Thank you for the washing machine ideas and markdebby for de-lurking.
the problem with other people dealing with your affairs (LL) is that I have no idea when to expect engineer and will have to stay put these next few days incase he calls.
Father-in-law is down visiting but it's sad news. His partner's mam has died so down to bring the dear lady home (they all moved to Scotland) to be buried with her husband. Our trip may be off next week. They say to please go still as they think the girls will be a distraction for her but... What do you do? We'll talk to them about it when they visit Thurs evening.
When the tea pot says 'warm' does it just mean but some water in before you add the boiling water? I've got a tea-strainer Lyn75p from Wilo's last week. Got a tea pot £4.99 at the range then went to asda and saw the same for £4, not happy. Generic pot in white enamel but enough curves to make it nice looking. I bought Assam (drinking that now - too strong for me but flavour some and will be used) and breakfast tea for when the girls are in bed tonight with DH.
I also have to tell you I started my Christmas shopping today. I have to, a little a month makes it seem much less of a bind. A David Walliams kids book for eldest and a sew your own teddy near for youngest. The girls got a new t-shirt each in Asda, one going through at 50p!
So, it is with regret that I must inform you that I'm about to put the heating on... To dry washing0 -
Afternoon,
I have got a bit behind with the tidying up and wonder if it will be cleared by Friday morning but will crack on all the same...If I can really get on tonight and tomorrow I think I can do it.
I need to clear some more weeds but managed to get the front lawn cut within an hour last evening and today filled all my tubs and baskets with flowers...I just stuck to geraniums, marigolds and pansy's. Hope to whack the back garden down on Thursday...I need a new lawn mower to be honest.
I will still pop out to the music club tonight...need a break...could do with a kind soul to take my garden rubbish away...will have to see if I can find someone..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

The metal tea pot I had used to keep warm after I put the tea and water in. I then so cosy to go over it.
Assam is pretty strong, I can't remember the name of the other tea I used to like. It's mild but strong at thr same time.
I've had the heating on, so much to dry and it's freezing outside so nothing is drying outside.0 -
Aw kez!!!!! I can crochet a tea cosy
you've made my day

Glad it's been nice for you Mar, it makes such a difference to your mood!
I went up to the garden this morning to do a tedious task - I have to riddle the huge pile of earth I have dug out of the top corner - its full of stones, broken glass, rusty metal and roots. Even doing a strenuous job, it was nasty and cold. I worked for a couple of hours then came down, it was no fun.
Sun has now come out and it is so different - lovely and warm.
I'm finding that the cold grey weather is making me really ratty, so really hope that we don't have another summer like the last one!
Tea - for a good pot of tea, I fill the pot with water just off the boil and heat the pot. Kettle back on, then as it comes to the boil empty the pot and put in the tea - teaspoon per person and one for the pot. Pour over the just boiled water. Don't let it boil too long, that way the water loses its oxygen and the tea tastes flatter. Brew for 4-5 mins and pour. I do milk in first, but some do milk last. A cosy will keep it warm, and a top up of boiled water will make it less stewed.
It sounds like a faff, but there is nothing better than a proper cup of tea!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Agree with the tea making and with the rattyness!0

Thank you for the crash course in tea making. Very much appreciated. These are the kind of things I've just never had the opportunity to observe and therefore, pick up the skills.
I agree about the weather too, although not so much rattiness but getting into the mindset of preparing for autumn. Not right is it? Going to be dark here early tonight. I'd rather it be raining or just doing something other than this dark grey, lacklustre of nothing.
Vitamin C? Is that what we should take to stave off colds?
Vitamin D? Do these supplements brighten mood or is it just for the physical effects of not getting enough due to lack of sun?
An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Vitamin C connotations? And was it apple as we didnt have oranges in yesteryear?0 -
I'd say vitamin C as much as anything(they sometimes suggest zinc too)and if possible(and yes I do take an odd vitamin suppliment)I still believe its best obtained by fruit/vegetables etc...
Try this Fuddle:)

I know most of this off by heart but most of my books are all on such topics and I have loads websites that I visit...
I've just had black coffee(rare)as I find it too bitter but it was ok this time...
Will be quite ahead on the tidying I think but as I am restricted due bin collections what isn't cleared I'm moving into the garage...and hope that is acceptable...and will move it from there each week, the recycled bin one week and the normal bin the next...
Seven rooms are tidy...two to clear then its just a bit of polishing and dusting...only untidy because usually you make more of a mess whilst actually tidying as happens when decorating etc..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Afternoon everyone, just had a planting session in the garden and put out 6 moneymaker tomato plants and some african and french marigolds in the borders. He Who Knows has also grown me some Japanese Lanterns this year so we have planted lots of them round the base of our little (but getting bigger) Eucalyptus tree by the summerhouse, should be pretty in the autumn. We both got so cold that we've had cuppasoups to warm up, this is ridiculous in May isn't it?
POPS well done you for keeping going with all the tidying and cleaning and gardening, glad you are popping out occasionally too, as the old saying goes all work an no play makes Pops a very unhappy lad indeed, enjoy your music club this evening.
FUDDLE so sorry to hear of your Father in Laws Parteners sad loss, why don't you give her a ring and ask her if the girls (and you) would make it easier for her next week, sometimes it helps to have people you love around when you're sad and if she thinks she would rather have some quiet time she'll tell you and you could perhaps go another time? If you find Assam Tea too strong you might like Darjeeling, it's a nice flavour and mellow to taste, me I like Kenya but that you can stand a spoon up in!!!!!
MARDATHA just you send that nice warm weather right back down here where it belongs, no more enticing it up the Bonnie Scotland for it's holidays, my little seedlings are all shivering and have blue leaves!!!!!
SQ chin up chicken, we all have days where the world is out of kilter, you just need to get your balance back petal, and you'll be fine. You've been doing so very well for quite a while now, this is just a blip and I'm sure you'll feel better in a few days, HUGS and lots of them!!
Thank you so very much to MEENLARAGH who was not only clever enough to write down the Pulled Pork recipe and stick it to her fridge but also kind enough to send it to me so I can make He Who Knows a happy chappie, Bless you!!!!!
I think the apple a day keeps the doctor away was because most homes had an apple tree and imported things were not affordable, the apple with its Vitamin C would have been important in the winter months when there was very little greenstuff around, Cheers Lyn xxx.0
