Nosey Mom!
Comments
-
i was real close to my mum, she would call everyday
and would even open my post.
she admitted she was nosey lol
she got a cough and passed away 3 weeks later aged 57.
i would give anything for her to still be opening my post.
ps i knew everything about her too.
x
aah, I am so sorry, sometimes it takes a post like this to put everything in perspective. I lost may mam 30 years ago and |I still shed a tear on occasion.
Personally I wouldnt open anyone elses post, ever, but I know what you are saying.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
maybe anon here but still the same principle
No it's not. It's well known that people often find it easier to talk to strangers than close friends or family.
Also the advice tends to be impartial, baring trolls, and less emotional. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
yer i know i dont open my kids mail even if i would love to know what's in it lol.
30 years [ hugs]
she would tell me "oh you have an appointment on such a day",
i would reply thanx for that
and she would laugh and say "your welcome". x0 -
My mam is exactly the same, i ask her if she wants me to fill in a questionnaire, there are so many questions!! I just say, 'its non of your business, i don't ask about your finances' and leave it at that, she normally just laughs and says 'ok'!0

You think your financial affairs are private from your mother yet you can discuss them on an open forum.
It is slightly different as you don't know me! We wouldn't know each other if we passed on the street. Plus there are a select few members on here who do give very good and constructive advice regarding sorting out your finances.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £19,575.020 -
Did your mum not claim child benefit (your spelling of Mom indicates that you may have been raised overseas, mind)? Because assuming she was UK resident, she probably knows about its universal-ness (well, up to next year, anyway), and can easily find out the current rates!

As for DLA (and CB too, actually), perhaps she's concerned about the proposed 'benefit cap', and is worried how it might affect you? Though she'd be a little 'off' in her reasoning (DLA and other proposed disability benefits, PIP, etc. being a different animal than other benefits that may be 'capped'), there's a lot of information being batted around at the moment, and a lot of people in fear (or fear by proxy) of impending financial hardship x0 -

Can see the logic with it, if that much of a problem tell your mom to mind her own business.0 -

Why I have always spelt mom, mom and I was born and bred in this country as were my parents. I think it's to do with local dialect rather than from being raised overseas.0 -

The bit in bold made me smile!
Yes she did claim CB for me, in those days she had a book and took it to the Post Office.

You are spot-on Scooby, this has been discussed in another thread, but my Mom is Birmingham born and bred, as am I (West Bromwich) to be exact and I think the spelling is a Midlands thing!
Crumbs, can't seem to get the hang of multi quoting, but you get the gist!Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £19,575.020
