  • Morning all. Its taken me a few days to catch up adn post as every single time i sat down to read and try to remember who to reply to i heard 'muuuummmmm - can you help me.....' or 'muuuummmyyyyy - come look!' sigh.
Anyway - hugs to all who need them and i hope you all feel better soon.
Yesterday i went to visit a friend and got lots of lovely cuddles from her baby. Little one is teething and a bit miserable but she spotted the shortbread biscuit i was eating and grabbed it! She gummed it to a sodden lump, smeared it all over her face, dribbled it all over my hand as i held it so she couldnt swallow and choke and then gave the last inch to the very patiently waiting Henry dog:rotfl:. Her mum was in stitches watching which was good as she has not been getting much sleep and was feeling a bit down herself.
Talking of stitches (knitted ones) i am knitting a baby shawl for one of my sisters and last night i finally figured out why my stitches werent decreasing. Yes k2tog is a decrease - but not when combined with a yarn over:(. I had to rip out 4 inches of work, pick the stitches back up and do a k3tog instead. Decreasing now happily going on so hopefully the centre square will soon be finished and i can move onto the border and then the edging. I have a deadline of approx 8 weeks as although baby isnt due until end of february, my sister as prem babies.
  • Morning All,

I hope everyone is surviving this really weird weather. I got on the bus in calm, dry weather and got off an hour later into a howling storm.

Mar - I'm glad it's not only me who has musical double glazing. When the wind blows from one particular direction it sounds like there is a 3-year old with a harmonica in the room!

I made some pastry last night using half marg, half lard and a bit more water and it is currently resting in the fridge, watch this space for updates on whether I can roll it out ok! Tonight's tasks are another quiche, plus some Mary Berry spiced cup cakes - nom nom nom.

Have a good day everyone (and I hope you get your loo fixed GQ)
  • hi everyone, please can I join in with you all? we are going through a really tough time at the moment and i'm hoping to be able to pick up some tips on managing our budget better and getting through the coming months really. we are in an IVA at the moment, almost 2 years in but consequently are on a tight budget and not doing very well! I am wanting to try to build up a few savings for when something goes wrong (which it inevitably does!) but we obviously have to do this from our existing allowances, after we are paid next week, it's a new start for us so I'm hoping that I'll be able to pick up lots of tips about things I haven't thought of to make my money stretch further

Horrible weather again today - mainly the wind. Our new double glazing plays wee tunes in high winds, its like the background music to winter in a log cabin in bloody Siberia.

We get that too, we call it Jazz Windows! Horrible innit.

Weather is pretty grim here as well.

:) Thanks hun, they called me back about 30 mins after I left the msg (which was left before 8am) and I'll have a plumber "this morning" so sitting here with legs crossed!

Och well, worse things happen at sea. Just hope it's a fluke and not a precursor of a history of problems. I have brought my "plumber's snake" forward in the undersink cupboard just in case. I found it in the Tool Box section of £land a few years ago and wished I'd bought a couple as it sometimes has awaydays at a pal with cranky kitchen sink drain. She scalds it clean with boiling water before returning it, I hasten to add.

Please tell me it isn't just me who is sniggering at the phrase "Plumber's snake" :rotfl:

On which note I will put on my grown up expression and head off to my fortnightly meeting. They bribe us to attend with Danish Pastries so I'd better get there sharpish!
  • an amazing offer. I got eight 2013 annuals for £15.15 and that included free p and p. Absolutely brilliant if you have several children/ football fans to buy for, thay also have a few `women`s` albums, less than the price of a magazine to read over christmas. That half price on the screen also coming in as BOGOF

Kittie the Scottish weather forums are getting really excited about Dec - so some places up here might in line for some snow, although we get snow in this village every winter because of the height.

I`ll check for your area Mar, I normally just check for mine plus a general all over look. I`ll be more specific in a mo
  • Only for Mar and where she lives. I only see showers and gales mar to 19-23 then perhaps a bit of the white stuff and hail. Then 24-28 maybe heavy white stuff but only NE scotland and only maybe

Whatever happens re weather anyway, we should always be prepared like the good preppers that we are
