I had a nice day yesterday. I took Sid to the park as soon as it was getting light, then walked up to town. I managed to get 50 minutes on the treadmill before i had a quick trip round the shops. Got some tinned custard (which I love!!) and went to see my nice greengrocer for some veg for the piggies. Next was dance aerobics which I really like. After the class was over I walked home which was a bit hard going as I had got quite a lot of veg to carry!!! Had a couple of hours of sprucing myself up and a bit of a chill out before going out to meet 2 girlfriends at the local carvery for some tea and a good catch up. I dont mind paying £8.50 for a great big carvery meal plus an unlimited refill drink. Great value for money. I wont have tons of money over the next month as I have paid for the divorce costs £410, plus my car tax £175. Once my mortgage and bills come out of the bank I will have to go easy as I plan to try and put about £250 away in savings as I haven't saved anything for the last couple of months with doing jobs in the house. I am hoping to do a bit more saving over the coming months so that i will have a good stash of money for my stairs and landing carpet in the New Year.
Anyway I hope everyone had a great moneysaving day x0 -
Yesterday didn't go as I had mapped out. My plan had been to go to the cinema at some point but didn't end up going !! I was up early as usual and took Sid to the park. Instead of going to the gym i decided to do a spot of housework. Its amazing what you can do in an hour or so if you are in the mood. Anyway i then went to a large nearby M&S to look for a few winter items and came away with exactly nothing !! When I got home i had an unexpected visit from one of my sons and we had a good chat. I then went to our local history and studies centre to do some of my family tree. I haven't picked it up for over 12 months and I have decided to resurrect it. I have got a very basic outline of my family tree going back many generations and basically i have decided to put some meat on the bones and find out more details about individual family members. I have started with my grandmother who was born in 1904 and who died in 1990. I managed to get quite a lot of information from the history centre and bought some local ordnance survey maps of years gone by. Also some microfilms of marriage certificates. I also sent for a copy of my grandmothers birth certificate. All in all I spent £17 but this will keep me going for a good few weeks.
I also had a very strange thing happen to me at the history centre. I actually bumped into a lady by chance who I had been trying to locate for a number of years. She had moved to another part of the country and I had lost track of her. She has now returned to her home town. How spooky that I should just happen to start my family tree work again on the day she was at the local history centre. Bizarre. Anyway we had a good catch up and I plan to keep in touch with her.
Later in the afternoon I went to my tea time zumba class then went and picked my baby grandaughter up. My grandson is away on a little holiday with his other grandparents so I am looking after the baby so my son and his partner can sleep !!!
When i got up this morning I found I had sold another item on eBay so I am off to post it this morning once I get the hang of the pram !! I am going to just keep things manageable with eBay and only have at the most three things listed so I dont start to get bogged down with it.
Anyway I hope everyone had a great moneysaving day yesterday x0 -
The remainder of yesterday flew by as I had my baby grandaughter to look after. I took her out in her pram whilst i took a parcel to the post office. I sold some perfume on Ebay which was an unwanted gift, and managed to sell it as a buy it now item. Anyway its in the post now. In the afternoon I took her to see my aunty in the nursing home before I delivered her back home to my son and his girlfriend. Lets just say that last night I decided to just chill out. I was sat in bed at 8pm with my book and asleep by 9pm !!!
Today has been enjoyable so far. I was up really early and went to the town centre car boot sale. I bought a book for my grandson (25p), a huge gold coloured candlestick (£3), a new grey per una cardigan (£2.50) !!!!, a very heavy glass cat which is very similar to a paperweight (£2) and a huge fabric covered hat box. All these items will fit very nicely into my home. I am really enjoying my house at the moment and am enjoying collecting all these nice things. I now need to find a candle for the holder.
After the car boot sale I went to the gym and did 60 minutes on the treadmill. As I was in the car I called at the petrol station on my way home and filled Gladys to the brim ! Once home i took Sid to the park before getting a shower and getting a bit spruced up. I have spent the afternoon with my friend doing some shopping for house things. She has moved house this week and is looking for a lot of things. I just bought 2 cheap gold coloured photo frames to fit some of my family tree photographs. I also bought a huge bag of reduced parsnips which I will use to make some parsnip soup this week.
I am off to work tomorrow and Tuesday this week and I hope the 2 days fly by so I can get back to being a lady of leisure again. I have got a few little chores to do now so I had better get off the computer.
I hope everybody has had a great moneysaving day x:)

Yesterday was a work day for me and thankfully it was over quite quickly. Did a spot of banking as it was pay day. I have decided to be very strict this month so I have paid for my divorce, car tax and managed to put £300 into savings. The plan is to just potter along this month moneywise (hopefully). After work I did a few jobs at home. There was no need to take Sid out as she had been out with my next door neighbour. I did a couple of little chores then met my friend at the local carvery for our tea. I paid £8.50 for a great big meal plus an unlimited refill coke. I don’t normally go out on a work night but I was back at home before 9pm so wasn’t too late. Really work should fit in with my life not dictate what happens in the rest of my life !
Anyway I hope everyone had a great moneysaving day x0 -
Hi Sidneysmum. I haven't been around for a month as I was off having an operation. All seemed to go ok. A few wee niggly things I could do with having sorted out but it could be worse.
All is sounding good with you. I have just spent the best part of an hour catching up with you! Your house is sounding great! I wish I could pop in to see it.
I am another one who is quite happy being single. I don't need to "find someone" anytime soon. Just DD and me, I'm happy. xMortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
Mortgage today = £161,690.76

Hi girlatplay - Great to hear from you and glad to hear that your op went OK and that you are on the mend. I think we must both be singing from the same hymn sheet, being happy and single. I am just treating my single life as a bit of a challenge and enjoying it as much as I can !!! Keep getting better, and keep in touch x
Today has been really good in the main. I was at work really early despite going out last night. I got my work done and decided to call at the cinema on my way home. There was no need to rush as the hound was next door with my neighbours. I went to see "Runner, Runner" with Justin Timberlake and it was very good. I then went to the gym and did 60 minutes on the treadmill. I am hoping to clean my act up food wise in October and eat less cake and chocolate (except on the days when I am going out to eat). I think if I am hungry after tea I should try and get into the habit of a healthy snack instead of a bar of chocolate. However I dont want to lose any weight so I need to make sure i dont !!
Things went a bit pear shaped when I got home as there had been quite a bad accident right outside my house. I ended up being practically the first person on the scene and ended up having to look after some children whilst their mother dealt with the injured motorist. Anyway there was quite a lot of drama and it took me well over an hour to get in the house !! Thankfully the injured lady wasn't too badly injured and was carted off to hospital.
Just doing a few jobs tonight - making a huge pot of curried parsnip soup in the slow cooker and a doing a couple of loads of washing.
I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0 -
Done a fair amount today. As the weather was dreadful first thing this morning i went to the gym and did 60 minutes on the treadmill rather than take Sid out. I then went to town and did a bit of pottering about. I bought a lovely long sleeved top from Wallis for with my skinny jeans. It has 3/4 sleeves so will be great for the colder weather. I then spent a coupke of hours at the local interest centre where i did more work on my family tree. I bought another couple of ordnance survey maps and copied some documents so spent £5.20. Thoroughly enjoying doing this research although I think its going to take me years to complete (if I ever do).
After having some late lunch and a shower I took Sid to the park then went to the cinema. i saw "girl most likely" which was quite amusing. There are quite a few films out at the moment which i want to see so I think i will be making quite a few visits over the next couple of weeks.
Anyway I have made a huge pot of curried parsnip soup and i also called at the local Asian supermarket and stocked up on onions, milk, eggs and cucumbers.
Anyway I am going to do a bit more work on my family tree before having an early night about 10ish.
I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0 -
Just got home after a busy day. The weather was dreadful again this morning so I didn't take Sid out first thing. I think the way forward is to take her out after lunch when at least its light. I went to the gym and did an hour on the treadmill. I then had an hours break and had a quick nip round the shops. i bought another ordnance survey map for my family tree and also went to see my wonderful greengrocer who gave me some veg for the piggies. Back at the gym I did my usual dance aerobics class. On my way home I called at the local history centre and did another hours work on my family tree.
After lunch I took her ladyship to the park then did about another hours organising of the family tree. I am still collecting information about my paternal grandmother. Its really slow work but i am loving it. By concentrating on one person in depth I dont want to move onto anyone else until I have gathered as much information as I can.
At tea time i decided a trip to the cinema was in order and went to see "Prisoner". It was very, very good. I have only just got home now so its time for a snack and a cup of coffee.
I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0 -
I have enjoyed today. Much the same as the last 2 days really. I was up early but just did a few chores as it was dark. Went to the town centre gym and did 60 minutes on the treadmill. Had a quick look in some shops for some winter clothes which I didn't find....then off to the local interest centre to do some more work on the family tree. Although I am still working on details regarding my paternal grandmother, I have had to move onto her mother, my great grandmother to gather a few more facts. I have had to order another birth certificate at a cost of £11.....but if i was going out for a few drinks or a meal, I would spend more than £11.
After a bit of lunch I took Sid to the park, then she was taken out again by my neighbour (spoilt dog). I have started sorting out a few autumn / winter clothes. All my summer clothes are being put away. My wardrobe looks really empty as apart from my sportswear, I have very little which fits me. I need to buy some more clothes, that's a certainty.
I went to the tea time zumba class then picked my grandson up. We have had a couple of hours of playing and reading, and now he is asleep.
Anyway i will be in bed at 10pm as I am sure he will have me up early.
I hope everyone has a great moneysaving day x0 -
I am having the rest of the day to myself. I was up shall we say very early with my grandson who had stayed overnight. We just pottered about playing with his toys until it was time to go to the cinema this morning. We went to see a children's film called "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs". He loved it but i couldn't tell you anything about it because i slept pretty much all the way through it !! Oh the shame. My boy kept saying "Nanny, open your eyes" !!!
After our lunch I took him to see my aunty in the nursing home and she really enjoyed his visit. And now he has gone home so my plan is to have the rest of the day to myself and have a bit of a Google and maybe have a read. I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0
