  • Well I am glad today is over with as I am off work for 10 days now and I am looking forward to doing the things I enjoy doing ! Work went OK and when I got home I had a couple of hours with Sidney before going to the cinema. She didn't need walking as my neighbour said they had been out for a few hours. That dog is truly spoilt !! Anyway I have just been to see James McAvoy in Filth which was so so naughty.....and enjoyable.
Not sure what I am doing the rest of the evening but I am sure it will involve some googling. Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x
  • My first day off has gone really well despite the rain not stopping at all today in the North West. I was up a little later than normal and took Sid to the park. I then walked up to town and did a bit of pottering about. I had to take more divorce papers to the courts. Thankfully i am not finding this too upsetting although the £410 divorce fee is more than i spent on getting married.....hilarious. Hopefully i will be divorced in a few months and i can move on into the next chapter of my life, I went to the gym and did 60 minutes on the treadmill followed by my zumba class. All my cobwebs were blown away. I also had about an hour at the local interest centre doing a bit more family tree work. I got drenched on my walk home from the town but hey ho......I jumped into a nice hot shower and the rest of today has been a pyjama day !! I have actually got on with a few chores. I used my car boot bargain steamer to clean my floors and i was very impressed with it. I will be using the steamer now every time the floors need doing. The mop and bucket days are over with !!! I have also started a few little jobs around the house. I put 3 wooden handmade hooks on a door which is in a bedroom I have earmarked for my grandaughter. I also put the first coat of paint on a plaster flower garland I have had in the project cupboard for ages. I am hoping to get a few things done whilst I am off work and have made a good start today.
Anyway I am off to have a bit of a Google so......I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)
  • I have had a nice day today. Up early and off up to town to get my 60 minutes of treadmill done. Had an hour before my dance class so went round the shops. I started my Christmas shopping and bought some cards. My plan is to get everything bought as soon as possible as i hate the shops in December. I have already made a list of what i intend to buy....so now i just need to buy it !! I called at my greengrocer today and he gave me some vegetables and leaves for the guinea pigs. I then went back to the gym for my dance class. Afterwards I spent an hour at the local interest centre doing a bit more work on my family tree. I went to town in the car today as i wanted to do some food shopping on my way home. I spent about £13 on frozen fish and veg so was really happy with that.
This afternoon has been spent with one of my sons and Sidney. We took her to the park and just had a few hours together which was nice. Not sure what tonight holds but I intend having a lie in tomorrow as I have a Friday night out planned with some of my girlfriend and I will be like dishwater at 8pm if i get up at the usual crack of dawn.
Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)

  • Hi Sidneysmum I have also started Xmas shopping. I do stockings for my 18 & 20 year olds wh still love them and insist that they have one. I can' t ever see me stopping. Since my Dad died and my mum who's 86 comes for Xmas I have started doing one for her. I spent about £20 on each but I don't buy rubbish. It's things like make up wipes, hand lotion, chocolate, puzzle books etc.

Cloak room floor tiles now finished and my husband has started on the wall tiles. Hope that's all finished for Xmas. X

Hi Sidneysmum, just popping in to say hello. I'm still following your daily posts. Off up to your neck of the woods on Sunday for a few days visiting my daughter in Cheadle. I feel very inspired when I read how well you're doing going it alone. A new chapter will begin now you've sorted your divorce. Believe me it's a bittersweet moment when that decree absolute drops on your mat. Have a good moneysaving and productive weekend!
  • LeaLea89 - Hi and thanks for posting. You sound super organised for Christmas. Gold star. I actually bought a present today - a bottle of Morgan Spiced Rum !! So that's me off the starting blocks. I hope you are back to feeling A1 again soon. How were M people ? Hope you had a great time x

Mrs Money Penny - Hi. I used to do Christmas stockings every year for the boys until they all left home. An elderly neighbour actually knitted then for me and she put each of the boys names on the top so they knew one from the other !! I might do one for my grandson this year......you have given me an idea !! Glad the cloak room is coming along x

sassycat - Hi and thanks for posting. I hope you are right about getting this divorce over and done with. I just cant wait till its all done and dusted. The one good thing I have found is that I am not craving getting a new man in my life. I have a friend who just cannot function without a man. I think I have been scared off and at the momnet i feel as though i could quite happily spend the rest of my days on my own........well I mean with Sidney of course !! Anyway I hope you have a great time with your daughter x

I have had a nice couple of days. I actually had a big lie in yesterday and didn't get up till 9am. Its over 30 years since i stayed in bed !! Anyway i took Sid to the park for a quick run before i went to the cinema to see "Captain Phillips"". All I can say is that is was brilliant and i enjoyed it from start to finish. After a quick dash home i went to my tea time zumba class. Afterwards I came home instead of picking my grandson up. I got myself all spruced up and went for an evening out with 8 other women. We only went for a drink in a town centre pub but it was a really nice change, although I did miss my little boy.
This morning I was up proper early and flew round to my sons to pick up my grandson. We have spent a nice day together and i haven't long since taken him home. We went to the cinema to see the cartoon "Epic" which he enjoyed. The rest of our time has just been spent playing and seeing to the guinea pigs.
I intend to just do a bit of pottering about tonight as I have got a full day planned tomorrow. Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)
  • I struggled to get up this morning.....probably because it was so dark and had rained most of the night. However I did manage it and went to the town centre car boot sale. The weather must have put people off as it was really poor. I spent £1 on a toy microwave and 2 pairs or swimming arm bands.........then found a pound coin so it ended up as a no spend trip out. I then went to the gym and did 60 minutes on the treadmill. When I got home i took Sid to the park for a quick run round.
I had a couple of hours before going out and I tackled another little project. I painted a plaster garland in old gold paint. Its now dry and looks great on an old fashioned sideboard I have on my upstairs landing. Something else ticked off the list. I did my usual Sunday British Gas readings and made my weekly payment.
This afternoon was spent out with my cousin doing a spot of shopping at a local massive M&S store. I bought 3 small bottles of perfume. I will use the first one myself and might use the other 2 if I dont get any perfume for Christmas, which I usually do. I also bought 3 tins of celebrations as Christmas gifts. I have cut down my present list to a minimum this year and I intend to stick to it. I have already mentioned to some people that I wont be buying for them any more as I am cutting back. I hope they understand I have limited funds and if they dont............tough!!! Anyway my sons have all said they would like some money so that will be easily sorted. I am hoping to get a few more things tomorrow as I am off work. I would really like to get the bulk of my shopping done so I can just sit back and relax !
Anyway I had a really nice trip out and my cousin came back with me for a coffee. I have luckily managed to sell another couple of small items on eBay again this weekend. I am really happy with how this is going as I am just doing things a bit at a time. I have put all the items i want to sell on a bed in the front bedroom and I just keep listing a couple of items here or there.
Anyway I am looking forward to having an extra couple of days off work this week. It will save me on petrol money as well. Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)
  • Gosh I have never known so much rain in 1 day. I will be trading Gladys in for a dinghy soon ! I have made good use of my day off and kept occupied. I was up nice and early and went up to the gym in the car. I was glad to have taken the car due to the rain but i was also getting stuck into my Christmas shopping and didnt want to get anything wet. Anyway I did 60 minutes on the treadmill then took my ebay parcels to the post office. Next I bought some more Christmas cards and called at my greengrocers for some free veg for my piggies. He is very generous to me and I am going to take a tin of biscuits up for him soon as a thank you. I then went to Thornton's and bought 5 biggish boxes of chocolates which are on offer at £20. Bargain. I am going to use one next week as a birthday present and the rest are for Christmas. I have left all my purchases on the morning room table and i am going to wrap them up hopefully tomorrow. I just want everything out of the way !! Once I was home I had planned to take Sid to the park but decided against it as the weather was still shocking. I managed to do a couple of hours worth of chores - washing, ironing etc, before going off out again. I had a bit of a look round for children's clothing to buy the little people for Christmas but came away empty handed. I then went to the cinema to see "Escape Plan". It was OK, a typical Stallone and Arnie film. I managed to nip to the park with Sid without getting soaked after the film was over !
Anyway I a doing very little tonight, other than doing a bit of googling. I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x
  • I dont know where today has gone to.....its flown. Up nice and early and went to the gym. Did my usual 60 minutes on the treadmill. Had a bit of a break and visited Asda which is across the road and bought potato's, porridge and bread (£3.02). Back to the gym and took part in another dance class which was good fun. I came home for some food and decided not to take Sid out until the rain had stopped. Instead I went to the local history centre in the town and did another couple of hours on my family tree. I am thoroughly enjoying all this research. its keeping my brain occupied !! When I got back home I decided to take Sid out as the rain had stopped. The rest of the afternoon has been spent cooking a huge pan of chilli chicken and rice which has now been portioned up. Also I wrapped all the Christmas presents I have bought so far !!! Talk about Mrs organised. At tea time I met my cousin and we went to visit aunty in the care home for an hour. I have done all my chores for today and the plan is to spend the rest of the evening looking at my family tree !
I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x :)
