  • You really are busy! I like the sound of the book you've just read, may have a look for that for my kindle. I just read a marianne williamson one but I couldn't get into it no matter how hard I tried, I got half way through and gave up :( the reviews were so good I think I will have a try again at some point!

You sound like a lovely grandma, I wish my mother were nearer to me as she used to love having the kids over and giving me a break :) Have a lovely evening and I hope you catch up on some sleep xx

  • Debtfreewannabe321 – Hi and thanks for posting. I am really getting into “positive thinking” and happiness!! I just want to feel as good as I can for as much of the time as I can. The ideas I have read about are having a good effect on me !!
Yesterday was a work day for me. It went quite well. I have been adopting my new attitude in work and things have been better. I am just trying to see the positive rather than the negative! I left work early afternoon and went to the post office to post my ebay parcels. I then went to the local library. I am doing some family history research for a lady who is a friend of one of my friends. I spent an hour doing research for her and it was very interesting. I then went to the gym and did an hour on the treadmill. Once home I did a few chores before my work friend arrived. It was his birthday yesterday and as he is a bit of a loner I asked him if he wanted to come round for a couple of hours rather than spend his birthday on his own. Anyway we had a nice couple of hours before he went home.
Anyway I hope everyone had a great moneysaving day. :)
  • I had a good day yesterday even though i went to work. This new attitude is definitely making an improvement. At this stage in my life i have no choice but go to work as i cannot afford to stay at home full time, though i would love to. I know i am very lucky to be able to work part time so i need to make the best of it. Anyway yesterday was fine......and that's it till next Monday. After work i called at the gym and did 60 minutes on the treadmill. I met a lady i know so the hour passed very quickly as we had a good natter. Next i decided to call at my local discount bakery. Shall we say i bought bargain of the year. I got a huge bag, shall we say the size of a bin bag, full of flapjacks for £2. It must weigh at least 20kg. When i got home i started dispensing some of it into some tupperware. I will keep some for myself as I love a sweet treat in the evening, and i love flapjacks. The rest i am going to bag up and give to my children and my friends. Smaller bags at about 2kg were on sale for the same price so it was a no brainer. The bag was so heavy that i struggled carrying it to the car !! I wont need to buy any treats till after xmas now. That should save me and my family some cash.
Anyway I came to a decision yesterday and it was to join Ancestry. At the moment i am using it free of charge at the local history society. However that inst without its problems - I can only go at certain times due to their opening hours - and i want to be able to look at my family tree in the evening and the history centre is closed then. Additionally i have to pay for print outs and that can cost me every time i visit. I worked out that i would probably be in pocket if i signed up to a direct debit of £12 per month. The good thing is that i can cancel whenever i want. I am not tied into a contract. So yesterday afternoon i signed up and spent a few hours just having a good look round the web site. I am positive i will make good use of it.
Anyway i had a great bargain and had a bit of a spend !! I hope everyone had a great moneysaving day.:)
  • It been a good day for me today. I was up nice and early even though it was dark. I spent my time doing a few chores including the ironing. By the time it was light i had done my jobs and took Sid to the park. Once i got back my day started properly. i went to visit my aunt in the nursing home for a short while. Next I went into town. I called to see my greengocer and i gave him a tin of biscuits i had bought as a thank you for all the free veg he gives me for the piggies. Next stop was the gym. I di 60 minutes on the treadmill followed by my zumba clas which was great. On my way home i called at the Asian supermarket and bought 4 cucumbers for £1 (piggies), a bag of potatoes and a huge tray of eggs.
After a quick lunch I spent a couple of hours in the kitchen making a large cottage pie for tomorrows tea. One of my sons "helped" me as he visited me for a couple of hours which was very nice. We just spent the time chatting whilst we made the food. Its actually for tomorrow night when several of my children will be visiting for tea.
Anyway I have just had my tea and a shower. I will be spending the rest of the evening on the computer looking at Ancestry and also I will be having a read.
I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x
  • I had a nice day yesterday. I was up quite early and went to the gym. I did my usual 60 minutes on the treadmill before shooting round the shops. My greengrocer had saved me a load of tomato for the guinea pigs. They love them !! Next was my dance class which i really enjoyed. I also called at the library and picked up a couple of positive thinking books to flick through. I feel as though they are doing me a little bit of good. Once home i took Sid to the park for a quick run around. I spend a few hours in the afternoon starting my cutting back in the garden. I have loads of perennial that need chopping down at this time of year. So 2 wheelie bins were filled yesterday and that's just a start.
I was a bit nervous at tea time as one of my sons was bringing his new girlfriend round for me to meet. They stayed for tea which was good considering it was the first time we had met. My sons girlfriend already has a little girl aged 2......so she came to tea as well. She was just adorable and we clicked straight away !!! Anyway once they had gone to take the little one home for her bed I had loads of tidying up to do as the little girl had played with loads of toys which were in my grandsons bedroom!! Plus the washing up !
Anyway I hope everyone had a great moneysaving day.:)
  • I had a bit of a lie in this morning followed by a leisurely shower. I spent the morning on the internet and doing family tree work. At lunch time i went out with my aunt (not the one in the nursing home). We went out to a local pub and had our lunch out. Next stop was my zumba class which was good fun. On my way back home i called for my grandson who is here with me for the night. I just love having him stay. He is just such a little comedian.
Anyway once he is asleep I will be having a nice read of my book. I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)
  • It has been the most horrendous day weather wise in the North West today. My little grandson stayed overnight and it was lovely to wake up with him in my home this morning. We went to the cinemas to see "The smurfs" which he really enjoyed. Instead of coming home for lunch we went straight to the town centre to see father Christmas and his reindeer's. Now in principle that is a great idea for a little boy and his Nanny......but not in the middle of a thunder storm. We were wet through and freezing. Anyway we met one of my older sons and his girlfriend and little girl.......and we all got wet through together. Everyone came back to my house and my sons girlfriend (who is Polish and a fantastic cook) made us some beetroot soup with pasta. It sound awful but it was lovely and just perfect after the soaking we had just had.
I have just taken my little grandson home and i am getting my feet up after tidying the house. My grandson and daughter literally turned the house upside down !!!
The rest of the night will hopefully be spent doing a bit of family tree work and having a read. I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day !:)
  • I was up early yesterday to go to the gym. The town centre car boot sale is finished till next spring so I had time to put fuel in the car before the gym opened. I did my usual 60 minutes on the treadmill. Once I got home I took Sid to the park for her usual run around. Most of yesterday was spent at home. I did a spot of cutting back in the garden then did some ironing. I dropped into Asda as I wanted to get some flowers for my friend. I also bought some milk and 2 big packs of diced turkey which were reduced. They are now in the freezer. At 4pm my friend called for me and we went to visit our mutual friend who has just come out of hospital after having a heart attack. She liked the flowers so that was good. Once I got home I had a couple of phone calls then settled down with a book. At the moment I just feel like battening down the hatches once it goes dark at tea time. I just feel like staying in and keeping warm.
Anyway I hope everyone had a great moneysaving day :)
  • Yesterday was a work day for me. I am doing OK at the moment. I am managing to keep myself busy and time is passing quickly. On my way home from work I called at the hairdressers and paid £9 for a dry cut. Bargain. I am hoping that I wont have to go again until the New Year. That should keep my Christmas spends to a minimum. One I was home and Sidney had been collected from my neighbour, I settled in for the rest of the day. I had a few phone calls and did quite a lot of family tree research on the internet which was good. I just love getting involved in little family history mysteries.
Anyway I hope everyone had a great moneysaving day.
  • Yesterday went quite smoothly. It was another work day for me and i just kept myself busy. Although i have been feeling a bit down in the dumps recently, I have managed to do my best to be positive about work. My feeling down in the dumps stems from one thing - a man I had a few dates with. I wasn't going to share this in my blog but have now decided to as its had such a bad effect on me. Basically after my marriage broke down I decided to just get on with my life. After about 12 months of being single a man I had met at the swimming baths (!!!) showed some interest in me and as he appeared suitable I decided to spend some time in his company. In total I spent about a month of my time with him, before i realised he was not for me. Anyway I told him it was over and for at least 12 months he has made a complete nuisance of himself - mainly by text or phone. He goes quiet for a month or so and then he starts pestering again. I am now at a point where i have had enough but it has affected my morale from time to time. I actually feel annoyed that someone who had such a small part if my life has continued to affect it. He has actually done me a huge favour really - He has shown me that I can be truly happy on my own and the last thing I need in my life is a man. Anyway this is the end of my rant. I am making a new start today !! I know i cant carry on getting upset every month or so when he rears his head. I have decided to speak to the police if it continues. I know i have a really good life......apart from this. Ever wishes you had never done something !!!!! :rotfl:
Today i woke up nice and early and felt quite positive. I have just taken Sid to the park for a run around and I have a few things lined up to keep me busy. I hope everyone has a great moneysaving day
