  • Fuddle i make my own wine too and its definately stronger than any wine i pick up in the supermarket. I picked up the whisky and other bits to make my own baileys yesterday too. So much nicer than the 'real' stuff.
Mrs Chip the trolley is lovely. I keep trying to get the turkey leg but they are always out of stock recently at my MrM.
The course i did today was fun but didnt teach me anything new which was a shame. The pizza we made was nice though.
  • Glad you had good news Ginny, a huge relief to you both.

We have a bit of weather here and the cat is running up the walls, he is most upset at the wind and is running out his catflap then round the street and crying at the front door. I know he probably needs a wee and doesnt want to risk it :rotfl::rotfl: still no reason to try and sit on the plate holding my cheesecake.

Just been to Hobbycraft, Im such a good girl I only spent a fiver. I deserved something pretty after hospital yesterday. Good news OH cancer hasnt grown so we wait another 12 months to next check up. However the specialist, who has had a charisma transplant, has said any worries about it or the other problems he deals with for OH just ring his secretary and she will fit us in quickly :T and we have a dedicated nurse we can ring as well. I thought I had dropped my favourite little scissors in the waiting room but they just turned up in my bag, really couldnt have justified going all the way back to see if they had been handed in (and then found them in my bag :o)

DD&D glad you are doing ok, we missed you.

Hugs to all struggling am off to light a candle for us all. x
  • Re phone numbers, my ex MIL's phone number was one digit different from the local Chinese take away, when she complained & got it changed, the new number was one different from the local GUM clinic!!!

Is everyone suffering from total chaos it sounds like it. Got loft insulated at 9 am- fitters were horrible took 15 minutes and unhelpful to say the least. Sky fitted DS's box in his room, half an hour early, rang to see if ok to come early and was lovely. Dgs arrived at 3 as he didnt enjoy his palygroup while Mummy and daddy went to classes to help them cope, so they guessed he wouldnt be impressed going to Ikea. So they opted to leave him here - fun and giggles for 2 hours.

 nearly killed my Mum  rang her and made her laugh and she was eating nuts at the time, had to listen to her choking over the phone, then she said she would ring me back. I sat here for a minute felt like hours till she rang back, she was ok. I said 'OMG I was imagining I would have to phone my brother and tell him I had killed you' luckily she saw the funny side :o

Think hibernation may be a good option.

Hugs to all who need it and boy are there a lot of you xxx

  • Kidkat glad your son is ok following his experiment with electricity.

Kelzou, nice to see you back. Some anti d’s take a few weeks to get to their full effect.

Mrs Chip I love the trolley very funky, what name have you decided on? I like Mardathas purple floosie.

Rainydays when we moved here 12 years ago we were given 2 different phone number by BT they each had a different ring so one was for friends and family an done was for everyone else. One of the had belonged to a builder company and we got irate phone calls from someone whose wall had fallen down. The other number belonged to the local squash club that had been knocked down a year earlier. If it was not people wanting to book a court it was people wanting to speak to the bar manager.

Kidkat when I used to get migraines on a regular basis I found that the best thing to do was to go to bed and try to sleep it off.
Have done the weekly shop tonight and got a large ham that was on offer to glaze and roast for cold cuts over Christmas.

GLad its the weekend, need to rest and chill a little. Don’t drink anymore so will settle for a horlicks. I sure know how to live it up on a Friday night.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

DH worked from home for a while in the pre internet era and had a listing in Yellow Pages. I got very tired of explaining to drunks at 2am that No we were not a taxi firm we were tax accountants
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

My parents first phone was one digit different from the local doctor.
Four out of 5 calls began, "Dr Saunders Surgery?" Sometimes they were halfway through the list of symptoms before mother could stop them. One day my brother went off to Malta on holiday and decided to ring home to let Mum know he had arrived safely. It wasn't easy to ring from abroad in those days, calls had to be booked and it was an expensive palaver. Having got through, Mum picked up the phone and Brother thought he'd give her a laugh. "Doctor Saunder's Surgery?" he enquired. "No it's not," snapped Mum and put the phone down.

Thanks Someone (think it may have been Kittie) who advised probiotic drinks. Fortuitously the Co0p are doing a BOGOF on them so I've stocked up. After only 2 I'm feeling loads better. I don't know why The Samaritans and the CABs don't just shut up shop. Let everyone come on here, we could sort out all their problems.

Mrs C. I have a similar trolley, purple with turquoise splodges, answers to 'Flossie'. They are brilliant but when used with an umbrella they take some handling.

Fuddle: perhaps you should ask Santa for a blow-up dinghy - or at least water wings.

Kidcat- thanks for advice re parent support and GP referrals. Didn't even occur to me to ask for support for myself! In fact DS's learning mentor mentioned a" parent to parent" support scheme if I needed it. Funny thing is I already knew about it through some courses I did before and put my name down to see if I could get on the next training course to be a volunteer parent supporter myself. The way things are going I don't think I can commit to that at the moment. Also I know some of the volunteers and the woman who runs the scheme so not sure I could ask for help. I have always been a coper "on the surface" (not underneath) and so I find it hard accepting help but I might need to get to grips with that and accept help.

I know DH will not want me to go to GP re a referral. I'm not sure myself. I will give it a little time and see what happens. If it seems the best thing to do though I will go to GP.

You're so so right fuddle - it's the not knowing I can't bear. I find it hard to be patient especially with the children, I want answers and action! Being armed with information always helps me cope with things - books are my friend plus the internet and friends (on and off line) of course. I need to know what I'm dealing with and then I can deal with it as best I can. Eg on rare visits to GP I feel so much better when I know what is wrong and what I want from him and will usually go armed with info for an appointment.

hugs kezlou sorry to hear you're feeling so down. we are here for you, post when you feel able and we will listen.

kidcat - hope your migraine's gone. DH gets awful migraines and has to sleep them off. Years ago he had one that lasted a month, a whole month and was so bad that at one point I had to call an ambulance as he went numb down one side and couldn't even remember my name or that I am his wife - closest he could say was "got married". It was really scary - now he has his meds ready just in case of another bad one.

Sending warm hugs and thoughts to you all - many of you will be fast asleep now. Hope you are sleeping VJ's mum? I know you can't answer :rotfl:

I should go to sleep myself, busy day tomorrow. Needed to unwind a bit after an unexpected and emotional call from my mum at nearly 10 this evening. All I need really to round off an emotional week! I was really assertive (not aggressive) and calm and brutally honest about how hurt I am feeling. Don't think anything will change but I have been open and honest even though it was difficult saying what I did. I have never spoken like that to my mum, I usually say/do what's needed to keep the peace but something inside me has changed. DH said how proud he was of the way I handled myself and how brave and eloquent I was.

I will be relieved to forget emotional stuff tomorrow and concentrate on scrubbing loos and kitchen floors (well one kitchen floor) and moving furniture about and all the odds and sods I need to do tomorrow. I have got through my entire secret emergency chocolate stash this week

well its good night from me and its good night from me (anyone remember the 2 Ronnies? I am showing my age :rotfl:)

ps before I log off and slumber sweetly (or snore sweetly more than likely!) I am loving all the phone call stories. My old flat number ended in 1232 and lots of local businesses with different area codes ended in 1234 so I often got misdials. Our current number is also one digit away from a similar popular number and we got a few odd calls, not too many to be annoying though. Last week was one from someone asking for a quote for car parts. People seem amazed sometimes when you say no sorry we're not XYZ business as if I wouldn't know my house was really a garage or whatever!

ps sorry you had such an awful time re your phone number Rainy. we are all laughing about our funny stories but you must be tearing your hair out. can't remember if you said its sorted yet? fingers crossed it is.

past the witching hour, must sleep or my posts will get increasingly bizarre.... zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    sq:)
