Well it's a date. I'm getting a strange bus (eek) to a strange city (eek) get off in a strange bus station (eek) to meet a stranger (eek) kezlou and I are having a cuppa and cake session on Friday morning. :D

Pops any idea how much a 15 minute journey would cost on the bus?

Pops you can get the number 63 to stewarts park, it stops right outside! The park is lovely and the staff in the museum cafe are lovely. Oh and runs regulary on a Sunday too, it does go past james cook but if ask the driver to tell you were the stop is they will and it leaves from the bus station.

We go all the time, its changed in tje past year with more facilities. The honey stall was fab, the market was really busy.

Well I'm going to be very nervous on Friday eek meeting fuddle for a coffee and cake eek.
  • Kidcat As someone else who is also going through the redundancy dance, you and your OH have my sympathy. I think the length of time they are stating is due to his length of service. The one week notice bit only relates to if he wished to leave. Once the redundancy word rears its head then there is a process that has to be gone through.

I just hope the payout he will eventually get is enough to help him get through the next twelve weeks.

    Many Happies McCulloch!

Kidcat Seems very strange that your DH was told how low his scores were, how he wasnt the type of person they want but they've employed him for the past 16 years! Even if he has moved around within the company they should know what his strengths are by now (or he's got a lousy manager) I think your suggestion regarding the union rep is excellent & would give you both a better picture & you can consider your options then instead of being in limbo - dreadful thing to do to anyone.

 Oh my gosh, fuddle, only 4 teabags, that's cutting it a bit fine; I would have been a nervous wreck. So glad your paycheque has cleared and that the larder will be restocked. A well-stocked larder is a great comfort.

(((((kidkat))))) what a horrible situation for you and your OH. I'd second getting the union rep involved.

:) I'm tickled pink that some forumites are meeting for tea and cakes and hope you have a lovely time. So amazing that there are several old stylers in such a small geographic area.

Been tidying up but I bethought me if a representative from my LL turned up unannounced (never happened before but who knows?!) they'd find me in a fine pickle.

The disadvantage of a very small home is that it gets into a muddle very quickly, but the flip side is that you can straighten up quickly as well.

Clothes airer down, ironing done and put away (3 things, VJsMum!) and the floor vacuumed.

In about 1982, I was watching Joan Rivers' first ever UK TV appearance. I was rolling on the floor laughing so hard that I nearly had a Tena lady moment.

She was riffing on about housework and how the trouble is that you clean, you dust, you hoover, and six months later you have to do it all again..............:rotfl:

Kidcat - the three months' faffing about is hard and could be stressful, but I've seen lots of situations where unions have negotiated to get extra time in the process as every day they can gain is another day where people are being paid. So whatever the outcome, at least you know he is being paid for the next three months, and after that there will either be another job there for him or he will get his redundancy payout. But at least you know the money is still coming in. Try to keep looking at the positive side.

Hopefully the three months will also give OH time to think about what his options are so that he is well placed to start job hunting as soon as he knows that he is definitely being made redundant. Both times this has happened to me I've had another job to go to straight away, but you have to work it carefully to get the redundancy money AND a new job with no break!

Sorry been busy and struggling to keep up.
Re washing machine - yes GQ I've tried it!
Out today for the RV to test drive a Triumph Bonnie...sooo excited. The last time we had one, I was 18 and we had to sell it because I fell pregnant. I was not happy  So it's nice to come full circle at the age of 63. We've had Yamahas & Suzukis in between, but it feels like coming home to be back on a Triumph. :j:j
And, naturally, it's pelting with rain. :D

So your a biker chic Mar..?.....Ive had my bike licence for about 26 years, everytime I have to re new my licence I always make sure that theyve put my bike entitlement back on it, even though I no longer ride.........

I use to have a 400 honda pocket rocket , then a 750 suzuki.........My hubby had his bike right up to the time of his stroke, he as had all sorts and every bike you can think of, the last bike he had was a Hiyabusa...........I use to ride pillion too.......Oh those definately were the days.................

On to CS far too expensive now,why pay £5 for a jumper that as had more washes than I have had , and its all bobbled, when you can go to Primark and get brand new for £10........Although I must say I have had some decent priced stuff in the past.........But people are not throwing away good stuff anymore.....

They are far too overpriced when all of their clothes are donated to them , plus they do not have to pay business rates like all the other shops, or they get it discounted im pretty sure about...And the staff are volunteers except for the managers......We have 5 shops in our very small town..................sheila

Kidkat - what a farce! Give DH a big hug, I bet he's feeling pretty low.

Teabags - I actually ran out yesterday!!!! My food stores have been all over the show whilst my kitchen is plodding along, I thought there was another box somewhere but no! Had to do an emergency dash to keep Dads mug topped up whilst he boxed in pipes for me.

House is a mess beyond the realms of possibility, but the end is in sight and very slowly I'm able to put things back in place. Once the kitchen is finished I shall reclaim all the rooms that are currently hiding kitchen paraphanalia and have a ruddy good spring clean to get rid of the layers of dust. Until then I'm trying not to have a nervous breakdown as I'm normally a bit of a neat freak.

DDs sensed my mood this evening and hoovered through upstairs, cleaned the bathroom, hung some washing on the airer and popped another load going whilst I cooked tea. DD2 has groomed the longhaired cats and DD1 has been entertaining the parrot, little things but normally left to me so I appreciate their help.

Need to do a bit of painting, unload and load the dishwasher and order DD2s birthday pressies.....oh and work out how to install an outdoor power socket...then if I'm lucky I can sit and do something crafty with glues and decoupage papers (or collapse in a heap)

Shegar, I sat my bike test when I was 40, in a sniggering group of 17yr olds who thought they were brilliant. I was the only one passed :) I used to have a Yamaha 125. My son has a Hayabusa, the RV has (until friday) a GSX 1400. Son wouldn't have a car if it was free. I love bikes and bikers.
Although lately the weather isn't bike friendly.
I'm finding just about everything now is overpriced. Is this a sign of getting old? or just tight lol

:) I grew up with bikes, Mar, parents didn't have a car until I was about 11. There's pix of me as a wee girl in a pinafore dress cleaning huge motorbikes with me wee rag. Dad had BSAs and an AJS. It was dead funny when we were in a museum once and we saw one like he used to own.

For most of the time that I used to ride pillion it was the Hondas, though, little step thru ones. Bor-ring.

To this day if I hear the throaty rumble of a really big bike, or see one out on the open road it's Yayyyyyyyyyy!
