Alfsmum if I dry stuff to brittle for longterm stores its normally ok to store in jars,I use bags if I'm going to use it quickly or lock'n'locks for medium term storage.
I tried some of my frozen berries but they turned to mush but fresh are brilliant so I plan to do this with a lot of mine this year as I love specialk redberries but won't pay their prices lol
The frozen ones however are fine for making into leathers which are too nice and I can't make them fast enough!
I dry my own blueberries too now and use them in muffins I just chuck a handful in dried no need to bother rehydrating first as they do as they bake.
For the veg I stand in boiling water first for about 10 mins then bring to the boil and procede as for fresh HTH D X

    Thank you :)

We have several blueberry bushes on the allotment so I 'd definitely like to try drying some this year.

Thanks FUDDLE so glad you're getting some lovely outside time with the girls and Alfie puppy, I can hear the smiles in your posts, so good, you're happy again and enjoying life, as it should be, alls right with the world, Love Lyn xxx.

At the end of March some folks in China got sick with what is a new strain of Bird Flu it's H7N9 and it's had some 129 cases confirmed and some people have died. It's not human to human transmission but linked to chickens (live ones) we're just keeping a weather eye on the situation to see how it goes. so far only one person outside of china has been confirmed as having it, and that is a man in Taiwan who had visited China the week before, so don't worry about it because it's nowhere else but the far east, Lyn xxx.

Fuddle it was on the front of a paper the other day we are about to have a very dry May so maybe you need to be using the bath water on the garden and save your meter running away with itself cos there will be a hosepipe ban as quick as you can say Knickers.

Mrs LW there was a piece on the 10 O clock news tonight about the bird flu. Its quite serious but its restricted to one area of China. I wont repeat the details in case I get them wrong, but I think you have covered it all.

Well done Kidcat, you must have been a wreck, I know I would have been but you sorted it yourself in the end. Undoubtedly it would have been quicker to ring for help but Im sure you would have had a load of earache with it.

I hasn't been paid from the nursery. I haven't received any money in the 6 weeks I worked there. Really angry and actually quiet worried as its cost us out if DH's wages and our savings to pay for all the overheads to get me to work. I need to get those costs recouped and currently have £8.20 to last till 15th may.

I feel utterly sick with nerves. My sister is going to deal with them. One thing for her is that she can be very hard (benefits assessor) when she needs to be.

Morning. Fuddles, just read your message, how rude of the nursery to not pay you. To not get paid for 6 weeks is terrible. They should have been able to pay you when you first started at least a weeks wages if its monthly pay. I hope they pay you today, don't accept a cheque as it takes ages to clear.

Lovely day here, need to get dressed and take my mum shopping in @ldi as we need to use the voucher today. We will be sharing the voucher tho.

Well must get motivated, have a good day everyone.

They didn't pay me the first two weeks I worked in march because I missed the pay run apparently.

Can't stop thinking about it but its what I deserve walking out on a job. I will get that money though won't I? By law I mean. They can't say she walked out so doesn't get it or a thing like that?

Fuddle they cant keep any wages from you. If you can cope, you should ring the owner and ask where your money is. At the very least they can advance you some cash, then pay the remainder in. I would give them a call, explain its urgently needed and can I pop by and collect the money say at 1pm.

    Good luck x

  • Deep breath FUDDLE, they'll pay you alright, didn't the owner say she would see you were paid up to and including last Thursday when you spoke to her? I would think she is the one to deal with not the manager but, you will get your pay. Lyn xxx.

The irony of collecting an advance in person is that I don't have the funds to put petrol in the car to make the journey. There's enough for probably 4 school trips before it gets to the fumes.

She did Lyn, yes she did. She said she would pay me what u was owed and send out the p45. There's alsorts going through my mind and been very snappy with the girls but that what stress does to me. It's times like these, normal every day hiccups that effect my ability to function that makes me wonder whether I do still need medical help. The problem will be rectified I just can't see to that point and get solace from that fact. I'm sat in limbo land worry about what if and having no money.

I wish I could control it. I should know after 9am.
