a pylon has been blown down further south and electricity is off in several areas in the county. I`m going to put the candles and lanterns handy
omg the windows are rattling and they are solid wood triple glazed ie strong ones. Pity help those with flimsy windows0 -
It's a good thing we're prepared isn't it KITTIE, bad enough to weather the weather when you have your emergency gear at the ready, it would be 100 times worse if you had none, stay safe and warm, Lyn xxxxx.0

Here's me saying boo to having no rain to test my coat and I find people further down the country at risk of displacement. The words 'double what the Met Office say' is ringing in my ears.
Hope all properties are unscathed. Hang on in there this evening kittie, stay by your fire Byatt and I hope Katie your friend is ok... as you and yours!0 -
yes, thank goodness for os prepping! 3 lanterns on charge but I think they are full anyway. Candle wicks trimmed and ready. Dh has filled a large flask and brand new powerful wind up torch is on a `just in case `charge although I think that is also full. Ds lites are charged anyway and scrabble cards handy. Crackers of all sorts and veggie pastes in tubes are easy to get to, so we`ll be fine. Unfortunately it is already pitch black here so we won`t be able to see how others are faring in the village
That info about RNLI was scary though as they are on standby to help in low lying areas0 -
Hello. I hope you don't mind me popping on here. I read but don't tend to post. It is really windy in West Yorkshire. I'm so glad that we have sorted the garden and put chairs etc away for the winter.
Our neighbours fence has just blown down, it's completely wrecked. They are still at work so DH has been out to make it safe.
The rain has started, we were forecast it much earlier in the day. Stay safe everyone.

BYATT - any cider at all and even apple juice is lovely. I put cider, cloves, cinnamon stick, sliced orange and lemon in the pan and pop it on the stove, when it is warmed through add sugar to your taste and that will depend on if the original cider is dry or sweet, and pull to side of the stove and it will stay warm as long as you want it to, sit back, feel snuggly and enjoy, preferably with your feet on a stool and with a good book in your other hand, Cheers Lyn xxx. Love the BESS picture xxxxx.0

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-20428990?SThisFB Gulp at the car blowing over bit!
We're not so bad here as we live on a peninsula so our weather tends to be a bit different. It's wet and windy, but nothing too bad. Wheelie bins that were emptied today were blowing over. It's supposed to be worse overnight.
Katie I hurt my hamstring falling off a stool which then tipped on it's side before my legs hit it. I had to have physiotherapy in the end so if it's no better in a week or so a visit to the doctor may be in order.
Ginny glad to hear the news.
I was soaked on the school run (coat stayed waterproof, but I don't have waterproof trousers) so I had my PJs on by 4pm.
Oh, and on the subject of singing double glazing, when mine does that my friend who installs it comes round and tightens up a few bits here and there until it's a lot quieter...
Take care and I hope you all stay safe.0 -
DS and OH managed to barricade my friends house before any real damage was done. The road had totally flooded, and it was pouring into her front garden, which is down from the road. Twas' brimming up on her doorstep
I just drove DS to Tesco, and the road is still flooded but gone down a lot thank goodness.0 -
Hmm tricky one Byatt. I think you need to know more about the neighbour before judging either way.0
