Ooh that curry sounds lovely, might do one for dinner tonight now. Weather was bizarre yesterday, so glad I walked the dogs before it poured down, they're only little, would have drowned them!!0

Hi Molly 41 and diamond_sky - Thanks for posting. I think I mentioned about a week ago that I was going to start body brushing. Well I didnt expect any results (if any at all) for about 6/8 weeks. Well I have been body brushing maybe 5 times in the last week and already the texture of the back of my upper arms is greatly improved. I cant believe it. The backs of my arms were a bit rough. After brushing and a shower I have been putting body lotion on as per usual and the difference is definitely noticeable. I will feel far more confident wearing sleeveless tops this summer - if the rain ever stops.
Today has been work, worst luck, but at least its over with. I had a busy day, starting very early and leaving at 2pm. I went straight to the gym and did 40 minutes on the treadmill. Once home I took the hound out for a walk. I have also done a few chores - washing and ironing. The plan for tonight is to have a relax and a read of a new book I have just started. Its the second in a series by Tessa Hainsworth - "Making a new life in Cornwall". I enjoyed the first of her books so I got the other two from the library.
I meant to tell everyone about a stroke of luck I had yesterday. My next door neighbour is eligible for free cavity wall insulation. The salesman decided to speak to me also. Even though I am not on any benefits, apparently I am eligible as my house has "narrow cavities". i have never had anything free in my life so I have agreed to have this done in about 3 weeks time. Hopefully my house will be warmer in the winter and my bills smaller !!
Anyway I hope everyone is having a great moneysaving day x0 -
I might have a go at body brushing if you get results that quickly. I tried it years ago but was so undisciplined I didn't keep at it.
Another thing I do is make my own body scrub. Mix 3 parts olive oil with 3 parts sugar and grind in some sea salt. Use the scrub all over your body when in the bath or the shower. The sugar will dissolve in the water so you don't get loads of gritty residue afterwards, Might need to sloosh the olive oil away from the bottom of the bath though. The result is silky smooth skin and you don't need body moisturiser afterwards because the olive oil does that bit. Plus it costs next to nothing tooIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Hi Polesalot - Thanks for your "recipe". I will be giving it a go. I have got a bottle of olive oil sat in the kitchen cupboard doing nothing. I cannot believe the difference just a week has made with the body brushing to my arms. I have left the brush out on the bathroom window ledge so it reminds me to have good old brush before i get into the shower. Let me know how you get on x
I am so tired now and its only early evening. For some reason I woke up really early but I think My. Fox was in the garden trying to get my poor remaining chicken Audrey. Anyway he didn't succeed. Took Sid to the park and was back about 6.30. God I need a life. As the weather was dreadful I decided that I needed to find some thing to do indoors as the garden was out of bounds. Also I cant tackle my wash house whilst its wet as I need to put the contents in the garden whilst I paint. So....... I decided to strip the walls of my spare room. Its really big and was used as a playroom when my boys were little then later as their lounge when they got to be teenagers. Anyway I have got one or two nice pieces of furniture lined up for it so I decided to strip the walls. It was pretty easy really. However there are a few stubborn bits of paper that are stuck. My neighbour has said I can borrow his wallpaper steamer at weekend so that's great news. For now the room is nice and clean and the walls are stripped apart from the stubborn bits. Watch this space.
Mid morning I went to town and did a few errands - library, returned items to Primark and Sainsburys, bought tinned custard, white rice, 1kg chicken breasts, light bulbs and oven cleaner !!! Went to the lunchtime zumba class at the sports centre then when I got home my friend came round and did my nails for me. They are lovely. She does them about every 3/4 weeks and I am always pleased with them.
I have used the chicken to make a huge pan of red Thai curry which has used up the last of the frozen peppers and 2 tins of coconut milk. I have just split it into 6 large portions to freeze. The plan now is to get my feet up. I am well tired. Going to carry on with my Tessa Hainsworth book hopefully. Knowing me I will find something else to do !!
Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0 -
No wonder you're tired - you've done a bit of everything today! It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0

I do the olive oil scrub as well
Saves money and I often find shop bought ones are either too gentle or feel like they are ripping a layer of skin off  Definitely want to try the body brushing..

Hi polesalot and diamond_sky x x
I am sat here and its thundering and lightening !! Not very keen on it myself but Sidney hasn't flinched at all.
We were up nice and early this morning and went to the park. When we came back the weather was fine and dry so I decided to mix some mortar and regrout my patio where it needed doing. It looks fab now. Went to my dance aerobics class this morning followed by 40 minutes on the running machine. It definitely improves my mood all this exercise and makes me feel positive. After a quick lunch I took myself off to the cinema to watch "The great Gatsby" and it was really good. It was over 2 hours long but it flew by. Since getting back I have had a bit of a pamper - facepack and defuzz !! Had 3 use ups in the toiletries department today - perfume, body lotion and shower gel. I also tried on about 10 more items of clothing before my pampering and pretty much decided they are all for the rag bag. My intention is to try on every scrap of clothing I own and make a decision as to if I keep it or not. Anyway I am going to do a bit of googling then get my feet up with my book as its pouring it down outside.
I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0 -
I have been on my feet pretty much all day.........and its time for a rest !! The plan for tonight is to get my feet up, make a couple of phone calls and read my book.
Sid and I were off to the park really early this morning. Sid would stay on her bed all day. Its me that wakes up really early. I think its these light morning. After going to the park I tackled a few small jobs before giving my garage a bit of a tidy up. Threw a couple of things out. I also noticed that part of the slate roof has been displaced and that some water is coming in. Watch this space !!
Legs, bums and tums was cancelled so I just went in the gym and did 60 minutes on the treadmill as an alternative. Instead of coming straight home I walked to the nursing home to see my aunty. I only stayed 30 minutes as she cannot concentrate beyond a few minutes. I then walked to my local bakery outlet. I have discovered that Fridays are super cheap discount days, so I decided to stock up and fill my freezer with goodies. Also I plan to give some to my children. I spent £3.50 and got the following (all M&S stock) - 10 swiss rolls of different flavours, 12 microwave chocolate puddings, 12 apple strudels and an apple, toffee and pecan pie !!! That should keep me going for weeks. When I got it all home I portioned everything up into one person servings and put them into the freezer. Bargain !!
After lunch I got my petrol strimmer out. Now this is a job I hate. When my house was bought I also had to buy quite a large piece of land at the side of it. It cannot be used for building as it is a right of way but it was bought with the house as I didn't want some random stranger buying it and doing what they pleased with it. Anyway I have to maintain this land and so I bought a petrol strimmer a few years ago to keep it as neat and tidy as I can. This land is a flaming nuisance really but I have no alternative but to look after it. So......this afternoon I bit the bullet and strimmed it all, then raked it up.......and it looks a king now!
My neighbour who is handy at doing jobs has just come round and brought me his wallpaper steamer, so that's my next job over the next few days, I also asked him if he will sort the garage roof out. He agreed as he loves a little project and something to tinker with. He is also going to repair my garden bench which could do with a little TLC. Progress !!!
I am so glad I decided to get my finger out and start to do a few jobs on the house and garden. Not only is the property looking in tip top condition, I also feel as though I am achieving something. All these little projects are giving me something to think about. Off to get my feet up now.
I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0 -
I love doing jobs around the house. You are putting me to shame!
Would love to have a discount bakery like that near me.mmmmmmIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0
