Kidcat is it night terrors with DS8? My DS used to get them terribly, absolutely frightened the life out of me the first time, and the second time we were on the M25 so it wasn't much better. His eyes are open and he looks and sounds absolutely terrified by something but he isn't awake. He always got them when he was poorly or very tired. Has pretty much grown out of them now, or at least they have mellowed a lot.

I meant to comment on this earlier but didn't have time. I suffered from night terrors and hypnopompic sensations for a couple of years recently

    http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-hypnopompic-hallucinations.htm

the doctor told me he thought they would decrease once I got the gluten free diet right for a few months (he linked it to my wheat allergy and celiac disease and the effects of having small amounts of grains still in my diet ) and recommended that I take magnesium and taurine as supplements daily. I did and the night terrors and hypnopompic hallucinations stopped completely and I started sleeping like a baby again. I still dream but do not have night terrors or the sensations coming out of sleep any more. I don't know if this information helps but I thought you might find it interesting.:T

My sympathies to all of you dealing with shocking weather. Here on the 'Sunshine Island' it has been grey and blustery with rain now and then. Having looked at the forecast I'm off out tomorrow morning to have a stock up so we can survive at least for a week without having to go out if necessary.
I'm getting a bit twitchy about the forecast of snow in the near future. Hoping that it holds off until the Rev has had her operation (scheduled for Dec 6th). She won't be able to drive for about 6 - 8 weeks and I won't drive. It's not the driving that bothers me, heavens I learnt to drive on snow and ice in the winter of 62/63, but I will not reverse into the narrow driveway beside the manse. It's on a busy one way system with cars parked both sides of the road and just leaving a small gap between the cars to reverse through a narrow gateway with a wall on one side and the wall of the church on the other. I reckon there is about a foot spare. My reversing is nothing to write home about anyway. The only alternative is to park in the public car park up the road. Which costs.

How did I get on to this boring subject?
Oh yes, getting in supplies before the snow.

Thankfully I have my trolley.(thank you GQ) and the High Street at the end of the road.
    Why am I panicking?
    No idea.

Going now before I embarrass myself further.

Sorry you lost the money BYatt but relieved you can stay in - I must say though that if you are booked to do the job and they cancel then they should pay at least a percentage.

Monnagran - could you ask someone else to reverse it for you? I hated parallel parking and survived two years of driving totally avoiding it - my neighbour used to end up doing it most days:o, nowadays I drive the tank and most days I can park it anywhere, but for a few days last week I just baulked and would not even attempt it - no idea why. It led to some interesting parking - over two bays, opposite side of car park, on odd angles etc, then just as suddenly I was able to do it.
It may be an idea to have a practise now while the Rev is about to help - just in case.

2tonsils - thank you, we are going to look into diet when we have sensory under control (I can only cope with a few specialists under way at any one time), but as neither boy is good at eating, I am inclined to think we may not be able to alter much of their diet at this stage.

Thanks Kidcat but it's just not practical. There are very few neighbours - it's mostly doctors surgeries, solicitors and dentists and the church of course. Plenty of pedestrians that have to be avoided, plus wriggling backwards through the parked cars, while those cars coming behind toot in fury at being made to wait while you manoeuvre back and forth, then trying to avoid scraping along the walls........Nah! Stronger folk than me have balked at trying to get into our drive,

    Parallel parking? Piece of cake.

2tonsils I have those hallucinations, have seen a lizard, bright green, spiders, once a person, and looking so incredibly real I've jumped out of bed in fright or screamed!

I have frightened my OH to death by screaming or leaping out of bed when he has been fast asleep oblivious to my dreaming. I have seen spiders as well (not frightened of them at all) coloured shapes like snowflakes, miniature angels, flourescent spheres floating up and down to the ceiling and rainbow coloured waves of energy. I have even got to the stage of knowing I am dreaming but force myself awake and force my eyes open (in reality) and I can still see the images clearly for about twenty seconds before they draw away from me and disappear. I thought it was some craziness brought on by the menopause but I did a survey on my facebook friends and quite a few of them got the hallucinations either on entering sleep or leaving it. Even my sister had them and she had never mentioned it once to me!

As for the menopause, I was so distracted by the celiac disease and Hashimoto's thyroiditis that I sailed through it with no problems LOL:rotfl:

Poor DS8. Hope you can get some sleep tonight kidcat.

I'd love to see some pics of Rosie too.

DH has an old Hi vis jacket at work so I'm going to wash it and make 2 x body sashes if I can. I'm hoping to use a bit to tie round Alfie too. Fingers crossed.

Is it normal for a room window to be dripping wet with water when it isn't used and not heated? It's the problem room. The condensation just never goes away in there even when in use and heated. 24 days and counting.

Oh, reminds me. LL called. He wants to come for a pre leaving visit at the end of the month and then another one when we leave, of course. I've said to DH I want non of it. I don't care to deal with the man. I'll be on a dog walk when he comes ;)

I tell you what though, i'll miss the old couple next door. I can hear their music now, sounds like choir singing. Really nice actually :)

Fuddle, thought of you when I stopped to get fuel tonight on the way home. Mr M's petrol stations have Children's AA's High Vis Packs, £1.99 it contains 2 snap bands, 1 high vis vest, 1 strap and 1 high vis keyring.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

Oh great, thank you unigirl. The possibilities are endless with hi vis. The council directed me to a site that charged £10.50 for a sash band, plus delivery. Naughty me contacted them in the hope they might have a freebie walk to school scheme. Should have known really.

Fuddle - I was given a high viz vest for DS8 and DD6 when they were in nursery as we had to cross a really busy road, they were given out by the schools transport dept I believe, and I know a few others have since been given them as they walk to school near a busy road - if may be worth enquiring if your council has something similar in operation.

Also both kids schools have the vests they use for outings, they may be able to loan you a couple as long as they are available in school for outings. :)

ETA - Crossposted I see you tried the council already
  • Morning everyone

Wrote a long [STRIKE]5000 word essay[/STRIKE] post :D and it was so depressing so thought I would start again.

At the charity shop this morning, hopefully I won't buy more than I take :p

Does anyone know if you can apply for a blue badge without claiming for sick benefits? I really struggle shopping, sometimes its miles to a space and I can't cope. I don't need sick money I just need a nearer/wider space.
