Happy birthday Cranky, hope tomorrow passes as well as it can.
I won't store any food stuffs in my loft as we have a regular mouse issue. I'm putting poison down on a fortnightly basis at the moment. I actually mentioned it to our neighbours today as I'm concerned there could be a gap in the party wall somewhere, he was adamant they don't have mice but I'm pretty sure if they're input loft, they're in his too!
Spent the weekend decorating or lying down with vertigo attacks, not really the thing you need when you're trying to climb around on ladders. Have achieved lots though and all the kitchen finishing bits start this week (dado/skirting/blinds etc).
My new larder is fantastic, I no longer have food stored all over the house and have been able to really get stuck into meal planning this week. The cous cous mountain hasn't reduced much but I'm down to my last 5 FB pies. Found a big stack of veggie burger mixes I'd forgotten about so will be using those up over the next few weeks, luckily DDs love them and I can add bits too them and bake in a loaf tin for a meat loaf style dish too.
Cheapskate - I love jackets with beans and cheese and I'd planned them for this evening but forgot DD1 is working so I cooked for them at lunch time and DH and I have just had a marmite bagel instead."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Hi toughies, finally sorted all the washing all done and put away.
Its been a lovely day here, at least we had no rain. Well tomorrow is back to work, 14 hours - thanks for that. It will be a long day!!
The holiday seems so long ago now, even tho we've been home only a few days. We budgeted £100 for our food and to do things. We Had fish and chips at scarborough sitting on a bench. All good except the seagulls come a bit too close for me. The only downside was the fact OH hit a major pot hole, and we had the car checked and the steering bar thingy has a slight bend in it. I am so lucky as DD fianc! works in a garage so it s parts only thing. It has marked one of the rims but there was no damage to us, so to speak.
We went into York, lovely to walk around and see the different types buildings. We had a cuppa in a tea shop, apart from that we bought zilch. OH refused to go I charity shops, but there you go he doesn't realise some of his clothes are from there!!
I think before we take petrol out we spent about £50, this included a 2 for 1 meal as we had voucher from a newspaper. Oldstyle is best, we even waited till after 630pm as they did b1g1f on drinks, so only had to pay for 1 coke.
Just remembered I think this Thursday will be the aldi voucher day in the mirror newspaper. Will get 2, so we can shop there this week and next too.
take care everyone will be back Tuesday. xBSC member 137

SQ - thanks very much, and in true OS/MSE fashion! :rotfl:
Today I am going to the bank to update my account, so will be earning more interest/cashback, even after £2 monthly fee should be around £15! This will be going into a new jam jar for kids' new uniforms for September, along with extra pennies from other sources!

Oh sorry for missing birthdays, happy birthday!
Well, what an uninspiring day it is. The only thing I can do is thow myself into some cleaning.
Sourcing citronella is on my list though as by gosh, midge feat in my garden yesterday evening.
I did want to ask about natural fertiliser for my (DD's) peas? apparently tea bags are fertilisers?
Speaking of tea. Kez DH had some loose leaf tea in a cafe yesterday :rotfl:and is badgering me for a tea pot!!!I'm off to the range tomorrow so hoping to stumble across one. I've been looking in the charity shops round here for a tea cup and saucer but they only seem to have thick mug like ones. The hunt continues. My grandma had a tea set displayed in her china cabinet (not sure if they were china but its what she called the cabinet) it was her pride and joy and never used. Mccollach's candle signature comes to mind as I really don't know what's happened to it now

Pops I store my loo rolls, kitchen roll, cat litter and animal food in the loft and it has been fine.
Currently debating a rack up there for some other preps to organise them a bit!
Miseraburble day here wet and gloomy but yesterday was lovely so can't complain.
Will do some baking I think the cake tin is empty *shock horror* so the boys are feeling neglected
Had some lovely cutandcomeagain spicy mix salad from the garden yesterday, was stuck in a totally unhealthy burger but still
Have a great day all XX0 -
morning all,
thinking of you today Cranky love.
An uninspiring day here too, miserable weather doesn't help. Off to town to buy our 2nd (and last) birthday pressie for DS8, a pressie from my parents as they have sent a cheque and a card. Also need to collect some reserved library books, go to bank etc. HopeI get time to nip in a couple of my usual bargain shops.
Then off to Sansbugs to return the new lunchbag I bought for DS8 - cut off tags, washed and used one day then when I re-examined, the lining is stitched wonky and I can see it will catch in the zip so need to exchange it. Grrrrr!
DH is working from home again but he is so busy I won't get to spend any time with him, such a shame but at least I can drop DS6 home after school, have a quick cuppa (15 mins) before I collect DS8 from school gardening club. Usually we have to hang around for an hour waiting.
Still haven't baked so hopefully after family dinner tonight, need some bread (DS6 said he doesn't like the shop bought now) and we have no homemade cakes or bics at all  My boys also feeling neglected D&DD
better get going, should be quiet in town as its Monday and damp and grey. Prefer it that way, quiet that is not damp and grey!

fuddle - I haven't bought any essential oils for years (got some as a gift from a friend last year too
) but Boots used to sell them and probably still do. Just thinking in case you have any Boots points to use up?

Hi All - grey day here but not raining. DH is wading through a mountain of ironing (mostly his shirts!) Bless. Helped out with his motorcycle club event yesterday. Was doing duty on the entrance taking the dosh. Had a really good time as the biker crowd are all sorts & good fun - lovely atmosphere! I had to stamp hands with a little stamp shaped like a motorbike so people could wander freely inside & outside. The kids loved it (usually stamped both hands) but I had to chuckle - a couple of blokes were heavily tattoed & it was difficult to find a clear space to stamp! (there were some dubious offers though - which I didn't take up!)
Getting on with cleaning the upstairs today & its an effort........:(Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
