I'd posted this over on my diary but thought I'd share here too. The basket making class was fab I had a great time.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
Possession - my flabber is gasted!
unixgirl - wow!0 -
Jem - hope you ok, keep your chin up lass - sorry it wasn't better news but at least you now know what you are dealing with and I really hope that gives you something.
Possession - was googling and apparently the Irish threads pattern is the 'thing' but not for beginner sewers - if you get to that point and you are struggling drop me a PM as RL permitting I'm always up for a challenging project - would need plenty of notice though not a last minute job as life can get pretty mental chez stiltwalker. Unixgirl your basket is fabulous
Jem I hope they get you fixed soon
Kidcat in view of the bump maybe getting checked out at the doctor would be good. The strangest accidents can cause whiplash.
I have the classic migraines with aura. I discovered migralieve when I was 18 which changed my life. I took two and went to bed and felt fine when I woke up apart from the sore head the next day. Things being what they are, since having the house elf and being widowed I have discovered that if I take the pink pills and keep my eyes shut for 20 minutes until the wiggly lines have gone I can pretty much carry on as normal. I still have the sore head the day after though.
The elf's school are collecting for the local food bank later on in December. I'm happy they're doing something for the community but as usual sad that it's needed. Children in his class have been having their tuck money stolen (he doesn't take any, he's happier with me making his snack), but his £1 to spend on children in need day was taken from his pocket. Half of me thinks there is probably just a little tea leaf on the loose, but the other half is wondering if someone's parent/s can no longer give them fruit/cake money......0 -
Thankyou all for your help and support, I would like to give you all that are having a hard time a big hug.
Kidcat please get your headache checked out I ignored Myne thinking it was migraine.
Fuddle what a lovely idea I allso buy a gingerbread house but would love to make one from scratch. Do you have a nice gingerbread recipe please.
Cranky we had the same problem at school with money going missing, have you informed the teacher? I started to send it in a little envelope with child's name on and gave it to the teacher direct, but like you I only give it for special days and bun day Friday every other day I give them homemade flapjack or a small fruit salad some times nuts and raisins.
XxxxxxxI have dyslexia so I apologize for my spelling and grammar0 -
Oh Cranky I couldnt - imagine explaining to the doctor, well I was reaching into the cupboard to find my favourite muffin recipe but forgot I had previously been looking for baking powder, so when I stood up I crashed my head into the cupboard door! Especially after the electrocution incident this week - I would be locked up:rotfl::rotfl:
I get funny looks as it is after some of the kids incidents - the barbie flower bead stuck up the nose is still muttered about in some medical circles0 -
I'm trying to read everyday even if I don't have time to post. Life is just too hectic here at weekends.
Kidcat - and others. I'm very interested in your Auty children as my DGS is an Auty and goes to a brilliant special school. There are all so different. DGS has poor speech, though it is getting a little better, I don't think he will ever read or write and his fine motor control is also poor. On the plus side he is the sweetest natured, kindest, most thoughtful and polite child you could hope to meet. He has his obsessions - Eddie Stobart, Wheelie bins and Top Gear - they had a duck take up residence in the garden who he christened Richard Hammond who laid eggs so had to be re-christened Mrs Hammond.
There has to be a reason for Autism to be as rife as it is. In 40 years of teaching, in all sorts of schools and all ages up to 11, I don't think I ever came across a child showed signs of what we now know to be Autism. Yes, there were always children with challenging behaviour, but nothing like the numbers there are now. I've heard it said that we are now better at diagnosing these conditions but I'm not so sure.
Anyway Kidcat, you are one lovely Mum and none of us can imagine how you cope with what you face every day and still remain sane.
The same goes for all the rest of you facing these sorts of challenges.
There is so little we can do to help, but if listening to you helps then feel free to rant anytime. We are all well aware that when we've switched off our computers you will still be battling on.
Lots of love and hugs to you.
I'm off to bed now - a pretty full day tomorrow.

Monnagran - oh yes I know those moments so well, returning the following week with the same bead stuck up the other nostril just to see if the same thing would happen!!
I have no idea why numbers of autistic kids is rising, but there must be a reason other than better diagnosis, as diagnosis is incredibly difficult and many councils fight the process. I know some adults who are either recently diagnosed or who are clearly auty (my oH springs to mind) but not the same sort of numbers as I know of children.0 -

How about a 14 year old with a chunk of garlic wedged in his esophagus? Stupid eating trick at school - garlic hidden in blob of whipped cream on a survivor type game. My son swallowed the lot and the garlic got wedged. Three days later I showed up with number one son with a broken arm (celebrated his 18th birthday and fell on the way home).
I was greet with "It's garlic boy's Mum".:eek:0
