bought a load of cheap cuts of meat and offal for Alfie's meals. About to go cut cook and freeze a whole batch. He's not doing too good on the dried stuff again. Looks like the beagle/collie needs his meat. Going to use his dried food up as treats. Dogs, sure Alfie costs me more than the 2 girls put together!0

We found something like that at our butchers warehouse yesterday. It was a big block called Red Dog Food. They also had Tripe mix. Each was 60p but we walked away feeling dubious. thanks for the heads up. I'll look further into it0

What would be cheaper an electric kettle (quick) or stove top kettle boiled by gas (longer?) Hardly any more than 2x mugs of water.
Also what would be cheaper milk heated on gas or milk heated in microwave?
I'm thinking about cheaper ways of making my tea and hot choc
I've entered my meter readings to predict this months gas usage. Going by what we've used so far, our gas bill is predicted to be £120 this month. I can't wait to get to a house 1/3rd of the size.
Edit: met office have increased our weather warning to Amber for tomorrow. I need to go work out what is expected where I am. What can I expect to happen in an Amber rain warning area?0 -

Fuddle - I was wondering that too- I quite fancy a kettle whistling on the hob - but if its not any cheaper I wont bother,
£120 a month is quite high considering its not been that cold yet, the year before last when we had really heavy snow our three month bill came out at £550 for the gas in the last house. Depressing really as it was still never warm!
Currently our gas usage is really low in this place I think it was £50 for the last month which I am pleased with. Bearing in mind we keep it warm for DS8 and its a five bed three storey - I would guess that your bills should be much lower in new place.
We have been to local garden centre to cheer kids up - bunny fell asleep at lunch time and didnt wake up. Kids were all very upset so I figured some Christmas window shopping would be good for them.
Tomorrow we will take her to cremation place and on the way back I will deliver all the leftover food etc to the local RSPCA centre, we have a few friends with bunnies but none of them are in any way hard up so would rather give the stuff to somewhere that really needs it.
There is a huge gap in the hall that will need re-organising tomorrow when I have more energy and have given it some consideration. Although I may just move the dog bed over there and have the space near the door.
Have done very little by way of getting sorted today - I planned on sorting router and phone out but lost the new wire which I am so cross about.0 -
Sorry about bunny Kidcat.0
-
KIDCAT - Sorry that Bunny is no more, and hope that you and the children aren't too sad. A lovely idea to give the food you have left to the RSPCA to help other homeless bunnies, I'm sure Bunny would be happy with that!.
FUDDLE - I have only a whistling kettle that we boil on the gas hob. It is cheaper I think and there is nothing to go wrong with the enamel kettle, I got fed up having to go and buy another electric one every few years. This whistler cost me £30 from a good hardware shop and I've had it 3 years now and expect it to outlast me in the long run. I wouldn't go back to electric now, I love the noise when this one boils!!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
Well OH is instructing lewis hamilton what to do in the grand prix..... yawn. As if he can help him. Have had a think about things and have decided that tomorrow i will attempt to look for some xmas presents. So far I havent even thought about it, but I have too.
My eldest DD has asked what i would like, My dad or Mr Ben our dog back - but neither is possible. sadly both have passed away and i am missing them loads. Have decided to carry on the yearly tradition, i will buy lots of cheap dog food and deliver it to the dog rescue place we got Ben from. We always fill a box with treats too and send any blankets/towels i have found for for them. It will be a very difficult trip but i know they need every help they can get.
Well im going for a 5 min rest, i deserve it. Ive done washing today, cleaned up and cooked dinner. OH slept throught it all as per usual.BSC member 137
