Oh pooky sticky buns. What are you doing to me woman? ;)

Please excuse me as I'm tucking into my egg mayo sandwich as I type. You may be aware that I haven't made my own bread for quite sometime now. I'm happy to report that Lidl multiseed loaf 99p 800g is delicious, has a decent shelf life and at 99p in these times isn't too bad. It is my loaf of choice now but fear not, there's yeast and strong flour in store in case of emergency. ;)

I didn't see any elderflower :( but I did see dragonfly :j my absolute favorite.

The thing is it's not really 'tough' times that are effecting the majority of you all at the moment. It's sheer bad luck, disgraceful societal behaviour, poor health or family influences that are having a negative effect on toughie well being. Life isn't very fair.

It's ok here today, well I'm annoyed as have requested our credit report (do every know and then to make sure it's ok given our history) and find that one entry on DH's file has been changed back to default which will effect us getting a new home at Christmas. So this afternoon I have to revisit all that paperwork and write away my letter asking the bank to conform with legislation. Not too bad but £1+ for a recorded delivery letter and a cat and mouse game of when to send the email through to DH work when he's sat at his desk so he can print the letter and avoid any one else intercepting the depot emails as he doesn't want them knowing their boss has been a bankrupt. I really need to look into a printer for home. Any recommendations for cheapo buy/cheapo ink cartridges?

hi, fuddle im near on the 6 yr mark after my BR and san. t@nd@r still refuses to remove default or close the accounts. They have been sold on to quite a few default collectors. Last correspondence was 6 months, the official receiver is now dealing with it.

I just had another phone call from a company claiming they can claim back the PPI from our house that was repossessed some 16 years back. No idea if I can?? But would I like to pay £99 for them to try. ummmm no I need all the money I have at the moment.

Oh has managed to get a week off in October, and has asked me to look fro a very cheap basic week away. I have found a bargain week to the Algarve, very basic accommodation but there is a pool. £122 each with flights. We can just afford to go, and after the last few days it probably a good escape. Has anyone ever been there, and is it warmish in October?? I know not very money saving, but he thinks we need some time for ourselves.

    Take care everyone x

  • PX87 I've been thinking of your post all morning while I was wandering the shops, I wonder if your brothers girlfriends Mum is having a reaction because she thinks they are just too young to be in the situation they are in. I expect she's not wanting to blame her daughter for getting pregnant and in her head that makes it all your brothers fault. It might not be that she's anti him so much as anti her daughter becoming a mum at such an early age and it wouldn't matter who it was that was the father, her reaction would be the same, probably dissapointed , hurt and worried for thier future which makes for a grumpy outlook doesn't it? It sounds as though your little brother is being so very responsible and adult about it, how many 18 year olds would buy a pram and find a home for them, and try as hard as he is to make a success of things for them? It might be that when baby arrives and the Mum in law sees that they can cope and are coping, she might calm down and see it in a different light. At least he has you batting on his side pet, they are going to need support, I'm really glad you're giving it, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Mrs LW your responces are so well written, how you look into other peoples problems and you can see both sides. Its true what is often taken for arguing is just a bad way of explaining yourself. I can see what was said over the weekend in our house got explained so badly, and taken totally out of context. After finally talking and not shouting at each other I can see exactly what you are saying. things get changed and don't sound exactly how they should.

I haven't heard anything today, youngest DD has revcieved a text message.

PX87, I can see how being pregnant at that age might cause her mum to be worried. I was a teenage mum, and my dad was disgusted at me. After my daughter was born we did make up, and he always ensured she was well cared for - hence why I think things happened over the weekend. Maybe we have given her far too much - I can see that now.
Maybe a nice letter to his gf mum, explaining how he feels and how he plans to support both mum and child (when born would be a start.

    Good luck x

Quick question for all you gardeners - Does anyone grow their own potatoes? If so, Is it easy enough to do with a small garden?

Yes, and you can use tub's, empty compost bags turned inside out or even bags for life, and if you wanted to have a go for this year and you'v got a sheltered spot, see if you can get some first early seed potatoe's, planted now you should be lifting them at the end of september.hth

Nutty if you have proof that you have written San. (recorded delivery receipt) requesting that they comply with legislation - mark settled/satisfied (or other way that does not record default) and initial default date not be later than BR date, then refer them to The Information Commissioner. San have 28 calendar days from receiving your request to mark the changes and then, if they haven't, The Information Commissioner will act.

ALSO Important nutty. I wouldn't be making any PPI claims as a bankrupt, ex or otherwise if it's before your BR date. It has been suggested that IS are taking on solicitors to gain back PPI claims for bankruptcy files past and present. If you claimed (the solicitor would flag it up) then you are likely to have to pay the money to IS.

Edit: final reminder to creditor before ICO action

NOTICE - LETTER BEFORE ACTION – BREACH OF THE DATA PROTECTION ACT BY CREDITOR.

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I refer to my letter dated xx/xx/20xx and received at the registered address of your Data Controller on xx/xx20xx. Proof of your receipt of this is attached.

In my letter I required you to correct the information on my Credit Reference Files in accordance with the Data Protection Act and the guidance issued by the Information Commissioner.

I was declared bankrupt on xx/xx/20xx and subsequently discharged on xx/xx/20xx, and an account held with CREDITOR at the time was covered by this bankruptcy.

    Namely:

    Details of account(s)

For your convenience I also included with my initial letter:

    List of documents you included.

    I required that you:

    - Mark these accounts in some way to indicate that these accounts are settled or satisfied.

    - Amend the default entry to be no later than <Date if your bankruptcy>, in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

You had 28 days to correct this information.

You have so far failed to comply with this request and your obligations under the Data Protection Act.

Therefore I wish to remind you of your obligations and give you a final chance to correct the information.

You have 28 days from receipt of this letter to do so.

Should you fail to make the corrections required, further formal action will be taken.

I would appreciate your due diligence in this matter.

    Yours faithfully

Hope to help nutty. It matters to us because the credit file is major in getting private rentals so I know how upsetting it is.

Roll on yesterday, He used the last of his cash & took his girlfriend to buy a pram.

They spent over an hour in the store choosing one they both liked. Making sure it was safe from birth ect. The agreement was, My brother took it to their place (Which is currently being decorated) so no one has to touch it until the baby is born.

This has sparked a huge row with the GF mother now,

Telling my brother hes going to be a useless father & that he has to bring it to theirs so the mother can try it on her baby daughter who's nearly 2.

Maybe i'm the stupid one, But would anyone else do that? Just hand over a brand new pram so that another baby could use it before your own?

I'm hoping to see him today & hopefully he has common sense to tell the mother where she can stick her ideas!

    Princessx87

Can I suggest that the mother sees your son as a cash cow? For someone so young he is stumping up to the plate in a way few youngsters that age could manage. Maybe a contrast to her experience of men???

For the future, perhaps you could refer him to the local www.freegle.co.uk group or freecycle; there is usually a lot of baby gear, furniture, bedding and kitchen gear on those sites. He needs to get some saving behind him rather than spending money on new stuff.

The MIL's other problems may be that if her daughter leaves, she faces a substantial loss of income from benefits? She might prefer two lots of housing support etc?

Fuddle, thankyou - I was sure it was not allowed to be claimed. The man on the telephone said that he was looking at quite a bit of money but I would need to pay an up front fee. I know from reading on here that alarm bells should ring when money up front is mentioned. Well I said no, and im glad I did. The last thing I want to do is drag up the BR past or cause any problem with the official receiver - he was always nice to me and helpful.

I will be retrieving the credit files for us both and then I will copy the letter and post it off. Hopefully that will be the end of everything.

The behaviour of Saint Ender is appalling. We have laws for a reason and they need to comply. IO if they fail to correct the file promptly after that letter.
