My parents bought us a poinsettia last year, it looked really good on the windowsill and then as soon as Christmas was over it died, I was a little upset, are they supposed to just die on the stroke of midnight on the twelfth night?
I have one that is two years old,l I look after it by not touching it or looking at it because OH sorts it when he comes down.
Thanks for all the well dones, I am still skipping!
Savingqueen, how far has DH got? I am doing AP 1 and 2 at the moment and sit both exams on 18th Jan. I am finding it okay but struggle with disposals and blooming accruals and prepayments!I promise that I will do my best.....0 -
Softstuff, I got Sake and Mirin from Te$co, but no miso paste. Was over joyed about the sake as was cheaper than sherry.
*hugs* Jem, it's a shame we can't go together for an MRI and hold each others hands! I'm with everyone else with advice, tell people you're scared (sometimes they tell so many people the same stuff they forget how frightening it can be) and if you don't understand it first time, have them repeat it, explain it, write it down and if necessary draw a flipping diagram. My doc draws lovely piccies when asked.
As for me, scared poopless since I've taken my last tablet and will know in about 12 hours whether I'm ok or not. If the sofa starts to feel like a waltzer at Blackpool, I'm not ok!Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

A brain cell - i remember those, yeah I used to have one it was a long time ago now:rotfl:
DS8 has started screaming in his sleep, he wont wake up so I cannot find out what is the matter, he often will do this and its worse when he is poorly, so definitely off again tomorrow.0 -
Thanks again everyone especially fuddle, wmf and kidcat for your words of wisdom. You're right fuddle I will sod whatever anyone else thinks. All I need to concentrate on is getting DS the help he needs by hook or by crook. DH is on board and supportive - he knows now things are serious especially when I told him about the head getting involved. What I forgot to mention here was that DS also hit out at the headteacher  honestly could it be any worse? Thank you all for being the warm, wise and unjudgemental bunch of wonderful folk you all are on here. I will save my tears and fears for indoors and put on my battle armour to face the tough outdoors.
wmf - DH also works in a uni so yes a label can make a big difference. I have no problem with labels, class myself as a person with a disability though some people wouldn't think of me as disabled in the stereotypical way some people do IFYKWIM!
kidcat - hope DS8 feels better and hugs re DS14's appointment.

Huge hugs Softstuff. Keeping fingers and toes crossed for you. Have they ruled out labythrinthitis? Makes the room spin either when standing up, or when lying down, but not both. It's an inner ear problem which is surprisingly common but very frightening if you're not expecting it, and if you have the upright version makes life difficult. A least if you have the lying down one you can sleep sitting up... I hope whatever it is, it is something they can sort out quickly as you've had a horrible year.0

good luck softstuff - as greenbee says labyrinthitus makes the room spin like nothing I have ever known, I have walked into doors and walls when it has been bad.
Looking at adding DD to my car insurance, my company wont insure her oops. Then have done a few comparison quotes, an increase of £300 to add her on her provisional, rising to an extra £1000 when she passes:eek:0 -
Car insurance is a total rip off for the young 'uns.
My 18yo passed his test and bought his first car for the princely sum of $400. To insure his baby cost him 963 for six months. But he will get a rate reduction when he turns 19, 21, and 23! That basically covers him for $2million if anybody sues him and only fixes/replaces his car if somebody hits him.
Most young men here face huge bills. Depending on what they drive and their age, i've heard of bills running as high as $8000/year.0 -
The other Rummy link I did didn't work, have a look here:-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01nytn1/Inside_Out_North_East_and_Cumbria_19_11_2012/
The Rummy bit starts at 19. 42.
A lot of people are saying it made them cry, must admit I had a sniff as well! His owners Heather and Lev are so lovely, so genuine. They lost almost everything some years ago and had to start from scratch. Lisa cheering him on made me smile.
I had a message from a musician I really admire (on my FB,) who had seen the programme. Rummy's fame spreads.
In other news...
Huge hugs to all needing, that's my problems in perspective.
Thrilled with my bargain basement Wilko's tall lamp. My old one kept blowing the bulbs (2 golf ball ones) if you didn't press the switch absolutely correctly. I should have returned it to Mr T's but had no receipt.
After 6 bulbs went this year, I realised it would be perhaps best to buy a new lamp. The lamp was £6, wow. It doesn't look £6, the plastic shade could pass for ground glass. Bulb was £2 something, as it's a longlife screw - in.
Freebie slow cooker is amazing. It roasted a chicken beautifully. I'm working out what else I can do in it, but mulled wine is a definite. The lovely meat juices have made super jellied stock for my next soup/stew. Yippee!
Docs in the morning, as I haven't had prescription painkillers for months. Pain (arthritis is hip, it's a bit bad) is reduced when I don't eat but that is not a long term solution, so need some pain relief for winter.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
If it was just dizzyness on its own, it could well have been labyrinthitis. I've had that before with a virus. Couldn't walk straight or upright, had an annoying tendency to bounce off walls like you Kidcat. But the facial numbness (as though I'd had dental anesthetic around the top right quarter of my face), face pain, ear pain, pain and tingling in my side, means there's something else. All on the right side suggests neurological something or other. Could still be shingles hanging around, but we'll see I suppose.
Thanks for the well wishes. I could well be panicking over nothing, but I'm just so tired of this year.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070
