  • Hey FUDDLE - You are lucky to have a MR FUDDLE who likes to cook, what a treat on christmas day, better than a present if you ask me!!!! You are a good mum and a good daughter as it doesn't matter how cross your Ma sems to make you, you always consider her in what you would like to do. The thing that should be priority is making a better life for you and your family, if mum doesn't like it she will have to get used to the idea that your family and their needs must of necessity come before her needs, that is only right. It's not like you are moving to the other end of the country is it? Also never fear that you will fall from favour here, you'll never hit the ground as there are too many of us always holding you up and keeping you from harm, it's what friends are for little one. Stay strong, and I'm so excited for you looking at the house tomorrow. it's your big opportunity, don't let anything spoil it for you!!!

ELONA - Your christmas day sounds wonderful, walkies on the beach with family and hounds are to be savoured.

MISTY - Youze knot ver ony wun wot iz forgot , Mumi did shutted mee inna greenyhows an ven knot nowtisd fer er longist tyme!! Byatt:- I am weak too...I have an ex sister-in-law and her family I cannot forgive. Then again she was married to both my brothers!!!:rotfl:

Fuddle :- Byatt is right the more you react and bend, the more you will be stepped on. You will be no more thought of for picking her up or letting her stay over more. Toxic people feed off the good and taint the atmosphere around them. Your family come first, just keep that in your head!
While your wage is not yet depended upon, you can rethink returning to work. We all have such a small window when our children are young, it's lovely to be able to treasure the time we have with them.:)
Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”

    Ditto here too! :D

Ours will be a joint effort, I tend to panic a bit when making a meal that needs more than 2 saucepans. This is the first time I am doing Christmas dinner as I always lived with Mum and Dad and still went there after I left.

Stupid thing is, I can cook for 30 with no problem but I struggle with 5!
I promise that I will do my best.....

I changed my Tesco vouchers instore but I needed to check they had what I wanted first as I was going for Christmas lights and once you have changed the vouchers you're stuck with using them in that department. DDs always insist on the biggest tree possible and as our house is Victorian it can accommodate a very tall tree. We used to use two sets of 150 lights to cover it but they were showing their age with missing bulbs etc. So I spotted a set in Mr T's and used my "vultures" (as the DDs called them when they were small).

OMG :rotfl: I have a new 'word' LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. Vultures :rotfl:

I already speak my own language, partly because of the kids, sometimes I get some very strange looks. Sometimes I don't even realise I've substitued 'my' word for the real one. A current favorite is Marshwiggles, for marshmallows. Pretty sure I've asked if people want marshwiggles on their hot choc at work....:o

In our family there is no such thing as nipples. When my nephew was 4 he proudly told me that I have boobies as I am a girl and he doesn't have boobies he has nimples!
I promise that I will do my best.....

We got into the habit of doing the Bristolian thing of changing the ends of words to -ol - so ferry becomes ferrol.

We had a blazing row one night because I told him to stop asking the punters if they wanted tartare sauce with their 'scample' :rotfl:

oh a trick I have ued to great effect (as I end up traveling a lot round Europe in leg-removal class) get some antiseptic wipes, when you sit down wipe the arm rest, the tray both the bit facing you when up and the bit you use when down, all across the back of the seat in front. Most people when they sneeze etc are revolting and don't use their hands, and breathe in general (although there are days when I wish they didn't!) facing to the back of the seat in front and it is a HAVEN of bugs. This method has saved me from getting many bugs on the travels and I thoroughly recommend it. I was also told by an air steward the seats are not cleaned between passengers and rarely across the backs - which is icky.

Thank you - that is a really good tip.

Bl00dy hell - there is a book in there somewhere!!

Fuddle - most of us here have or had a mother but also many of us are mothers. Think what you would do if one of your daughters were in your situation. Would you behave like your mother? Luckily my mother was very much about "you have to do what's right for your family" it's kind of passing forward. It is what helped me when she passed away - she expected me to carry on for my own family's sake. Your mother, if you will excuse me, sounds like someone who is only about herself and that isn't the job of a mother.

    I love this thread..
I wanna be in the room where it happens
