Well after an awful few weeks (and really not feeling like doing anything). OH has paid for a basket weaving course for me as an early christmas present! :j

Its a 1 day course (a lot of money £55) but all materials are supplied and we're taught where to find willow or dogwood, how to prep it and weave it. We're going to be making a round basket on saturday. I'm sooo excited.... is that sad? :o
:D I have to say that if you're sad then I'm sad, too: I'd be thrilled to bits with that.

Basketry is on my to-learn list but there were no evening classes offered this year so I may have to see about scraping together some spondulicks and doing something privately.

Can we have a picture of your finished basket later pls?

Of course! I'll post a pic after my course this weekend. I googled classes and the basket weaver's assoc came up, found someone relatively near me and she runs private tuition and small classes from her home.

Monnagran I'll join you in the dieting-but-not-too-hard thing if you still want to do it? I need to cut out/down sugar. I don't eat a lot but too much of it is sugar and the craving's so bad I must be addicted and I don't like that :)
I'm seriously fedup these days of sitting in this house/this room, I hardly ever seem to get out anywhere. Having dreams where everything is dirty and grey, houses with bare dirty walls and concrete slab gardens. I think I need some colour in my life LOL!

Had torrential rain and really strong winds all night, it eased off for an hour this morning but now its pouring with rain again and the sky is black. I haven't seen the news yet but I suspect places will be flooded.

Going to try a line dancing class tonight with my OH. It's on in the village hall so thankfully we don't have far to travel to get there. It's two hours for five euros so going to see if we like it enough to continue.

Meanwhile I have sent a message to the man who used to teach the kickboxing class in town to ask him how much it is. According to their website you can get the first four classes free to give it a go, so that would be okay. I might think about it after Christmas.

Just been to town to get some bits and the shop I went to had tons of cheap Christmas decorations in. I don't know whether to get a few or not...will leave it till I feel more enthusiastic about it!

Just had baked potato with cheese, green salad and olives..it was lovely and tasty. I have some of the Chinese chicken soup made for later when we get back from the class.

Will be home in time to watch 'Call the midwife' on the Greek tv channel tonight so pleased I will catch it. They seem to be putting on a lot of English language programmes in the afternoons, with subtitles in Greek.

Have a busy week this week, yesterday we went to pay the tax bills then to the gym and supermarket, today we are at the line dancing and went to town, tomorrow at the gym and then OH has a lodge meeting in the evening, Thursday shopping and a birthday party at night. Friday I know we have something besides me helping at the gym but I can't remember what it is! Saturday Church fayre then Greek night,Sunday car boot sales and fishing if its nice.

Weather is wild here too tonsils, wind whipping out of nowhere and spattering rain. Not a day for being outside.
  • Afternoon Toughies, 'orrible and wet here today , so will be going to ground with a good book after I've walked the houndicus this afternoon, preferably in front of the fire with a cuppa, November is not a kind month is it?

KITTIE - How about making some Glace Friuts and some Marrons Glace that involves dunkings in sugar syrup for about 10 days lots of recipes on t'interweb if you dont have them. Florentines are luxury food and jolly expensive so that would be a real treat and how about some homemade liqueurs like the chocolate vodka shown in the last Superscrimpers programme or some devilled almonds easy and yummy. A really nice cheese board, you could buy ahead and not have to go last minute, with some homemade water biscuits, hope that helps, all are things I would be delighted to recieve myself.

Stay warm folks, Cheers Lyn xxx.

    Hello everyone

hope you are all coping ok today. Hugs and warmest wishes to you all.

Wanted to say thank you so much for the wise and kind comments on my recent post about family/friends, particularly kidcat, possession and Byatt.

I have been counting my blessings today and trying not to focus on the negative and think of all the good people and things in my life. Had a lovely morning at school nursery today, hard work but lots of the children have bonded with me (even some of the children who often "make the wrong choice" as one of the teachers say) and they make my heart sing.

Need a kick up the behind, can't seem to get going again. Will focus tomorrow until Friday on cleaning and decluttering house and all the birthday/party preps - hoping the deadline will be enough to catapult me into action!

Also finally getting gaps now in the chest freezer - trying to use as much as possible before the dreaded de-icing session. Easy to use up the packs of mince and bagels etc, harder using all the tiny pots of ????? that I am loathe to bin.

ok need to do a quick supermarket sweep for bits for his lordship and then pick up the kids. will try and catch up a bit on here this eve but need another early night (yawning as I type 'early night')

onwards and upwards, musn't let the side down

hugs to you jem. sorry don't know much about eyes but medical terms and things often sound worse then they are. try not to worry, the doc said you can have treatment so that's positive for a start. will be thinking of you til Friday - we are all here for you love

edit: can you take someone with you on Friday so they can make notes or can you ask the doc or nurse to write down any important information and the actual medical term - explain about your dyslexia if that helps.

    sq:)
