Jem - could you join a group at school or something, maybe the PTA or similar?

I hate driving through that tunnel but as I'm near Crystal Palace and my dad lives in near Romford, it's either that or out and the QE2 bridge

Good price on the curtains can I ask which shop it is in Romford?
I thought we were going to go over the bridge too until he turnt right at the end of my road instead of left! The shop was Poundstretcher and they had a lovely range of curtains in all sizes.

I live leeds I would love to meet up with like minded people everyone thinks I am mad cooking from scratch and shopping different places, preparing for winter.unless they need something then it jem will have /do it.

Sorry I am just feeling a bit down.

Which side of Leeds? I'm not so far off, in a village just outside Skipton. I have Wednesdays child free if you fancy coffee in Saltaire or somewhere. Walk in sounds a good idea if still bleeding.

Sounds like you have motivated yourself Jem just by getting things off your chest to us here. Hope your hand feels better by morning and you get to have a wander round the Cs's.

PAH hope you feel more like yourself soon. hugs ginny

I have an itis or so I thought then I found a beta blocker on the bookshelf at the top of the stairs (they are to prevent migraine in my case) so I must have put it down and forgot to take it last night or the night before  am happy though cos it means Im not coming down with something.

Love the sound of the cobbler, it really couldnt be easier could it?

had Dgs for a few hours today and it was lovely, except when he wanted to go in the back garden dressed in grandads jumper - he really needs to stop leaving them lying around :( result one muddy boy and jumper and one exasperated Grandma!

oh ginny but what fun ay?:rotfl:

I have discovered that the pain meds make me loose tongued and I lose all tact it seems - thankfully my friend has stopped me making some major faux pas today on FB - which would have been entirely truthful but could have caused a war!!:D

Softstuff, thanks for the aubergine recipe it sounds wonderful, I need to get the miso ingredients, but I can see me using them often. If I can't get saki, can I substitute? :)
I use chinese cooking rice wine instead, you can get that there if you have any sort of Chinese grocery store. I'd be inclined to hunt some down, since I can post a fair few recipes that use it! As Possession says, I've read you can substitute sherry, but I've never tried it as I can't fathom how something so different would pan out! Plus sherry here is dearer than chinese cooking wine!

Once you have some miso, there are a lot of good recipes from there!

Yikes, Prepareathome, that's a hell of an experience.... Take it easy for a while and be gentle on yourself *hugs*

Sorry to hear of your hand Jem, I'm familiar with how much that hurts. Not to mention the pain of throwing away what you grate yourself into.

Kidcat, when I read of your lights my first thought was those push-in timer switches. They install quite easily, it's just the cost of the switch itself. (I just checked, they're at Wickes - http://www.wickes.co.uk/time-delay-switch/invt/711338/)

Pooped today, been up in the night feeling rough and had a fairly busy weekend considering I'm not too good. That said, all of the Christmas shopping (gifts etc) is done now, so don't need to go anywhere busy in December. My lovely hubby is running round doing the housework before he goes to work, he needs a halo :A

Thanks softstuff :) well done on getting finished for Christmas, my aim is to be entirely done before end of November as I really want to do all the Christmassy stuff and enjoy it without the panic of still having stuff to do. :)
