at the bit to get on PC

have a good day all and be back later

Only other thing Kidcat is the pump for the central heating, and the phone. I've barred him from the kitchen and told him if we cant afford 5 units of elect= 60p a day - then we cant afford his bike either ;)
Savingqueen that sounds really scary I wouldn't like that at all. Smiley, sending nice green healing vibes for Bruno.
Is it really really bad to pinch the jelly babies out of your grandkids' xmas hampers?? :rudolf:

I would say the most likely culprit is the heating pump Mardatha - its the most likely to play up I would have guessed. :)
And if you plan on replacing the jelly beans - its surely borrowing rather than pinching :)

It was think fog here yesterday, really thick, I pulled up last night and could not see to park:eek: had to go by edging slowly and memory of how the kerb bends. :)
Today is very cold but sunny and its been raining during the night, I had planned a farm trip but am wobbly, not quite dizzy but not quite right IYSWIM, so we are tackling cleaning up instead.

I saw one of my neighbours at the market on Tuesday and she looked dreadful, I knew she was on a second or even third round of treatment for cancer, I came home and said to OH I didn't think she'd last the winter... We've just heard she died last night. She was 47, and has teenage kids. Awful. So terribly sad. I suppose I should stick a card through or something? Not good at knowing what to do in these circumstances.

I'm trying not to think about DS's bill from the college, as OH put the wind up me last night saying he wondered if it was an end of term bill, and that there would be two more the same. That I can't cover!!! I'll call them on Monday, and find out, maybe I could organise weekly or monthly down payments on the next instalment, if there are more to come. DS not finishing the course is not an option, as I pointed out, I'd still have to pay this current bill, and he'd get no 'piece of paper' at the end.

I've got the second batch of Xmas puds on. I need to do washing and sort my hair out. We are going out tonight - the village 'girls night out' - it's going to be expensive, and I kind of wish I wasn't going now :( Still it's research on a local eatery I've not been to yet, and I shall network like mad!!!

We lost Father in Law to cancer last year, we were amazed by the number of condolence cards, they really did help lift our spirits. Lots of us don't know what to do our say in those circumstances, but a simple "Thinking of You" type card or an enquiry asking how the family are doing if you meet one of them can make a big difference.

Hope the night out goes well.

katie - how sad, yes do get a little card to show the family you care, I found the cards from my grandad and nan a few weeks ago and it was still lovely to read the messages again.

    Afternoon Everyone,
I started to feel quite positive and calm but have my forms to fill in for migration(if entitled to a different benefit)which may mean a medical but others on here know how a bad reputation it has.(I'll leave that and say no more)Hopefully, it will take until next year to get good or bad news.

i started to take some of Mum's items to the charity shop yesterday, they were too nice to not let others benefit but it felt a bit strange giving them away.

I did not know about the snow that Fuddle and Mar mentioned. I assume there was some here but when I went out earlier this I nearly slipped due to the black ice and much of my town has that tarmac type of path which seems worse than flagstones when icy.

That was sad about your neighbour Katieowl, they say that you are only given enough grief that you can cope with but I do sometimes wonder. I had not seen a neighbour of mine for months and yesterday he was on a mobility scooter. He told me that he had been to hospital and had a biopsy on his bladder(his third)and he is awaiting the results, he has an aggressive cancer. His daughter in London(only 57)has had an operation on a brain tumour(they took away what they could)and she still needs six weeks of radiotherapy or was it chemotherapy I forget.

We may be living longer and they are getting cleverer but I sometimes wonder when you have to face such worry, what are we gaining?

The funeral company that took care of Mum's are holding a Memorial Carol Service in approx 12 days time in an old church in a neighbouring town so although it means a journey, Mum is worth it and though I am bound to become emotional I am going to attend, we can light a candle and place a simple message on the Memorial Christmas Tree.

Now I have discovered there is a memorial carol service on my own town which will allow the lighting of a candle and a little message placed on a Christmas tree and there is the chance to have the name of a loved one placed in the book of remembrance too.

So I may have to decide on one or the other. Or perhaps I'll attend both. I'll see how I feel.

I only use the gas central heating for an hour in the morning and evening and it still seems too expensive to me but as some have said, it adds to the electric bill because of the pump so you end up adding to the other energy bill.

My home may be cold at times but the extra clothes and now a thicker duvet helps keep me warm especially at bedtime. If I use more heat and electric in the Winter perhaps I can make it up in the summertime.

I think I am eating a bit more and a varied diet. I made up a large amount of casserole/stew yesterday with some mince(not sure what it was possibly pork)and bulked it out with just about every vegetable you can think of so though it means a few meals are the same, it has allowed some tasty and not too expensive food.

Have a few tasks to do around the home to keep me busy which I will do slowly(a bit of tidying and cleaning)as the HA want to visit and see all is well with the home. I hope that they think it is being looked after reasonably well.

Wishing everyone a good day and troubles to be small...
