Jem
I have raised intercranial pressure too. I have to have a regular MRI (nothing to be scared of, our one bangs a lot). I have regular check ups at the hospital as all behind my eyes is swollen, I also have regular fields tests to look at my full field of vision.
They think mine is all down to my thyroid being knackered but to be honest they don't know. First the thought I had Idiopathic (means there is no specific cause) Intercranial (inside the skull) Hypertension (higher pressure of fluid) or IIH for short. But now they just don't know.
I have had 4 surgeries on my eye lids to lower them as the pressure behind my eyes made me look pop eyed and once they went back my lids were in spasm. It all sounds really horrible but it is not as bad as it sounds I promise.I promise that I will do my best.....0 -
Afternoon all
Hugs to everyone feeling carp/tired/ill/lost or losing loved ones - life's a bit tough this week, isn't it, even for us lot?
After most of my adult life dealing with feeling sad/tired/depressed, I've finally caved in and seen the doc today. I felt a bit relieved that I'd spoken to her, but also useless/stupid/letting myself or family down that I can't cope as I've always done. I do try hard, but the good days have dried up and the wrinkles I've always used to help myself just don't work any more - this looks so selfish and witless written down, sorry!!
Remember that Batchelors ad for a hug-in-a-mug with the big furry hug....? :rotfl:
Apologies for feeling sorry for myself, when everyone's feeling carp, too!

Jem, I had my latest MRI last week and they gave me the dye stuff. If you're scared at all ask them if you can lie down before they give you the dye. I (stupidly) didn't this time and nearly fainted. The dye can make some people feel quite nauseous afterwards (apparently its quite uncommon), I just want to sleep afterwards. Make sure you take someone with you just to make sure you get home safe if you're not feeling 100% after. ....thinking back to last week I'm wondering what people were thinking seeing me in a state and OH trying to look after me (his face all bandaged up after an op in the morning).CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

Jem:- We are all here if you want to talk to someone, just keep posting and we will all send hugs and prayers.
Cheapskate:- :j Well done you! You didn't say what the GP thought...let me guess...you are slowly going round the bend like all the rest of us!:rotfl: Seriously, I know it's been a huge decision for you, no one is Superwoman, we are all human and you will eventually feel better for asking for help. You are not being selfish not at all.Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
Monnagran I'll join you in the dieting-but-not-too-hard thing if you still want to do it? I need to cut out/down sugar. I don't eat a lot but too much of it is sugar and the craving's so bad I must be addicted and I don't like that
I'm seriously fedup these days of sitting in this house/this room, I hardly ever seem to get out anywhere. Having dreams where everything is dirty and grey, houses with bare dirty walls and concrete slab gardens. I think I need some colour in my life LOL!
As for colour, go and find something red in your wardrobe and wear it!
Jem - like GQ I've had my head MRI'd and although it isn't comfortable, it isn't as bad as you think. Our MRI is now shorter and open both ends, so not nearly as claustrophobic as the old fashioned ones. Yes, it bangs alot, but they do play music, they are used to people being scared (I was anaemic last time I went and nearly passed out on them when they stuck the needle in, as I was having dye put through me) and are very kind. I regularly fall asleep in it when having body scans as they are long and boring... apparently that's not ideal as you need to be able to control breath and movement. As others have said, either take someone with you to take notes (probably best anyway to have someone to hold your hand and do any driving) or ask them to write things down. Or both.0 -

That's what happened to me... turned out I had major iron deficiency as I don't usually have a needle problem. And I have to say, I wasn't keen on the smell of the dye... but it's a lot better than having to have an op so they can have a look!0 -
Hi CHEAPSKATE - I think you are very brave for going to talk to the GP in the first place. The fact that you have taken the first step is wonderful and I am full of admiration as it is not an easy thing to do. This way they will be able to help you help yourself and that is definately not selfish and witless, that is courageous!!!! Keep sharing with us, we're here and we care, you're a good 'un, well done you!!!!! Cheers Lyn xxx anna SSSLLLLLLUUTRRRRRPPPPPPP!!!!! from the Dockling xxx.0

Just got to jump in and say there is a difference between raised intraoccular pressure and intracranial pressure. Raised IOP is common with glaucoma and causes headaches and nausea and in some people dizziness. Raised intracranial pressure is in the brain and a whole other issue.0

Jem it sounds like an amazing percentage of us have had an MRI! I hope everyone has made you feel not quite so bad about it.
Cheapskate - getting help was absolutely the right thing, nothing to feel bad about at all.0 -
