SDG - Why not leave DH in bed and go out anyway. I don't know your or your situation but even a walk might make you feel a bit better.

Beccatje - hope the shock wears off soon and new opportunities come your way.

I am sorry to just barge on in...

Fuddle, great news lady! You have every right to be well chuffed. I would leave the rats to be the LL's problem. :-)

Beccatje, I'm so sorry. What is the job situation like in the Netherlands? Hope it's better than here and that your DH is in a sector where there are other opportunities
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Fuddle, couldn't be more pleased. You say you don't think you'll sign up to the Rent to Buy scheme but what is the downside if you do? I mean , is it more expensive than just renting? Would it help to re-establish your credit rating for a mortgage a bit sooner?

    Thanks everyone.

Elect meter read - £16 to run that dehumidifier. If I'm honest I thought i would be more so it's a pleasant surprise.

Rat poison. Is it poisonous to dogs? I'll clear away feeders in the morning. I tell you what else I do, I hide Alfie's food all round the garden for him to hunt out. I'd best stop doing that too.

Tea for kids. The girls have been to their gran's (MIL) this morning and have come home wanting cups of tea. Is it ok for 8 and 4 year olds do you think?

Fuddle - fab news - am sooo pleased for you. Hurray for a new house for Christmas!!
Beccatje - thinking of you. The shock feeling will pass and fighting feelings and strength will emerge. We are all here cheering you and DH on. Sunnier days ahead for you.
Paid in C - I've looked out the suntan cream and am going to enjoy a spot of sunbathing when we all go away. Yippee!
Mardatha - was down your way today so I waved to the hills and thought of you - you're so in tune that I'm sure you knew.
Soft Stuff - was going to make your curry tonight but tum not so good with the spicy stuff at the moment so it's going to be something from the freezer.
Kittie - hope you'r beginning to feel a bit better. I still have a crackly ear and my cold started 3 weeks ago. Mine was just a stinking cold though, not flu. Take care and keep warm. Loved the fail-me-never remedy that one of our lovely lot posted - can't remember who but do remember it included head steaming and toddies. That's what I did but used some V!ck in the water. It really helps. Also the original Benyl!n in the red bottle helped (but can't take that with alcohol). This is not medical advice, just saying things that helped.

Off to light my candle and send positive thoughts to all.

yes Fuddle, mine both had loads of cups of tea when young - now 25 and 27 and still avid tea drinkers

Fuddle I always gave mine very milky tea at that age - so milky that there was hardly any caffeine in it, probably about as much as hot chocolate

Excellent news Fuddle! The rats are definitely the LL's responsibility to sort but I'd be inclined to put some bait down too.
What is the girls' new school like?

the girl's school, if we can get into it, is an Ofsted outstanding and is over subscribed so I think the chances of getting my two in are slim. I'll try though and cross the next hurdle if/when we get to it (I'm anxious about it though)

We are going to talk to the agents about it next week mary. The reason why we don't think we'll b able to go for it is because you apply for a mortgage in principle, or something like that. Being still under the bankruptcy for the next 2+ years I don't think we'll stand a chance. We're going to try but I've already given up on that it.
