Evening all
Everyone sounds more positive than recently - hope the sun's made you all feel better!
We had our 3rd day of sun, which we spent doing more gardening, so now I ache all over. Dug out some 30 year old heather that's overtaken the front garden, loads of roots still there, but have filled 3 bags for the tips, plus the couple DH filled with grass clippings etc. Yesterday I finally planted some spuds, goodness knows if or when they'll be ready, but the weather's only just got right this last few weeks! Got pumpkins to re-plant, plum tree and 3 hand-me-down blackcurrants look promising, so better than I hoped for!:rotfl: Skies look grey, so bet we get some rain now.
I had a bottom drawer before I got married, and I like the idea of one for retirement, or tough times/SHTF even. I'm doing something like this but never thought of it as a bottom drawer - thanks for the idea grandma!

Oh wow shegar, the spectacle sounds amazing.
We love going to the sunderland air show, its freaks ds2 out a bit with the loud noises but he's getting better.
Not sure if there's anything like that near you, the one at sunderland is free entry. Its set on the beach so you can sit down with a picnic, my partner is mad about about ww2.
We didn't go out today, think ds1 might be coming down with something, knowing us its the measles. Ds2 is still recovering, so I spent the day watching tv, gardening and playing on games.
I was a very bad mummy and made ds2 laugh so much he wee'd himself
Making spicy chicken wings for tea and maybe risotto or pata salad. It was supposed to rain today, instead its been lovely.0 -

We live a stones throw from the cliffs where the battle of Britain took place, we get an awful lot of fly bys for different occasions. We have a daily spitfire fly over,it's accompanied by 2 helicopters and you can go up in them to fly along side and take photos (dread to think how much it costs) but its a lovely sight. We were due to have an air show next weekend but it's been cancelled due to funding issues. Sad as it draws a lot of people into the town. It's all done over the sea so you can see it from so many vantage points along the beaches and cliffs. We took DHs granddad last yer, he wasn't able to see the planes due to his poor sight but he could tell us what was flying over from the engine noise, he was in the RAF during the war andhe had such a lovely time telling us about the planes he flew. Sadly he was taken ill that evening and passed away a couple of months later, we were sop leased he managed to spend one of his last days listening to the planes he loved.
Been lovely here, sunny but breezy, just how I like it. Got lawns cut, beds weeded and as Mum was here she repotted all my indoor plants, my bay tree and my herb bed. She also emptied my compost bin and dug it around some beds (she's a star).
DH spent most of the day in bed, he's on a downwards spriral at the moment and just wanted peace and quiet and to feel safe. I got him up for dinner but he's gone back to bed now, hopefully tomorrow will be a better day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Had a lovely day yesterday at the stud.
This is baby Boo, Angrove Mumsbuns, who is a strapping little filly foal. I was just looking at a four week t'bred foal on the Queen's Horses with Claire Balding, he was very backward compared with this little madam.
She has quite a plain head, but spectacular markings.
Her half brother meanwhile has a gorgeous head, but you can't see it well in this pic. He was out of shot most of the time, but it didn't matter.
Fatty, Angrove Fatrascal. He is 10 months old.
The one horse at the stud we DID cuddle was Angrove Spottedick, the stallion, Pudding.
Normally 'cuddling a stallion' is a sentence akin to 'patting an alligator', as they are stroppy expletives, they have to be, but Pudding is a softie at home and loves a bit of attention.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Fuddle, I wonder if you were in Great Ayton at any time yesterday- that's where we were. I can't remember going through Gt Ayton before, only most of the places round it, pretty little place. Anyway, it'll be the first of many visits, I'm sure.
For Jack Russell fans, this is the Angrove dog, Charlie. He was very ill last week - he had a stroke, but has made a very good recovery, as dogs often do from this.
In the bottom of the pic you can see the Stedifoot gizmo fitted to my walking stick. It's a shaped 'foot' which clips on to the stick. It's to aid with uneven and slippery surfaces, which was a real help on grass and rough ground yesterday.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Fab pics Mcculloch, you must have had a lovely day, (gorgeous horses) well deserved, pooch is a darling too.
Hiya Jem, sympathise with the depression, I struggle constantly, nice to see you back.
It rained near the end of the day here, but overall a fab weekend, and lots done.

Wishing we had fly pasts here - we once saw a Spitfire go over and the noise was lovely. My dad was RAF in the war too and he loved them. We sometimes get the big Hercules flying very low, I love that too. And we're in a designated low-flying area, so the coos regularly jump out of their wee socks at the jets going over. I love them as well, although sometimes the noise literally makes the ground shake0
