I don`t think it should be running that much mar, perhaps get rv to check the door seals. I have a tall fridge and a tall freezer plus a under top fridge all in warm kitchen and total elec cost is £8 a week and that is for running the dehydrator as well as all the usual. I have a small new beko freezer in the garage as it is built to cope with low temperatures. Most makes aren`t

Some people don`t like quiet hums, dh can`t bear low frequency noise, so maybe it really is driving rv bonkers. Is it one with an ice maker in the door ie constantly running water in?. Maybe check the internal temperatures ie 5 for fridge and minus 18 for freezer. Maybe that bash on the door upset the air seal
  • Morning all. 7WW I loved reading about your dad and the nativity. We always used to have a real tree in the lounge and an artificial one in the hall but stopped this a few years ago due to the price of real trees I now put the artificial one up in the lounge. I think it is at least 15 years old but still looks great once it is decorated. I love putting out all the things the girls have made when they were lounge. My favorites are a wonky plaster snowman wearing a brown top hat and a very lopsided twig angel.
Making a chicken risotto for tea tonight using Kitties’ idea of pumpkin soup as stock. Will also be making pumpkin soup for the freezer with the rest of the enormous pumpkin I started using last weekend.
Mince pies and Christmas biscuits are on the agenda today. Have booked to take DD” to see the Twilight movie, movies are a rare treat for us now. I am refusing to take the OH as he always falls asleep.
Came back from work yesterday to find OH had brought all of the Christmas decoration out of the attic so will put those up this evening.

    Have a good day
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

No kittie, its got a drinks dispenser but we havent got it plumbed in yet. I personaly think it's exactly the same as the old one it's just that he's noticing it more.
Damage is only a wee scratch on the surface bottom of one side.
Would be hard to tell if he ever went bonkers, he wasny very sane to begin with!
    TY all xx

Mar, I'm sorry I did have a little chuckle at the thought of the RV bursting in at 6 am screaming about using 5 units of leccy. I had my 7 yr old coming in at 6 am because she was too excited about opening her advent calendar today.

Mardatha - it may not be the fridge that is using the electricity, there are other things running at the same time surely? You can get monitors which check the exact use of one appliance by plugging the appliance into the monitor - I have one but have never got around to using it.

Thank you all so much for your support yesterday. Bruno had a good night's sleep, but because I am a numpty and was exhausted, I forgot to switch my alarm clock off last night so I have been awake since 7.15am, doh!

He is still a bit subdued and very confused about why his legs aren't working and he can't run round. He does seem a bit steadier this morning and he is eating and drinking OK (and functioning properly at the other end of his body!). I'm still hopeful for a good recovery but we might both have to accept that he'll never be able to run around like a loony again. It was more of a shock because he'd not shown any signs of ageing and was more like a dog of 7 or 8 than almost-15.

Greyqueen I hope your friend recovers, it must be awful for their family to have their loved one in a hospital abroad.

Mar, thank you so much for providing me with a much-needed chuckle!

Those monitors are great we got one, and I went round every appliance in the house working out what it cost to run. Real eyeopener....tumble dryer load 20p....economy 'cheap to run' rack from lakeland 50p a day, and sometimes takes two days to dry DS's thick hoodies. We discovered that the culprit for the huge bill was that the thermostat on the immersion had gone, and it was on all the time heating water as hot as it could!

They only cost about £12-15 quid on Amazon. well worth it!

I got mine from wilko on offer years ago - lost instructions, never got around to searching for more, but I know people who have used them like you katie and been able to hunt a problem down.
