Also, if you go on to santanderselect.co.uk you will find that they offer specific products only available to Select customers to reward you for your loyalty.
At the end of the day they are offering a free service where you don't have to go through an automated system, you get through to a person, hardly queue and offer special rates.
You seem to know a lot about it, so could you tell us more about the specific products only available to Select customers, and the special rates? The only 'specials' I have been able to find are- contacless debit card, and daily cash withdrawal limit increased to £750 on the card
- a limited period offer to match any better cash ISA rate on the 2 year FRISA
Everything else I looked at is 100% available to all 123 customers. I was looking at the home insurance but couldn't possibly be bothered since I couldn't even get an online quote, which is something I can get everywhere else. I was also looking at car insurance, for which I can get an online quote when logged into online banking but it isn't even listed on the Select site.
Would love to find more positives, so please point them out if I have overlooked them. Particularly, what are the special rates you mention?0 -

I do indeed know quite a bit about it through reading and talking to their Select managers.
Select customers are being given 3% cashback on 123 credit card used in bars and restaurants until 31st May.
A lifetime tracker mortgage at 1.89% above BOE base rate.
Guaranteed loan rate of 4.5%
A 2% bond or 2.05% on balances over 200k.
I just picked these off the website. It's all there.0 -
You will find that the Select 033 number is in fact a free phone number.
03 numbers are not free phone numbers but are treated like 01/02 numbers so would be included in inclusive landline plans.I do indeed know quite a bit about it through reading and talking to their Select managers.

I believe all of these - apart from the mortgage rate perhaps - are all available to 'normal' Santander customers as well.
I agree its nice that they are offering a free service where you don't have to go through an automated system etc. but at moment there is very little that is 'exclusive' to Select customers.

I like the contactless card but my world would continue without it. None of the other bits on offer rock my boat, either. If anything, SELECT has made the overall service worse now since "My offers - tailored to you" simply provides a link to the Select site. Nothing whatsoever tailored to me.
And no, I do not wish them to "work closely with me to understand my financial needs and work to deliver greater value from our relationship". Because once you have cut through all that Marketing speak all it boils down to is them wanting to make more money out of me.0 -
So my husband was sent the letter and Santander Select card a few weeks back: we have a joint 123 account on which I am the first-named account-holder. Should the letter and card therefore not have come to me rather than him? I'm still waiting for them to write to me as a "valued customer" even though my husband can't even operate an ATM and sends me out to get the cash, so a £750 limit on his debit card would be useless, literally!
Oh but wait a bit: we have some joint investments in Santander Asset Management: on this he is the first-named account holder, and despite our joint protestations that he leaves all the family finances to me, they cannot possibly write to me. "Our systems can't possibly write to joint account-holders" - why the heck not if we are both contributing??? They are probably in contravention of any equal opportunities legislation but I haven't time to take them to the European Court - one day....!
Think I might phone them: but then they might not speak to me, being only the little woman, "her indoors".:mad:0 -
All you have to do is submit a formal, written complaint. Their complaints process is on their website. Keep to facts and leave the emotions out. Talk of European Courts is just silly.0

Can't believe how much people are complaining about a FREE service that Santander is offering.
I was invited last year to join the Select service and I'm very impressed with the benefits.
The Select Managers take ownership of all my queries with a very quick turnaround time. I've never been passed from pillar to post or sent to branch.
I don't have a 123 current account or credit card so I am normally excluded from their loyalty products but now I'm eligible for all of them as a Select customer.
Also, my circumstances changed a few months ago and I no longer meet the qualifying criteria to be a Select customer. I raised my concerns with a Select Manager and she assured me that my Select status would not be taken away.
Very impressed. Very confused as to why anybody would complain about a free service. It's not like Santander is shouting from the rooftops about the select service being innovative or game-changing so I honestly don't understand why people are being so negative about it0 -
