Morning all - hug to those who need them.

Kidcat - it never ends does it? Hope all well now.

Got a bit of a car problem - boo - noticed reverse lights weren't working so got new bulbs and checked fuse but not solved problem also got a tail light not working but the very self same bulb lights up for the brake light and that is working!!?? So looks like we have an electrics problem, b*gger. Booked into garage for Monday morning, really hope they can sort it as I have a mental week ahead as usual and really need to get to Bolton to the Kidz up North show to suss out a double special needs buggy for the kids and to have a look at some other paediatric equipment we are beginning to need. I find it best to know what to ask the OTs for as they don't volunteer what they have available or can get!

On a lighter note we have our Christmas crafts workshop this afternoon in the village hall - got all the stuff ready just need to get it down to the village hall later and see how many people turn up - apparently will be quite a few.

    Catch you all laters. X

SW - sounds as if it could just be corroded contacts. Try taking the bulb out & gently cleaning the contacts (bulb & car)with some fine emery paper so you can see clean metal - it might do the trick & save you a bill
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Eldest DD has Lady out of Lady and the Tramp (possession ;) ) and it's a firm favourite with both the girls (many a squabble too) They've taken the story to their heart and idolise Lady. We've been to a craft fair today and the girls were looking in the jumble part (with me cringing, please no I need to reduce the toy-age, not add to it!) and then I heard youngest DD shout "tramp!" I was about to tick her off for being rude when I saw this cuddly Tramp under the table. She's over the moon, I mean seriously elated that she has Tramp to go with Lady. 20p and a wash in the machine - I have a very happy little girl.

Edit: bought a load of cheap cuts of meat and offal for Alfie's meals. About to go cut cook and freeze a whole batch. He's not doing too good on the dried stuff again. Looks like the beagle/collie needs his meat. Going to use his dried food up as treats. Dogs, sure Alfie costs me more than the 2 girls put together!

    well done possession :)

I have woken feeling like I have been steam rollered, tried to get on with stuff but just couldnt manage, DD18 had loads of homework so she is getting on with that leaving me with OH and DS14 to do stuff for me, of course both decided to be difficult so I ended up sitting on the floor crying. Sometimes it all just feels too much, neither gets that screaming at me over every little thing really isnt done.
Oh was having a whinge that my mum had let the dog into the garden, he doesnt get that if I am not here I cant stop her, nor does he get that the dog should be able to go out there.
I have now calmed and told them both I am taking no more, so neither is speaking to me - as apparently I am being not reasonable/unfair.

Autism is the gift that just keeps taking!
  • FUDDLE- my youngest shouted POT 27 years ago at a boot fair, mmmmm thinks me, what is it she wants? POT mummy, look, its POT ,points under a table and there was POT the DOG who also cost 20p and still lives with her 27 years later, it's a good thing you've done today, Cheers Lyn xxx.(aka Spot the Dog, but not in our house anymore!).

kidcat, you know, you put up with so much. You need to have a break down like that just to cope. I've done the exact same thing many a time. 8 hours a day, that's all. That's all I've ever had to cope with special needs. I would go home absolutely ragged and be able to switch off and regroup ready for the next day. I had to do that to cope. Kidcat, I have no idea how the heck it is you do what you do, let alone do it well! You're one clued up woman, one strong woman but with a heart and kindness that is second to non. You care so deeply for your lot and you care for people around you, whether you know them or not i.e. toughies/school gate mums.

Remember what you said a couple of days ago... they don't see it as they're upsetting you. Two separate ways of thinking but unfortunately their way is the only way because they can never see yours huh?

I hope you get some space and can recharge your batteries kidcat :( x

edit: Those kittens are adorable! I wouldn't be able to have cats because I wouldn't feel ok about letting them out in the big wild world and that would be cat cruelty wouldn't it?

Teetotalism refers to either the practice of or the promotion of complete abstinence from alcoholic beverages. A person who practices (and possibly advocates) teetotalism is called a teetotaler (also spelled teetotaller; plural teetotalers or teetotallers) or is simply said to be teetotal. The teetotalism movement was first started in Preston, England in the early 19th century.[1]
Some common reasons for choosing teetotalism are psychological, religious, health, medical, familial, philosophical, social reasons, and sometimes as simply a matter of taste or preference. When at drinking establishments, teetotalers either abstain from drinking completely, or consume non-alcoholic beverages such as tea, coffee and mocktails.

there you go Fuddle, thats what I am, I decided when OH had to abstain for medical reasons I would go back on the wagon, I was a very social drinker when I went out with the goth gang and really enjoy a good drink but I do not miss it at all. I have promised Oh a little bottle of sherry at Chrimbo so we can have a treat.

Kidcat, I am learning how very quickly what a challenge having an auty DGS is but it is very rewarding too. He is snoozing on the couch with the cat at the mo and am totally grateful that he sleeps well for his Mummy and Daddy and will have a nap too still. We dont know how long it will last but appreciate it every day. He is very hard work but very very clever too, the latter is no shock as his mummy has a high IQ which we only found out as she is severely dyslexic. As she says we always knew the boy was special so we just get on with it with a little help from my friends on here.

Been a very busy ginny in a short time this morning, posted about 30 parcels, charity ones and E bay, took 40 books to cs as I feel the need to clear the house, been to chemist and only bought a loaf and juice at Mr s.

    Thanks Kidcat x

I am really pleased with the statement, still in shock that hours we got it with our first application.
It doesn't say the hours on the proposed statement yet, but the SENCo phoned up the learning team and said the hours will be discussed in January. The SENco is hoping that ds2 will get full 15 hours.

The lady from Parent Partnership Network is great and so helpful. SHes offered to come in January and assist me with the meeting when we discuss keyworkers, one-to-one support and how everything is going to work. She thinks we got the statement due to the autistic traits ds2 has and his high cognitive levels. Even though ds2 hasn't got a diagnosis for asd or autism as yet. so were really lucky.

Yesterday i was really brave and met up with someone from a conference for a coffee. Decided to come out of a my comfort zone, i'm not a confident person in the slightest so it was a big thing for me.

Anyway it was good, we both enjoyed it and were quite similar so were arranging to go charity shop mooching and tea drinking :).

Fuddle - yes essentially, its means the school can go to the local authority and ask for more funding for extra equipment, support, tuition, etc Its a nightmare, we've been fighting for years for extra help with both of our children, especially ds2.He's been in the SEN register since he 3 years old. Its awful what you have to do to get extra help.

Just catching up and then i'll post again xx

I'm not confident either Kezlou, infact pretty darn useless socially but I suspect that in the summer we'll be meeting up in P Park ;)

I would have been teetotal all year ginny had it not been for making homebrew and an Italian meal a few months ago. I will struggle tomorrow with low mood though. Every time I have alcohol I get pretty depressed 2 days after.
