We have a bit of weather here and the cat is running up the walls, he is most upset at the wind and is running out his catflap then round the street and crying at the front door. I know he probably needs a wee and doesnt want to risk it :rotfl::rotfl: still no reason to try and sit on the plate holding my cheesecake.

Just been to Hobbycraft, Im such a good girl I only spent a fiver. I deserved something pretty after hospital yesterday. Good news OH cancer hasnt grown so we wait another 12 months to next check up. However the specialist, who has had a charisma transplant, has said any worries about it or the other problems he deals with for OH just ring his secretary and she will fit us in quickly :T and we have a dedicated nurse we can ring as well. I thought I had dropped my favourite little scissors in the waiting room but they just turned up in my bag, really couldnt have justified going all the way back to see if they had been handed in (and then found them in my bag :o)

DD&D glad you are doing ok, we missed you.

Hugs to all struggling am off to light a candle for us all. x

Back from my shopping trip and was very good, just got a couple of stocking fillers and some mini ports from B&M for DH. Good news and bad news today. Good - the Vax vacuum I bought in last year's Amazon black friday sale has broken, and all credit to Amazon without any fuss at all they are sending me another. Bad - we need 2 new tyres which will be over £200. Still, another good, DH gets his first pay cheque tomorrow, so celebratory tyres it is.
Very windy here and the Avon has flooded in places.
  • GINNY that is wonderful news, I am so pleased for you both, it sounds as though the specialist understands just how scary the whole situation is for you, glad they are on call for worries for you.

Poor putty cat, I wish him/her a couple of quiet days worth of weather so he/she can wee in peace and catch up on putty cat dozes.

Glad you found your scissors, Stay warm and safe, Cheers Lyn anna SSSLLLUURRRRRPPPPPP!!!!! for Mr GINNY from the Dockling for bein er kleva bwoy!!!!!!xxxxx.

Softstuff, how you doing?? I managed to get some red miso paste today, so tomorrow will try the recipe you gave. I also got some Chinese 5 spice, and it smells lovely, but what do I do with it?

edit, I got some old camping pans from the CS today for £1.50, they are 3 pans which group together to make one. Thought they'd be ideal for my stove.

I use five spice for all sorts of things...I use it in Chinese style chicken and sweetcorn soup with a dash of sesame oil , its great in stir fry and can be used as a rub for meat mixed with sherry or even cherry juice. I have even added it to apple crumble when I ran out of cinnamon, but don't tell anyone:rotfl:

I used to have some of those camping pans, they were great. I had them for years.

BYATT - The 3 in 1 pans will work really well on the woodburner, I have 2 Half moon pans (each one is half a saucepan) and they really heat things up fast. Really good for mulled cider too, well found. I hope your lovely woodburner has made your house a home for you and made you soooooo comfortable and warm, Cheers Lyn xxx
  • the wind is frightening the living daylights out of me. Huge gusts, it`s terrible. Not due to die down til 9. Its one hell of a storm, PC was so very right but I was expecting it more north. Would have been terrible travelling up to liverpool this afternoon but dh said it would have saved on fuel. There is going to be some dreadful damage in places

Must put some calming music on and have a cup of camomile
  • KITTIE - Stay safe and stay in, I'll be thinking of you this evening and sending you lots of Hugs and hoping you get through it unscathed, including property. Chin up petal, put t'kettle on and make t'tea, Cheers Lyn and Docky xxx.

Another weather warning is being issued by UK stormchasers later today. Here is a copy of the latest:

The strong winds continue with some phenomenal rainfall returns out there, with embedded thunderstorms, in what we call a 'squall line'.

We are keeping an eye on yet another deep area of low pressure for Saturday in to the early hours of Sunday morning across the South, with storm force winds possible (different model outputs vary) and yet more heavy rain, another advanced weather warning will be issued 6pm tonight.

    Stay safe out there.

I am getting some updates on my facebook from my friends in the UK and many of them are starting to get unnerved at the gusts of wind and flooding. Hope you are all safe and well and that your property remains undamaged. Off to phone my mother in law to make sure she is okay. She lives near York in sheltered accommodation. I did warn her about the weather but I think she thought I was exaggerating. She can't understand how I know what her weather will be like in advance when I live over in Greece.

  • RNLI have been brought in to nearest small town, on standby and parish councils have been told to prepare for people displaced by floods and storm damage

yes re saturday and the weather 2T, dh has e mailed family to stay away. It is massively worse than the met office said
  • The wind is ok where i am in london so we are ok. I hope their isnt too much damage where you all are.
I have just been to visit the Coca-cola truck with my youngest and we had our photo taken. I dont know what it looks like as it isnt available on the website yet. Biggest surprise was turning around in the queue and the lady behind me was someone i knew an awfully long time ago. I couldnt remember her name and she couldnt remember mine but we knew that we knew each other! So a nice five minute catch up.
Katieowl i think it was you who said about flooding? I hope it gets no worse and your neighbour is ok.
