I used to stress myself silly getting up at 5 or 6a.m. to wrestle with a huge turkey trying to fit it in the oven and eventually realised it was not worth the hassle. Got sick of being stuck in a cold kitchen while family were together.
Last Crimble we had a special meal to celebrate the Solstice and look forward to the eventual end of winter. The christmas meal was a four bird roast from a**i and I had done a lot of pre preparing of things like veg, stuffing balls etc.
Best of all - we did not stay in all day absentmindedly watching telly and nibbling food. We had a good brekkie and opened small stockings before preparing a huge flask for tea and coffee and making some filled rolls and sandwiches to put in car and then went to the seaside for a long bracing walk, saw people swimming in sea for charity and then had picnic in car before getting home.
Once home we had some hot homemade soup to warm us up and dds set the table while the meat etc cooked . We really appreciated the meal and felt we had earned it. Played some board games and then watched what we really fancied on tv.
Have been shopping earlier this week and a four bird roast and a stuffed turkey crown are now safely in freezer.
Hugs to all feeling poorly and those looking after others. DD seems a lot better and I am less worried but after seeing her rushed to hospital and also losing an elderly aunt a few weeks ago, I can't wait to see the end of 2012."This site is addictive!"

I hadn't spotted frozen foods on the list of offers from Mr T. so thanks for the heads-up on that. It might be better for us than me exchanging for 'finest' wines LOL!!! They are certainly looking to get the punters Xmas spend aren't they??? Toys, cosmetics, small electricals. I don't think I've ever seen such across the board offers!
I just checked one of the survey that I do rewards list, as I'd enough to trade for a voucher and they don't seem to be doing Amazon E-vouchers anymoreGutted TBH as that was one of my little treats. I just popped them an e-mail to check I wasn't just being thick, hopefully it's an oversight, as I don't think I can make much use of any of the others to such good effect. I wouldn't mind if any of them could be used for food, but the only two left I'd ever use would be Argos or B&Q... I can't think of much I'd need from either. B&Q have coal, but it's twice what the farm shop charges. I'd not have the same feel-good factor trading vouchers for a bag of wood chippings for the chickens pen
as I would with a shiny new book arriving!!!
I really *should* be doing something constructive not sitting here...hey ho!!! Off I go....

Fuddle, the quote of mine relates to my family (mainly mother) and my ex (and his family). When I saw the quote it resonated with me and I need to read it often to remind me it's not me, it's them. Not always easy when you end up hearing just their voices in your head and they are all negative. edit, the hard part is not playing the game, because you have to take responsibility for your part in it. I kept doing the same thing and getting the same result and we know what is said about that! One thing to remember, the less you play the game the more they will ramp it up, using any method to get you to react, that can go on for some time. My ex is still doing it 7 years later. I do not respond even though I have been very tempted to. When you stop playing the game however, after time it gets easier and you stop feeling guilty and instead feel liberated.
Possession, thanks, I will pop in the store as I'm passing one later.

I keep saying this to people, that drama queens cannot perform unless they have an audience. Remove the audience (yourself) and let them dramaqueen till their heart's content ALONE !0

Softstuff - is it Amytriptylin he gave you for shingles? My son gets that in a low dose for foot nerve pain after his ops, and the doc gave me it for neuralgia but it doesn't work for me.
To be honest the numbness was the worst thing, I imagine it's how I'd feel if I'd had a stroke down one side, it was really quite distressing. The pain somehow I can live with.
I'm not even sure if it'd be licensed for the same things in England (it was originally licensed as an anti-anxiety drug, then as something for epilepsy, then it's used for stabilising nerves in patients with shingles or MS according to my doc). It would have cost me about 80 quid if I'd have had to buy it for 2 weeks worth.
Sorry if that's tmi, I'm dopey and off to bed now. Feeling pretty rough. Love all round.

Awwww. You have to remember that humans are not as intelligent as dogs. It is very good of you to forgive your Mum!
Hugs all round. Especially to Mr Veg Plot and Mr Mama at having to sign on, and those of you unhappy at work. It's an employer's market at the moment and the government wants to chip workers' rights away too.
Having read through the last few pages, it would be easier to mention those who aren't having a tough time, I think! So much illness, both physical and mental. I wish I had a magic wand I could wave and make you all better, and your OH's too.

I'm one of life's little biter's  'hey that's not fair, I'm going to fight my corner' but what I do is I do it in my head (unless I'm on the internet
) and let it stew inside. When I do fight back or snipe or stand up for myself I do notice that the insults get worse.
In trying to work out how to play it so I'm not playing  I know what I mean, I think I gotta be acting and agree with whatever they say, that way they can't think I'm stewing over their words.
So my tack on the house issue, on the 'me, me, me' issue will have to go along the lines of, I know, I'm sorry, we'll pick you up, you can stay more often (dear lord  ) It's unfortunate etc even though I'm really quite happy with the way things will hopefully turn out and not too fussed if I don't see her.
Thanks you lot - better than a psychologist0
