It's harder without a will, and will cost for the solicitor's to do it, also if anything get's 'promised' to anyone it can cause argument's.

We've asked her a few times to please do it so its easier on us in that difficult sutuation but as yet she hasn't. I know I would like to have my dad's player of the year trophy. I would think it will be something my sister wants too. I'll be the one who sorts it all out with solicitors then because it's what I do.

You know I cannot imagine leaving my children the 'legacy' that I will inherit. The amount of stuff I am going to have to clear/fix/clean/sort/remove/organise is something which I am very bitter about and cannot understand. My mam isn't a hoarder but she is filling her house with all those bottles. How the heck am I going to cope removing all that in front of neighbours I grew up around? Anyway, think cottages fuddle :) off I go to Pinterest to add to my dream home folder ;)

    Another lovely day ahh heaven:)

Lovely to have you back monnogran, sounds like you had a lovely time with you family. Glad, you enjoyed yourself. X

not quite sure how it all works with wills fuddle.
Sounds like you have had a peaceful weekend :).

The villages around north yorkshire are so quaint and the scenery is amazing. Rose dale is really nice and there is a steam four alfie and the girls to play in. can't wait full ds2 gets his cast off so we can go.

had another day on the garden, ds1 helped me move the decorative broken paving slabs. They were really unstable, one part was just tiny concrete bits on top of broken bits. So we've cleared the broken bits and put two slabs near the back door to make it less dangerous. So the plan is the part we've cleared were going to gras it. the other part where the grass is dead my oh has agreed to let me grow veg there.happy days :)

    Hi ALFSMUM you surely can

    CARROT ROLL

    8 good sized potatoes
    a little butter/margarine for mashing
    salt and pepper

    FILLING

    2 good sized carrots
    1 onion
    a nut of butter/marge
half a teaspoon of mixed herbs
3 tablespoons of rolled oats/fine oatmeal
1 good teaspoon of marmite/yeast extract
    salt and pepper

Peel and cut the potatoes and cook in boiling water until done. Drain really well and mash adding only seasoning and a little butter/marge they should be dry. Chop the onion small and grate the carrots. Melt the butter/marge in a pan on a low heat and cook the onion until it is transparent, then add the carrots and a little water and cook until carrots are softening. Add in all the other ingredients and cook on a very gentle heat with the lid on until just cooked through. Give it a stir a couple of times to stop it sticking.

Line a baking sheet with some foil and grease it with a little oil/marge etc. Take half the potato and make a flat rectangular base on the foil about half an inch thick, using a little extra potato to make walls along the long sides about half an inch high. Carefully put the carrot filling on to the base between the 'walls'. Cover with the rest of the potato and make sure that the edges are sealed down over the filling. Take a fork and make ridges on the potato to help it go crispy and them spray it with a little oil. Put it into a good heat oven 200/220 deg C for about 45 minutes until the potato is crisp and browning on the outside.

I served it with mushy peas and some gravy. It reheated really well yesterday in the microwave, I gave it 7 minutes covered with a dome.

It's pleasantly savoury but don't expect a 'big' flavour burst, I like it, I hope you do, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Thank you Lyn, it sounds scrumptious. Will let you know how it turns out when I have a go. I have been veggie since I was a teenager (rather a long time ago :rotfl:) so it's nice to have a new recipe to try.

I would love to live in the country but the big problem is as one gets older should/if health suffers these days we'd probably need to be in easy reach for services(care etc...)and we assume we always be able to afford a car/have access to our own transport.

Of course if you have savings of a large amount there ways around such problems.

I'd love to have hens, geese etc...too.

All your plans Fuddle, thoughts of the future and planning are what I suspect we all go through, most of our lives are full of "what if's" And even when you try to plan it can all change in seconds.

Just cooked a Turkey joint(thought I better)well past the use by date and not in the freezer...its cooked fine and in reality, I probably could have waited a bit longer. But it will make sandwiches and meals for a number of days...and can now go back in the fridge cooked.

Got some prepacked sandwiches reduced today, don't think I could make them cheaper buying the ingredients seperately. As an example have just eaten two(malted brown bread, smoked ham, mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, soft cheese)worth £1.05 I paid 26p.

Thought if I make the effort to go to the Northumberland County Show "Oop North" on Bank Holiday(If I am up to it)I can take some of the others with me and a drink in my ruckack.

Altogether I got a variety worth approx £10 for £3. I find two decent sandwiches are as good as a meal for me and they have enough calories, the two I have just eaten came in at around 400 calories.

Can you help me with this idea?

I would like a pot, quite large, for the patio. I would like it to be perennial (I that the right word? I would like the flowers/plants to come every year) but also be interesting every season. Is that possible? How can I plan it? :D

DH watching Skyfall. I'm bored! Who said Softstuff was officially better then Bond? Actually, were us Softstuff. I haven't seen her for a while. If you're reading :) hello

I think softstuff mentioned heading to England for a while, but that may be a figment of my imagination :)

Its been a busy day here again, with more planting and then I decided to build the climbing frame den that DS9 got for his birthday. I worked out it would take about half an hour, two and a half hours later I finally finished :)

I was tempted earlier this week to buy a waterfall basket planter from Aldi on special for £16.99, but decided it was just too expensive, am so glad now as I popped into Wilko today and found the same one for £9.60 :)

DD7 and DS9 have spent alot of time checking to see if the veg plants in the mini greenhouse have grown since yesterday, and are very concerned they havent yet :)

Its supposed to rain for the rest of the week so I suppose that puts an end to my planting for a few days anyway.

Kidcat, If rain stopped play every time here in mancland, we'd never get anything done. Have got a picnic packed in the fridge and a box full of activities for the kids. We shall carry on regardless ;) kids may sit and colour in the greenhouse, or they might find some puddles to splash/sit/roll in!

Had a wander over to watch the great Manchester run earlier. the girls did me proud, rode their bikes all the way there and back and it's a fair old way. They loved watching out for all the different people in fancy dress. I didn't envy them running in the sun we had today, especially those in big heavy furry outfits.

I've managed to burn my shoulders even though I had factor 30 on. used the same cream on the kids and they're fine. I'm going to log off the laptop now, I have thing I want to do, and if I don't turn it off i'll be sat here all night (again!)

Kidkat - Well done on the climbing frame, your DS looks very pleased with it (saw the photos on FB). My two had one similar, they loved it and it got used as all manner of things (they even camped out in it one night)

Went to a local bootfair this morning but they were turning cars away as the car park was full, not very well organised! Ended up venturing a bit further on to buy a new keyboard and try out a new desk chair for my work bench (due to a furniture reshuffle I'm getting a proper sewing/craft area with a bench and drawers and shelves and everything!) found a chair I liked and checked the online price whilst in the store, it was £15 cheaper online and 8% cash back via £co, asked if they'd honour that price I store but they wouldn't....how daft is that? I ordered it online instead and even got free delivery. No wonder shops are reporting low trading figures, they've got to be able to complete with online retailers to stand a chance but to not even be able to price match and online price offered within the same company is insane.

I've glossed door frames this afternoon so now have the gloss fume headache and dry mouth.......Blugh! Ah well, kitchen should be finished this week so it's all worth it.

Fuddle, when a friend's father finally drank himself to death (40+ years in the trying) he left a large country house with one complete and very large stairwell, stretching over several floors, packed from bottom to top with empty wine bottles. Packed solid, I mean; the windows were bowing outwards under the pressure of the bottles.

They had to get a specialist contractor in. But they can be smuggled out 2-3 at a time in a carrier bag if necessary.

I have occasional nightmares about the loft at my parents' place; current plan as their executrix is to get an airplane emergency escape chute, punch a hole in the tiles and connect the loft to a waste lorry via the chute............ sometimes, you have to smile to yourself at the absurdity to life even if it is a little strained around the edges at times.
