just been a very long list on local radio. Absolute nightmare for people and drivers, worse than anyone remembers

Was getting cabin fever but oh so happy to be staying in and not becoming a statistic. Still pouring and staff cannot get into work

fuddle - would waterproofing spray help with your coat - it may be cheaper than buying a coat?

Crazy! You've got it really badly. Yes, stay in. I wish I could. We just have rain though. All I have to deal with is getting wet. Roads are fine and no warnings for us.

Tomorrow wind speeds of 26mph with gusts of 50mph around 3pm school pick up. I suspect it will actually be a little worse.

Hold on, I've got some tent spray. I go get it!
  • all school buses cancelled. Police should have got warnings out to people much earlier re staying put at home, so many have gone out and their cars are swamped

It's Grangers - proofer for soft and hard shell fabrics. Think that will work on my jacket?

Fuddle i would try a discreet area first and test if it changes the colour of the coat first. If not give it a go, might be a good temporary measure.

I have some stuff I bought in one of the outdoor shops, which washes in - basically you put some in the washing machine with the coat(s) and it re-proofs them. It worked well, but I don't know about tent re-proofing stuff. In principle it should work, but as nuttyp says, worth doing a test, as if it looks awful the coat could be ruined (ok for dark rainy nights maybe :-D )

So much sadness and worry this morning, even for people we don't know. Poor cows :( RSPCA would be your best bet I guess but, oh what do you do?

Had a little misery myself this morning. DD got to school (eldest) this morning and was in tears. It's pouring here too and all comes to all she has holes in her shoes and her tights were wet. She didn't want to say anything because we told her we would have to be very careful with money this month. I walked home and got her dry shoes and tights. From now on if it's raining the girls will be taking their wellies. I really don't care whether there's room on the pegs for a carrier bag.

I'm wet through. My waterproof is not waterproof and I'm miserable... and about to do it all again in 40 minutes.

Our job on Saturday is to source waterproof trousers for the girls and I and a ski jacket for me. Hopefully the shoes DD has on, although not school colours, will last till my pay comes in. Money is tight but the move money is there. Christmas is a concern but we'll manage. I've bought some things already.

Update on my tax. I have finally received a P46 through the post from county hall. They said they will send it off and therefore i'll be taken off emergency tax. We shall see. I think it's too late for this pay.

Were in for a rough few days with the weather. Hang in there everyone.

Fuddle what size is littlest DD? I have a good waterproof Regatta jacket age 5-6 DD has grown out of - it isn't school colours but would keep wearer dry up top. Ebay often good for waterproof trousers, and Matalan good for ski jackets if you don't see one on ebay.

Silvasava that's lovely news and getting married on a cruise is very special.

I'll dry it out and try under the arm. Even if it can get me till after Christmas it'll be worth doing. Thanks Kidcat, thanks everyone. I'm going to need it regardless tomorrow.

Byatt, you do earn your money! You've got yourself some interesting clients :D

Possession we're ok for jackets for the girls. That's one thing I was determined to get right. Thanks though :)

Morning everyone, have woken up with the worst headache ever. I had a sortof headache last night, but went straight to bed when i got in from work. I think its because ive just done 7 days of lates and i usually work 4 max in a row. With all the unemployment why cant they recruit anyone here?? We have had a vacancy for nealry 6 weeks. They interview, offer the job and then .... nothing they dont turn up. Its so damh annoying.

Have been asked to join DD and her friend who has little one aged 18months to go out on monday with them. We are going christmas window shopping, just to have a browse around and a treat of luch somewhere. I get to play pretend nanny for the day!!! I used to take my DD and her friend to collage everyday so shes one of my 'extras' ive picked up as my kids have grown up.
Have got a lovely steak pie from the reduced section in mns, was £2 but will easilly do 2 meals for oh and dd.

Well going for a shower and gonna half a slice of toast with more painkillers.

Hope everyone has a good day.

So sorry to hear so many of us are not well at all, seem so much going on,I had a real bad head when I come out of the hospital yesterday I had to sit in my car and take 3 paracetamol before I could drive off...........Bloody stress I expect...........................

Also loads of foot pain to go with it, I always say when I take painkillers its usually more than one pain that they have to work on.......

Feel a wee bit better today, thank god.........On to the weather , well its dam grey, dank, cloudy, and windy , but no rain here, it was forcasted to be heavy , but we never really get that much rain, but god is it miserable.......
My DIL mum wasnt feeling too good when she woke the other day, had a tingling face and lips, so her sister made her go to the drs, in a few mins she was going to hospital on a blue light, and ended up staying for 4 days , she had a stroke, glad to say she is now home...........Poor lady lost her caring job near enough over night and she was quite stressed about it, so whether that had anything to do with it we dont know, not good at 57 years old.............

Right im now going outside to feed the hens etc, hope theyve not got blown away in this wind..........Catch you all later...Sheila..
