Hi, not a great morning so far in our house. I came home last night to a letter from the tax credit people. Seems that as OH was unemployed for a short period 2 years ago. They use the previous years earnings for the next tax credit year and thats when the problems start. I rang, said that would be wrong but was told it gets sorted at the end. Now i owe £2300 bloomin pounds. Have had to beg to pay so much per month, well its £50. So im in debt for the next 4 years....... Im so upset, why dont they listen when you try and explain. The first payment is due on christmas day.
Yeserday the back box on the car fell off, that was another repair - what is it with cars???
Well im going for a long soak in the bath.
take care everyone. xBSC member 137

Aha! How obvious
Checked a floodplain interactive map http://www.doncasterwx.co.uk/floodmap.htm we're on a floodplain alright. Things get near at sea level + 4 metres. The far end of the estate will flood at sea level + 7 metres and my hoose will flood at sea level + 9 metres. It sounds scary but I suspect it might take something freak to get sea level rises on that scale. I hope  Edit: Environment agengy map suggests that the green field infront of the houses has a significant risk of flooding. Our street is not included in that risk but, we're talking less than 1 minute walk. That's near in my book and I shall be prepared for floodI'm not sure I would like to enter the rent to buy scheme now. A bit to think about.
I'm already showing DD pic's of orange faced teenage girls compared to those modelling on the Next website - (funky but natural) She's got a passion for make up and perfume and I'm crying inside at the thought of her turning into something a bit eeek. Good luck P I don't at all envy you!
Edit: made cauliflower mash last night and it went down very well with the girls. Just steamed cauli, a bit salt and pepper, knob of butter and a tiny splash of milk. It's bizarrely got a sweet and creamy taste
I'm envying myself even less when it appears she doesn't even know what dance she has to do. Ah well, can't escape it now.
+9 seems a lot but you can probably research what level that river has flooded to in the past. Is it tidal?
BTW I edited my post as I was wrong about teetotal, seems nobody has a definite answer as to why it's called that.0 -
Fuddle you could always make a Spritzer with your wine if it is strong, by adding lemonade, sparkling water or soda water, try googling for some ideas.

Nutty, if it's been incurred before the BR it's a debt that will be included in the BR, tax credits or not as far as I understand. I do hope so. I am scared witless about tax credits. It's a horrible system and a system that we have no control over. All we can do is tell someone on the end of the phone and hope that our details are changed to reflect it. I hate leaving my finances to other people. I feel for you nutty, I really do
I also know how it must make your blood boil at the fact that you're in debt (although, you're not ok. You have not incurred any debt, this is not to knock your rebuilding ok, or your self esteem or anything about getting better you know what I mean, I know you do
)
tea-total sounds right to meYeah, the river is tidal.

Jem - are you ok love? thinking of you.
good news PIC, big relief
oh no nutty, why don't they listen? so unfair. Can you appeal? I'm sure there is somewhere you can write to if you don't agree with the assessment. Can you brave posting on the benefits board to ask?
They mucked up our tax credits despite me phoning to advise of a change and then filling in the new assessment form. Apparently we owe them about £90 and I can't work out how and our tax credits have stopped. I have stashed away the £90 just in case (they haven't actually asked us to pay it back which I don't understand) and am not worrying about it.
Glad you slept VJs mum (as did I but still feel like a washed out washy thing)
Used to go and watch my friend compete in feis (sp? plural sp?) in the 70s Possession. I used to be shocked at the prices of the handmade dresses but my friend and her sister had such beautiful hand embroided heavy velvet dresses. They used to have their hair set in ringlets but there wasn't any make-up in those days.
I have been going backwards through posts as missed some but realise its a bit futile as new posts appear all the time so will stop! Stalling instead of doing as feel really tired. Ok off to get dressed and start cleaning, get a couple of hours in before taking boys to their new dance class.
thinking of you all and wishing you all the strength to cope with whatever life chucks at you and a big steaming cup of your fav drink and a large slice of cake of whatever you fancy - real or virtual, take your pick :coffee:
I need to replenish choc supplies when I pick up some very unOS fairy cakes and a birthday cake later - hope DS isn't disappointed.
take care

next to the title of the thread. It takes you back where you last read but doesn't work some times, still it's easier to find where you last read. Another trick is the thank the last post you read and then when you next log on look at your last 'thanked' post and you'll get right back to here you last read every time. Hope to help
Edit: Shopping trolley. Mine is thisDo you think spraying it with waterproofing spray would work to help keep it water tight? Just a thought. I can't see why not.

Thank you fuddle - will try that out when my brain is in gear. Hoping it will hope someone else too
I have another headache and feel overwhelmed with tasks to do so DH has offered to clean the whole house  , he can be a right lazy whatsit but he can also be a darling! Today he is in the darling category.Only thing is his version of cleaning and mine don't quite match. Decided to go with DH's offer even if its a cat's lick.... for my sanity's sake. He is already dusting with the car cleaning cloth (I will not nag I promise!)
I can concentrate on the odds like pass the parcels still not done, last party bits like the cakes to buy, taking DS1 to buy a card for his brother (he always makes one with me but again no time this year), going to dance class and picking up spare car seats for our lovely friend who has offered to collect party children whose parents don't have cars (we don't live near the school and lots of people here can't afford a car.) I just need to get the essentials done and determined to chill this eve as want to enjoy DS's birthday and have enough energy to handle a house full of small boys (and a solitary brave girl.)
sorry I am rambling. Finished cuppa so off to do something practical and try not to log on here for at least an hour:rotfl:
ps remember when posters were saying why they chose their usernames? Mine is very boring I know but I was listening to Abba at the time and somehow dancing queen morphed into saving queen so when you think of my username you need to sing it to the tune of "Dancing Queen"!
onwards and upwards

Fruit Cobbler Recipe
In an oven proof dish add in 1 mug of self raising flour, 1 mug of granulated sugar and 1 mug of milk. Mix it all up so it's thoroughly mixed together and then add 1 tin of value tinned fruit of your choice on top. Bake in the oven on gas mark 4 until golden. The flour mix will rise up above the fruit.
I did this with a tub of stewed apples over the top and it worked lovely; was asked to definitely make again. My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).

Morning all - hug to those who need them.
Kidcat - it never ends does it? Hope all well now.
Got a bit of a car problem - boo - noticed reverse lights weren't working so got new bulbs and checked fuse but not solved problem also got a tail light not working but the very self same bulb lights up for the brake light and that is working!!?? So looks like we have an electrics problem, b*gger. Booked into garage for Monday morning, really hope they can sort it as I have a mental week ahead as usual and really need to get to Bolton to the Kidz up North show to suss out a double special needs buggy for the kids and to have a look at some other paediatric equipment we are beginning to need. I find it best to know what to ask the OTs for as they don't volunteer what they have available or can get!
On a lighter note we have our Christmas crafts workshop this afternoon in the village hall - got all the stuff ready just need to get it down to the village hall later and see how many people turn up - apparently will be quite a few.
Catch you all laters. X0 -
Savingqueen my user name came around because we had just put in a veg plot when I signed up. Now have 4 plots in the garden and share a lottie with another couple.
Had a lovely sleep in this morning whilst OH took DD to a Coaching course paid for by her athletics club. OH said that the gym hall they have met in is freezing cold and she is still suffering quite badly with sinusitis.
On his way back home he called at my parents as dad has a lot of wheat in the garage and I want to make a wheat bag to use at work. I am using colleagues at work at the moment but yesterday we were both suffering and were taking it in turns to use it. I have decided with my newly acquired sewing skills I can make my own. I only need a few hand fulls and he brought home a 10ltr paint bucket full. That’s a lot of wheat bags.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.
