JEM - You're rare, that makes you interesting to the medical profession and I would think they will pull in all the experts to sort you out, certainly the top opthalmology consultant they've got. Tell them you're scared, they'll explain it all to you then and knowledge is strength. Until then I'll be sending you as many Hugs as I can and mentally holding your hand. Chin up little one, and if you are scared tell us, we'll always listen and try to cheer you up, Cheers and love Lyn xxx.
BYATT - It's wonderful, hope you're enjoying it as much as I think you are! L xxx.0 -
Thankyou all mrslw that's why I am going to know what it is on Friday as it's his surgery time so all the specialist will be there so I won't be past from puller to post when he first said lots of tests I started crying saying no not blood been taken it puts the fear of God in me. He said no this can't be diagnosed by a blood test xI have dyslexia so I apologize for my spelling and grammar0

Just be glad pet that you can get MRI scans now - imagine how it was years ago, you wouldn't have known a thing until it was too late. Imagine the MRI scanner as a magic machine that can see what's wrong, and once they know what's wrong, then they will know how to fix it xxx0

Raised Intracranial Pressure?I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Still waiting to hear from dd's school about her grade but I have jollied them up today so fingers crossed.
I do have some nice news though. I was called into my bosses office today, I have been studying at home and in September I passed the AAT Level 2, I am now studying Level 3 at college. I am lucky that work is funding this for me and this morning I have been told I am to get a pay rise to reflect my growing knowledge and qualifications!
I must confess I did a little jig! Yes my tax credit and hb will go down and rightly so but I am still so happy that my effort is being recognised!
Sorry to be all trumpet blowy but I am chuffed to bits!I promise that I will do my best.....0 -
I second telling them that you're scared jem, they need to know hun. DH fainted at the opticians when they found scaring behind his eye. It freaked the optician out and now when DH goes in he makes sure they know so they can have the first aider at hand. Also tell them you're dyslexic too, as is DH. Don't leave until you fully understand.
Byatt! New kettle?! Have you had a cuppa out of it yet? Jeeeeeeeeeeealous!0 -

(((jem))) What I do at the Dr or the hospital is get them to write it dowm, or at least the name of it, as you can then look it up at your leisure and when you're calmer. I don't have dyslexia but medical words are invariably multi sylable (sp?) and based on Latin or Greek and they seem to fall into one ear and straight out the other side without leaving a lasting impression, IYSWIM. No doc has ever given me the slightest funny look or disrespect for asking them to write stuff down, either.
Mind you, they have appalling handwriting as a rule so mebbe ask them to print the name(s).
Like Mar says, you may have an MRI so they can do an non-invasive look-see inside. They're fab things and the process is a piece of cake. I'm claustrophobic and if I can hack having my skull MRI'd I'm sure anyone can.
The worst moment was when they were offering me a choice of radio stations to listen to whilst inside the machine and they mentioned Halfwit FM, our local indy station, and something I cannot stand...........:p Luckily, Radio 4 was on offer as well so I went with that.
I have weird stuff and I think you do get better treatment if the top wallahs are interested in your problem. A major teaching hospital expressed an interest in experimenting on me once my condition stabilised (their exact words).
I moved and fell under the remit of another hospital although my consultant covers both of them and remain quite unexperimented-upon, and happy about that.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Jem try not to worry too much. When I was diagnosed with glaucoma, my consultant thought that my eyes weren't tracking properly ie they were looking in two different directions so she sent me for an MRI and it was fine. They may well be ordering an MRI to ensure there is nothing. But I do understand how worried you must be. Don't worry about the scan, you just lie on a table and they pad round your head so you can't move before they slide you into the scanner. It's not claustrophobic and in fact it's quite relaxingIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
