Katieowl, sounds the same as I did when I tried to help my daughter lift a railway sleeper that was lying in her back garden - I just lifted my end and something exploded in my hip and that lasted about 4 days & I still have twinges sometimes. This is rugby country too and our A&E is full of big muddy men at weekends.
Hellish night and morning here, am sat at the window watching the clouds race past and listening to the rain. Thankful that I don't work cos I can see the car lights on the A7 in a steady stream - must be branches and stuff on the road as they going slow.
I got a new deck of tarot cards in the post at weekend - is rare for me to buy cards as I'm not a collector like some folk. But these are HUGE ! more like place matsgod knows how you're supposed to shuffle them

Hope everyone has a good day hugs to Katie and everyone else who needs them xxxxxI have dyslexia so I apologize for my spelling and grammar0 -
Glad you're feeling a bit better Jem.
I guess this is why John Lewis spent £6 million on their advert:

Thank goodness you're ok Kate. I had visions of you plastered from head to toe last night.
jem good to read you're feeling a little better this morning.
Still waiting on what school the girls have accepted in to. It's driving me crazy not knowing. I'm not doing too good to be honest. My face has broken out in spots and last week I lost 3lb in weight (not trying) I think I have put myself under a lot of pressure last week and it's taking it's toll now.
DH and I have decided that I won't work until after our holidays in 7 months time (need to save again now though) Then we'll save for a little car for me and I'll go back to work full time. I quite fancy working in the nurseries for a change. I hope with my qualifications and experience, my quiet confidence and polite manner (big head lol) I should be ok finding work. Nursery nurse jobs are coming up all the time. There's a couple of centres near us that offer before and after school clubs so the move will at least enable me to work. There's nothing like that round here so my hands have been tied really. It's exciting to feel like we're moving on, starting again and rebuilding.
I've been painting a farmhouse chair I had. I picked it up for a car boot a few years back with the intention of stripping it. I just never got round to buying the stuff I needed to do it and as DD needs a desk chair for the move I figured I'd paint it cream. It's got undercoat and 2 coats of cream with a clear floor varnish on the top. It should be ok.0 -
Well good morning all the toughies out there. Had a very slow day yesterday, but still didnt get home from work until nearly 10. Have just realised how close christmas is. I havent got any presents yet, DD17 the youngest has asked for a netbook/tablet for xmas. Not sure if i can stretch to that one. DD asked for a handbag, and i got that new from @bay. Half price compared to a new one, although it still has the tags on.
My mum popped round and agreed to go to the dentist with me tomorrow to take for daughter, will pop into town after to go to b&m stores, as there is a new huge one that has just opened. Would like to go to poundland but that mite be a bit of a push as its the other side of town.BSC member 137

That's a lovely chair Fuddle. Now, get yourself a nice cup of tea, a biccy and sit down, put your feet up and have a rest. The girls school will be fine, you need to chill a little after all the stress you've had recently. I'd favour a little daytime TV if I were you.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070

Morning all.
Jem - glad you're feeling more positive, and yes would be good, any Weds - give me a shout.
Katie - hope you're not to achy this morning - know it's hard but please try to take advice and rest up! (nag over - lol)
Dishwasher is lovely!! Was so nice to come down to a clear surface this morning and all washing up done and ready to put away.
Needed a crowbar to get the kids up this morning - they might be only 18 months and 3 1/2 but I'm sure they are practicing to be teenagers - DS didn't even open his eyes, just grunted at me! (ok he can't talk yet but it was a very teenage grunt) and DD's response to time to get up was "no mummy" before shutting her eyes again! It's not even as if we've had a particularly tiring weekend - ah well!
Got asked at nursery today if my two had had chicken pox as it is going round again and I said no but I don't mind now! - It was my nightmare the night before the wedding, I woke up and both kids were covered in chicken pox spots - I woke up in a cold sweat after that one I can tell you! Going to let DS have a quiet day today so may have a little play on the pooter and sew some of my fleece squares - I'm appliquing hearts and flowers before stitching squares together to make a throw for DD's bed out of cut up Ikea fleeces in red purple and turquoise and then will do the same with little cars and trucks for DS.
Have a good day all. X0 -
Morning everyone,
I've been keeping up with people's news but didn't post at the weekend as I was frantically trying to prepare a presentation for work.
Fuddle - imagine your best-friend telling you everything you've been through in the last couple of months: I'm sure you'd tell her to sit down and take things easy for a while. So that's what we're telling you to do!
Lisakay - I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Take care of yourself and your family.
Katie - ouch, ouch, ouch take it easy.
I had a fun cookery weekend: SDG's pulled pork went down a treat - thanks for the recipe! And I'd been sent a baking product to test which meant I just had to bake a cake and some pastry. I asked OH what cake he fancied and he said the Bero Walnut cake which his mum used to make for him when he was little: so no pressure there then! I think it came out ok.
Our local church mag came through the door and they are looking for people to knit little jumper and hat sets for babies in Uganda. I've had a fancy for doing some knitting for a wee while now so that's perfect timing and I'm going to give it a go.
Enough wittering already. Hope everyone's week goes ok.0 -
OK I made two lots of fudge yesterday, one with white chocolate, one with dark, with exactly the same method. The dark is set and the white is still squidgy and obviously planning to always be so, what's that all about?!
Also made ginger hollows, and in disgust at the fudge I've just been forced to eat two.
PS. the children will be happy about the fudge since it can't go into hampers and therefore they will be able to eat it! Hmm, sabotage perhaps ...0 -

White choc is notoriously hard to work with....want to show me the recipe and I'll see if it's anything obvious? I had the devils own job getting my fudge to work consistently until I changed the recipe. Anything that doesn't set will keep practically forever in the fridge and can be heated for ice cream/pancake sauce - ask me how I know
