    Flash warning of severe weather

Warning type: Damaging winds and further heavy rain

A further spell of very wet and windy weather is likely across much of the UK during the course of the weekend. With rain falling on to already saturated ground, the risk of further flooding is very high.

Further rainfall amounts of around 25-30mm are expected across Western regions.

Our main concern is the strength of the winds, the latest higher resolution models are suggesting gusts of 90mph across Southern coastal locations Saturday night and in to the early hours of Sunday morning.

The strong winds then extend eastwards, bringing inland gusts of 70mph across the South East, East Anglia and the East Midlands during Sunday.

These wind speeds are not to be taken lightly, damage to property, roofs, and out buildings are a real possibility, we will continue to keep an eye on developments, and will issue an act now weather warning if necessary when the event occurs.

Further to this, the combination of high winds and soft ground leads to an increased risk of trees uprooting.

If you are concerned about your property please visit the Environment Agency website to check the latest flood warnings in your area.

savingqueen - if you feel you would like to have DS assessed then you can request a referral from your GP. If school do it then it comes out of their Ed Psych hours (they only get a few each term) whereas your GP can refer you into CAMHS and that is medical so costs school nothing, they can go into school and offer support and advice to school too. Most schools will try to keep pupils on the roll as it does reflect on them however they will also try to do the least possible - simply as its budgetary.

Mrs C- its lovely to "see" you again, and what a beautiful wheeled personal shopping device :)

I was wondering about the halogen too as I plan on buying one asap, costco have them and they are the ones they use in store for demos so I assume they must be good quality/

Rainy if you dial 1470 before the number you are dialling (ie your mobile number) it will show your number up to the person you are calling - bypassing the number withheld bit. We are number withheld but our LL had a plumber who wouldnt accept caller withheld calls - we had to find out how to unblock it so we could call him!

I am in the middle of the worst migraine of my life, have taken the pain killers and it subsides to being just bearable for an hour or so but then it explodes again and I feel like screaming.

Floose for short it is then!

BTW - has anyone else seen the turkey legs that Mr M are selling?

£4 each, and the one I got weighed more than 2kgs! (must have come off an ostrich!). I bagged and roasted it, collected the juice and used some for turkey dripping for toast, took the meat off the bones and used them and some meat to make turkey casserole that did dinner for two plus lunch for two, made a turkey pie dinner for two and turkey curry for two - oh plus two cold turkey rolls, and some for the cat :rotfl:!

I have the other leg in the freezer...:rotfl:

I then started to get odd phone calls so rang BT and they said no problem we'll change your number. Gave me a new number but didn't tell me it had been registered to a firm of taxis before hand. You guessed it, every loon and his bit of stuff was on the phone trying to book a taxi and it went through the roof on Saturday night and Sunday morning at 4am  BT said oh sorry we didn't tell it was previously registered to a business!! !!!!!!

OMG I am SO feeling your pain....mine is exactly the same numbers as a local taxi firm but in a different order. There are two local prefixes 321 and 312 our last three numbers are the same. So lots of people are used to dialling the 'other' number anyway and I cannot TELL you how many phone calls I get in the early hours of the morning, especially at the weekend, and holidays. I try to remember to take the flaming phone off the hook before I go to bed.

I contemplated changing it too, but we'd already had stuff printed with our number on for OH's business. So we tough it out!

Nice trolley :D I'm at a Christmas fair tomorrow where my friend is selling her makes. Charms and keyrings. I plan on nabbing myself something to fancy my black trolley up. It will be like my right arm when I move.

Speaking of which. I'm moving near a river - I know, recoil in horror. A stupid thing for a prepper in the making. My question is, is there anyway of watching whether a river is going to flood?

Did I mention I was moving :rotfl: (sorry) :o

Fuddle I think if you go onto the Environment Agency website you can sign up for flood alerts - they ring or text you if the river is on a high alert :).

:) Years ago, a pal of mine here in Provincial City had the same number as a police station in a town 20 miles up the road. On a completely-different area code, btw. He had idiots calling him at all hours insisting he was Tiddleumpty Cop Shop instead of a private number in the city. Got it changed in the end.

:) You can register for flood alerts by phone inc mobiles and email by going to the Enviroment Agency's website, Fuddle. I registered a couple of years ago and casually mentioned it to SuperGran and she was registered, too. And her flat is on an upper floor unlike mine.

You could try befriending an older member of the community where you'll be living and see if they have any recollections of flooding on what is your new home ground. Or local history books/ websites/ newspaper cuttings.

I don't spend too much time worrying about what "my" river may get up to. If she goes, she goes..........and I'll have to bug out PDQ but that's why I have contents insurance.

Right, little more interwebbing then offline as I don't sleep well if in front of the pooter until bedtime.

Keep warm and well, everyone and glad to see Mrs Chip back again.
