I've never heard of the Candy Bomber, what a lovely thing to do. I think if the weather is too bad to fly, and given the southern england-scotlandshire courgette pipeline losing its potency over several hundred miles (they go a bit limp, know worra I mean?) and we may have to start looking at alternatives.
I vote you commandeer a boat (was gonna say y but cannot spell it) and drive it around the coast. I shall cheer from the sidelines as I get nervous in more than three feet of water. You can berth high on the Firth of Forth, harness the reindeer and be over the tops to MardathaLand before you can say two shakes of a sherbet fountain.
Right, just getting the map of the UK out on the table, pulling down my eyeshade, applying red lipstick and will be moving planes and boats about with those wooden pushy things like wot they did in the war movies.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I have to say I'm shocked, sickened and saddened by today's events
I can't even begin to describe how I feel about it all. So sorry for that poor man's family.
Something else that saddened me today was the news that a new foodbank is opening just a few hundred yards from my front door. It's obviously good news for the families that need them, but such a shame that they're necessary. I'm tempted to try and magic some more time up from somewhere and do a couple of volunteer shifts for them. It would have to be in the background though, as I'm almost sure that I would know some of the people that would be issued vouchers, at least in passing, and they would be mortified to see someone they know whilst in there.
There is some good news though. A local charity has extended the funding for a community builder facilitator. He's already started getting people together and lots of new community groups have sprung up. a weekly family get together in the church hall, craft sessions at the library, family fitness sessions, a community allotment. Bonds are being made/reinforced between existing groups, new groups, friends of the park and the primary school.
MOst recently (today in fact) groups have been talking with the school about a new community building on the school grounds for parent led groups both in term time and school holidays. Things such as budgeting lessons, cookery classes, recipe swaps, film nights, fitness sessions, family picnics are all being discussed.
oh, does anyone know if the ald! vouchers are in tomorrows paper?
pops, surley there can't be much more to clear?!! Good luck with the visit xx
chicken pox. DD1 got it whilst I was pregnant with DD2 and I've often secretly wondered if that could have been responsible for DD2's cleft lip and, palate. DD2 still hasn't had it despite it having gone round her nursery and reception class several times.
Fuddle, we had new people looking round next door on Monday. I try so hard not to judge on first impressions, but I got a feeling so I hope they don't decide to move in! They were only there to view the house and I had to knock and ask them to move the car as they were blocking the driveway and I needed to get out.
I hope your new neighbours sort themselves out xxfreecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -
lisakay I think there will be another voucher tomorrow in the mirror, It usually appears on the last Thursday on the month. If you buy 2 papers, you can use onthis week and the next one before next Thursday IUGWIM.... This is what me and my mum do.
OH removed old washing machine and the belt had fallen off, but he said the bearings were shot too and then was black oil on the floor where the washer had been. I am the owner of the most basic washer made by argos, and I have a £10 voucher to get something else that we need. No idea what it will be tho.

Lisakay, I am just so upset about the awful news about the soldier.Such a dreadful way to die. And the awful thing is the pictures (all those phones), how will his poor family cope.0

Evening toughies and welcome to our delurkers
Pops - does your council do a pre bookable rubbish collection? Our council offers a service to take away bulky items or if someone has a lot of rubbish they can arrange a collection.
Fuddle - give the new neighbours some time to settle, moving is so stressful it bring out the very worst in people.
Lisa - I really wanted to support my local food bank but just couldnt squeeze out the hours,
Its been a difficult two days here, we got DS15 full neuro results back yesterday and I am still reeling from them, he has average IQ and scored above average on loads of things, but he scored in the severely affected area in ways that show a massive impact upon his life. The results effectively mean he will never be capable of driving a car, holding down a job or maintaining a relationship. He cannot recognise any emotion other than extremes and even these he isnt good with.
I think I am in mourning, and I definitely feel guilt. Guilt that DD18 is going to be left with two disabled people to look after when OH and I die. Guilt that he has suffered immensely during his whole time at school and the damage that has done I cannot describe.
Thankfully our Lego tickets arrived this morning and I have found and booked accomodation, I have booked a week at a caravan that is an hour away from Lego, but from there we can also visit other places too. Its a distraction that I definitely need.0 -

I havent seen any news at all today - to be honest I did the school runs etc and went back to bed this morning, collected DS15 at 11.30 as normal then went back to bed again as I didnt sleep last night.
What has happened?0 -

Pops I moved house twice with tonnes of shredding, it takes so long and the shredder always cuts out after twenty minutes. I finally cleared it not long ago, it was such a relief.
Can you box it neatly stack the boxes and then put a table cloth over it - use as a bedside table?0
