ATM I think I'm being sent to Coventry by a group of friends. Was friendly with another girl who put a nasty comment on Facebook regarding one of the others dogs. I got caught in the middle . Now neither side are talking to me ( sounds just like being at school all over again) . I usually get my tripe and raw food from one of the group every month but last time they got it they FORGOT I'd need some . Heyho fortunately I managed to get a supply from elsewhere and it's better quality too so good came out of that one . This weekend there's a dog show and all parties will be there . Think I'll go show my dogs and leave. I can't be do e with the hassle . Mood isnt helping
Sorry for the moan
I thought that after school was over all that childishness would be left behind. Sad to say it isn't! I work in an office full of women and it is shocking how some behave.
Hard to keep perspective on things like this when you are already down. Plus everything feels so personal!
Hoping that they are all over it by the weekend and you don't have any issues!0 -
Smiley that's really awful. : (0

smiley - if they were taken on by the agency, I assumed the agency had a duty to pay? I worked at a call centre through an agency once and was paid by the agency, all holiday requests etc had to be made through the agency, my employer was considered to be the agency and my reference had to be done by them too.
Mrs LW -I read it as mice originally too, especially with all the rat talk.

Kidcat you are right - I've done some googling and found that there is an agency workers' helpline and information on direct.gov where it says the agency has a duty to pay you whether or not they have been paid. I've been and told my neighbours and they are delighted, thank you!
Oh, now I feel goooooood because I have been the bearer of glad tidings to lift someone's gloom.
Right, off to do some notes for one of my students and then some housework. Must stop foofling around on t'interweb!Aspire not to have more but to be more.

LADIES LADIES LADIES!!!!! The only reason it is MINCE is because the shop had run out of MICE - well, make do and mend and all that!!!!! I'm sure I've got a recipe somewhere though!!!!!
SMILEY - You're such a good little person, you care about everyone and hurt for them and are glad for them when good things happen. Thank you, just for being the you that you are, you're a cracker!!!!!
DANETASTIC - We own a badge that says'THE MORE I SEE OF PEOPLE, THE MORE I LOVE MY DOG!' and when we have days like that from people like those we wear it on our coats in the expectation of meeting them, it's cathartic!!!! Chin up chicken, it'll pass!! Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
Well, I am fuming on behalf of my neighbour. Her husband works in the building trade and at the moment employment is sporadic because of the recession. He managed to get a job a few weeks ago and has bust his guts putting in overtime (50+ hours/week) to try and earn as much money as he can to put into the family pot. Yesterday he was told that the company were going bankrupt. So not only does he no longer have a job, he isn't going to get paid for the 200 hours he's worked in the last four weeks :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:. Apparently there isn't a government scheme you can apply to for compensation in these cases. It's not the first time it has happened to him. I am so mad, I could cry for them. The company must have known they were going bankrupt, it doesn't just happen overnight, surely? So why have workers flogging their guts out and knowing you aren't going to pay them? I bet the fatcats at the top will have something stashed away somewhere and aren't worrying about eating, heating, and how to afford presents for their little girl this Christmas! Apparently there is a legal loophole that these companies exploit. The workers are taken on through an agency which means the company can say they don't have any rights to payment if the company goes bankrupt because they were not employees. I'm going to write to my MP asking for this loophole to be closed if possible.
I will not swear. I will not swear. I will not swear.
Swear away - I shan't mind! In fact I'll join in on your behalf. I think it's disgusting that they let him work overtime knowing full well they were going down. Like you say they must have known. What utter scumbags (that's not swearing is it?) Bet they all have their !!!!!s covered for Xmas

I'm really worried about my deposit kidcat but I have all manor of evidence and he doesn't have my money, it's in a scheme. I have proof to cover every issue that has come up. Hopefully should there be an issue he won't have a leg to stand on because I need every penny of my deposit back for this house. I am scared though.
In England at least, it is almost impossible for a LL to keep a deposit. If he tries to, simply appeal to the scheme. You will win - however, it might be a while before you get it back. I speak as former LL who didn't even bother to try to keep the deposit when my former tenants trashed the property in all sorts of weird ways (everything from purple paintwork to abandoning about 3 lorryloads of cr*p and for some reason re-wiring the garage with the orange wire you get on electric lawnmowers ) To be honest their £600 wouldn't have paid for very much of what needed to be put right in any case.
So, if he tries to keep any of it, especially given what you have been through, appeal! Good luck.0 -

That's why I love this thread - there is always someone on here who is able and willing to help or point you in the right direction for the info you need. Smileyt - so glad there is light for your neighbours.
The first lot of pics from one friend have just been dropped off so will get DH to put some in the flicker thingy and link you later - there are some beauties, particularly one of DD where it is really clear that she is walking in her walker without help - that was the moment that made everyone tear up.
Right wedding over, honeymoon over - must get back to real life and have a serious tidy and clean as my poor house has been somewhat neglected over the last few weeks what with final panics over finishing off of dresses and exams to be revised for as well as all those last minute things that need doing. At least I don't have piles of washing as the villa came with a washer dryer - yes I got stupidly excited about it! - as it meant I didn't have to bring loads of mucky clothes home. Do still have the massive ironing pile though.
Hugs where needed and add my hands to the healing for anyone who needs some.0 -
Oh do keep an eye on itv3 today. Housewife 49 is on later and am watching mr Tom now. Seeing life in its raw basic form and living in a tiny cottage with just the necessities for living. Hardly any clothes and no knick knacks. I love this film and have seen it at least three times0
