Cranky I think the John Lewis ad was filmed in New Zealand this summer so wouldn't be surprised if it cost that much. I've seen it talked about a lot online already so definitely good advertising, although whether when you add the cost of airtime/advertising space it will make them enough extra sales, who knows? They must certainly be gambling it does, the battle for xmas retail sales is a fierce one.
I confess when I lived in London pre-kids and quite well-off, I regularly browsed what I called John Lewis Gorgeous Things Dept in my local Oxford St branch. I thought nothing of buying DH little knick knacks, virtually all of which we've since given away. Really you should live your life backwards, you'd make much wiser decisions!
Danetastic I get so tired with such childishness. Try not to let it hurt you.

smiley - am so glad he got sorted, its appalling that workers have so few rights these days and also that there is such poor info out there for people.

Gailey - its lovely to hear how you are doing, its good that your DD is happier at her new school too.

Two years passes in a blink of an eye when there are kids involved but its worth remembering that when you get down to one year left its possible you may be able to negotiate a full and final settlement figure which is less. We paid our debts off between six and twelve months early as all companies concerned took a much lower sum. Ours were all defaulted debts though that had taken years but I do know people who have managed to do the same with "normal" debts too.

Pops, I'm feeling a bit warmer too and I'm sure it's because it wasn't windy today. I have fairly good double glazing, but there's a couple of spots where the wind sneaks through. I'm glad the town clock was stopped - it's usually not accurate and wrecks the two minutes silence.
The bag of prepped veg will work out much cheaper than buying items individually as you probably wouldn't be able to use it all up in time.

So pleased about the house Fuddle, some good advice about the rats from others, so won't add. Re the deposit -I'm sure all will be well.

Smiley - echoing what others have said, hope it works out for your neighbour.

Will gladly add my hands for healing, Mard.

I was reading somewhere that the John Lewis advert cost £6 million to make. Is it just me or is that a massive waste of money?

Just think what profits they must be anticipating in order to justify that much!! I haven't seen it yet.

Gailey - nice to see you. I always think of you and Fuddle as being quite similar. It's a shame you don't live closer :D

Phew but I've been busy this PM - with the weather supposedly being yuck tomorrow and then I've got work for a week and a half, I thought I'd better make the most of being able to pick up the incessant leaves and clear, manure and dig over the veg patch. I am pleased to report that it is all now done and i am sitting with a cuppa and some HM banana bread and a catch up here. OH is cooking the paella while I make up our bed and juggle washing and do the ironing. There really isn't any rest for the wicked is there? Tomorrow I have to clean the whole house as it won't get done at all while i am away, and make some dinners for the freezer for while I am away. I do try and make it as easy as possible for OH.

THere is burger all on the TV tonight as I don't watch I'm allegedly a so called celebrity. I will have to call on my friendly household i-player - maybe an "who do you think you are?" that I haven't seen.

  • Hi everyone.

WHY are Aldi still selling fireworks on the 11th Nov? Last night round here sounded like the blinking battle of Trafalgar at about 11 o'clock.
Have got a pork joint simmering away in the slow cooker for pulled pork later, smelling good.
Annoyed this afternoon, had to go and sleep for 4 hours (my body just shut down on me) so lost all of the daylight to do usefull stuff. decided I really must change the blown sidelight in the car as MOT due in 4 weeks. The blinking bolt holding the headlight unit in snapped off. Am now gonna have to take it to the blooming garage to get the bolt drilled out, a bill I had not planned for. :(
OH decided to finally wash and anti corrosion 2 of the motorbikes , just got them washed and waiting for the coating spray to dry and the heavens opened, just hope most of the spray has stuck.

I've joined Flickr but couldn't see the pics Stiltwalker, as they are set to private, apparently.

Hopefully somebody who uses Flickr a lot can tell you what to do if you want them to be seen.
