If you use Twitter and subsribe to Aldi's twitter feed they are always giving away vouchers and gifts in competitions...usually you just tweet and you are chosen at random..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Kidcat,
My bedroom was really neat and tidy and I did something similar to what you suggested and you guessed it...he snooped and wasn't happy, these problems have only happened in the past fortnight never before...
If I clear what's in the porch and kitchen...all rooms are clear except the landing and if that is taking too long I'll bag it and place it in the garage and explain that I can only get rid of it alternate weeks but that I will do it quicker as my gardener is taking it away...
Still have approx 34 hours surely I can clear it in that time...even better if he gives me a couple extra days over the Bank holiday weekend. The kitchen has to be cleared as they check the central heating on Tuesday and the boiler is in the Kitchen...

I havent seen any news at all today - to be honest I did the school runs etc and went back to bed this morning, collected DS15 at 11.30 as normal then went back to bed again as I didnt sleep last night.
What has happened? Two men armed with a variety of knives, a machete and a meat cleaver set upon another man, believed but not confirmed to be a serving soldier out of uniform, and hacked him to death in broad daylight in the middle of the day in London. He was butchered most foully.
They did so whilst shouting the arabic words meaning God is great and proceeded to stand around making islamacist political rants to camera covered in his blood, until the Police arrived 20 mins later, whereupon they attacked them, and the police shot them.
The attackers are shot but alive, the man they attacked is dead, lots of people are in shock, the emergency committee COBRA is in session and the prime minister and the leader of the oppostion have both come hurtling back from abroad.
It seems a deliberate attempt to provoke violence between muslims and non-muslims. Gawd help us all.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I'm not sure of the definition of terrorism, but it seems to me this was cold blooded murder. They hung around afterwards chatting to passersby, and holding the bloodied weapons. Horrendous. How does anyone talk normally as one of the men did whilst clutching knives and hands covered in blood. Their rhetoric didn't match either as he was saying bring the troops home. (?)0

GQ and Byatt thank you, I can go days without seeing news, the boys get affected by it so much I am inclined to avoid and often miss major stuff. Only found out today there had been a tornado!
I think its hard to draw a distinction between murder and terrorism in these sorts of cases. BUt so sad for the family either way.0 -
Evening toughies and welcome to our delurkers
Pops - does your council do a pre bookable rubbish collection? Our council offers a service to take away bulky items or if someone has a lot of rubbish they can arrange a collection.
Fuddle - give the new neighbours some time to settle, moving is so stressful it bring out the very worst in people.
Lisa - I really wanted to support my local food bank but just couldnt squeeze out the hours,
Its been a difficult two days here, we got DS15 full neuro results back yesterday and I am still reeling from them, he has average IQ and scored above average on loads of things, but he scored in the severely affected area in ways that show a massive impact upon his life. The results effectively mean he will never be capable of driving a car, holding down a job or maintaining a relationship. He cannot recognise any emotion other than extremes and even these he isnt good with.
I think I am in mourning, and I definitely feel guilt. Guilt that DD18 is going to be left with two disabled people to look after when OH and I die. Guilt that he has suffered immensely during his whole time at school and the damage that has done I cannot describe.
Thankfully our Lego tickets arrived this morning and I have found and booked accomodation, I have booked a week at a caravan that is an hour away from Lego, but from there we can also visit other places too. Its a distraction that I definitely need.
(((((((((Kidcat))))))))) give yourself time to grieve. The guilt goes with the territory I think, but having said that, you can't have known, look what has had to be done to find out, and the people he's been with such as teachers and other specialists have not helped. You can't have known what he suffered during his time at school,As for what will happen after your deaths, that is hopefully a long, long way into the future. Can you, when you feel up to it, find out your options. Or your son's options?
I worry about my DD as you know, but can't think too far ahead or it will overwhelm.

Nobody sane would do such a thing, Byatt. But it seems from what has been said during and after this vile and cowardly assault, that it was intended to make a political point.
If you commit murder in broad daylight and hang around making sure you get your picture and your soundbites recorded, before charging armed police, it seems clear that you expect to be made a martyr for whatever twisted cause you think you support. And that your victim's death and your martyrdom will advance your cause.
The difficulty is that there are inevitably a few people in any community who nurse grudges. Some of those grudgeholders will be dangerous and unstable enough to contemplate "retailation" for this by attacking those who they percieve as on these maniacs' "side".
Which could mean any poor soul minding his or her own business could get caught up in some trouble caused by another pig-ignorant, violent and impulsive individual, or worse still, a whole mob of them.
I expect to see on the news by this time tomorrow that there will have been attacks on mosques, homes and individuals. I sincerely hope to be proved wrong, but I expect to be proved right. Some horrific things have been triggered by a single murder at times and a lot of people can get killed as a result.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Thank you BYatt0 -
Ah, GQ, the definition of sanity. Sometimes what is the most frightening is that they are not "insane"...I think for me that is the most disturbing. It seemed to me that they were more concerned about being filmed and having people hear their opinion, than the fact a man was dead and they were the cause of it. It really didn't register on their radar.0
