Anyone having trouble moving from Orange to EE?

Comments

  • Went into EE shop and they said I would definitely be able to move to them but I had to ring orange on 150.

You can probably tell i was absolutely exasperated at this point.

One large piece of chocolate gateaux and decaff cappucino later i'm now home. Just spoken to a lovely guy on Orange customer service who's told me yes I'm elligible and has put me through to EE.

    what the hell????

  • All in progress, EE transferring me over, just got to wait for new sim card. What a nightmare. i'd love to give this morning's orange team a piece of my mind, they caused me no end of frustration and gave me false information. This evening's team has been brilliant!

  • I have a massive problem with Orange (yet again)!!

When I bought the Iphone 5 last month I was told that I would get 4g on my new tariff. Turns out that I have to pay an extra £5 a month to get the same tariff. Surely this is a against the sales of goods act 1979?

I'm a little cheesed off as I thought that EE prices might be on a par with Orange 3g prices. Sadly not. However I can't remember at the time that they said the prices will be similar. Only that you would have to take out a new EE plan when they came out and take on a new minimum term. A few weeks ago I started to realise that I'd probably have to pay more money but have accepted the fact.

I'd try and find some news articles from the time of the iPhone 5 launch to see if they talk about what EE were announcing at the time, might give you some ammunition if you can actually find a screenshot from the EE site or similar.....

Well I am not happy to pay another £5 a month or extra £120 over two years for the same product which I was promised! Orange have always treated their customers with contempt!

At no time has EE said that they will give you a 4g tariff without a further charge. Their actual wording was that you would have to take a new contract with EE at at least the same price point or higher. They did not state that you would get the same bundle, more, or less.

Its a bit naive to think that you will get 4G for free after taking out an orange or t-mobile contract and i don't understand why people are assuming that. (mature_student, if someone told you this at the orange shop then thats a different matter and you've been misled - what they should have said is the iphone5 is 4g enabled/capable so you can use 4g if you upgrade to an EE priceplan)

Although the ee website was vague before launch it didn't mislead people into thinking that they would get the same service as they have bought on orange/t-mobile for the same cost. To be honest, their prices arent too bad for early adopter prices. To pay £5 extra for 4G isn't too steep. Saying that i'm not interested in spending that sort of money for 4G speeds, as 3G is perfectly adequate at the moment.

Don't expect there to be too much competition when the other networks get 4g too. Just look back to the time when all the networks got access to the iphone, the tariffs were nearly identical for some time!! Networks are having to invest big for 4g, expect to be at the brunt of some of those charges.
  • Read this with a fine tooth comb. I can't see anything in it that suggests pricing will be the same, only, like niktheguru said, that you'd have to move to a same or higher priced tarriff on EE. I honestly don't remember at the time anything that said prices would be the same. I don't have time today to read this thoroughly:

  • "If their new EE plan is the same term and price per month or more than their existing plan, the move will be at no additional cost."

ALSO 2G handset upgrades are excluded apparently

We can swap your old 3G phone for a shiny new 4G one, and upgrade your plan to a superfast 4GEE phone plan. All for just £99.

Swap your phone for a 4G version. Just £99

You can swap to 4GEE for just £99 any time in the first 6 months of your contract with Orange or T-Mobile. All you’ve got to do is head to any EE store and ask to swap to 4GEE.
Our in-store experts will walk you through the process. So you can walk out with a brand new 4G-ready phone, and a superfast 4GEE phone plan.
All ready and raring to go.

    I want to get 4GEE

Great. Pop into any EE store and one of our friendly staff will be able to help.

    You need to know

    • Phones you can swap from are Apple iPhone 4S, the Samsung Galaxy SIII and the HTC 1X
    • You can swap to either an Apple iPhone 5, a Samsung SIII with 4G, an HTC One XL or a Nokia 920
    • The new EE plan that you swap to must be of the same length and cost as your current plan on Orange or T-mobile, or higher
    • It will take up to one business day to port your old number to your new EE phone
    • Remember to back up your data and contacts before giving us your old phone
    • This offer ends on 31 December 2012
    • You’ll need to return your old handset in perfect, working condition. You should check you have 4G coverage where you need it before swapping to EE. Other terms apply.

    Contract over six months old?

If your contract is over six months old we can't swap you over for £99. But you can still get an 'early upgrade', which gives you 33% off your remaining contract.
Pop into an EE store with your existing contract and we'll be happy to help."

    Hello,

This AD/offer is very mis leading, it states to swap to EE for just £99. Except its not just £99 because as we'll as paying £99 you give your handset back AND pay the cost of the handset on the new EE plan.

    So it's not just £99 :(

The terms and conditions also don't mention any extra charges.
